I had a horrible experience while here. For context, I have done Brazilian waxes at EWC many, many times. I decided to try sugaring because I heard it hurts less. That was NOT accurate. It hurt worse than any Brazilian wax I have had. Obviously, that depends on pain tolerance. The girl who waxed me was not the owner (probably mid 20s). She told me to do all the normal positions and it seemed like she was doing a good job. I specifically asked if she got a spot (it occasionally gets missed) and before I even finished asking she interrupted and said yes. When I was done, and my knees were still open on the table (exposing me to the lobby), she opened the door yelled "done!" At me and left the room. There was still sugar stuck to me. When I got home I decided to check out the work. She missed MANY spots including the spot I asked about. Very unprofessional and rude. Will not be returning. read more

I have been visiting Cristina (owner and waxer) for almost two years. I can honestly say she is the absolute best I have ever experienced. Not only is she meticulous and careful, but she is super fast (the quickest I've left there is 12 minutes and the latest is 16 minutes for a Brazilian). She is very tactful and makes you feel at ease and makes the experience as painless as possible. The method itself is less painful than traditional waxing (I think so anyway). Aside from her technical skills, you can always find Cristina in a pleasant mood, she's so warm and friendly. She is very accommodating and will try to work with your schedule. I am very unhappy with my experience. First when I arrived I was not greeted or ask my name I was just directed into a room. I wasn't told what to do or how to undress and it my first time. The lady didn't describe anything or tell me what to expect. And my hair was waxed against the way hair growth not the way it's described as going with the hair growth. I'm covered in ingrown hair bumps, more than I ever had with shaving with a razor, clippers and regular wax. I strongly feel that this was done so I would not return. I guess this establishment only caters to people who are not of color. I will go back only if I can get an appointment with Christina as everyone spoke about. My vagina looks like I have the mumps or chicken pox. Extremely unattractive and ridiculous my money is green like anyone else and this is unacceptable. Until very recently, I had been going to Cristina for several years (after discovering her magic through a groupon deal). Let me just preface this by saying that the only reason that I do not go there any longer is because I have opted for laser hair removal. Had I not, I would still be a loyal customer! Cristina's sugaring studio is clean, small, and tucked away right off Pompton Avenue. She has ALWAYS been more than accommodating anytime I needed to make an appointment in a pinch. She would squeeze me in where ever she could and I never felt rushed. She did a meticulous job in easily under 15 minutes. Cristina always made me feel at ease during my appointments and everything about the experience was sanitary. I cannot say enough positive things about Cristina. Had it not been for my decision to receive laser treatments, I would have been a lifer! If you are new to the sugaring experience, I would highly highly recommend that you give this a try. Cristina is absolutely wonderful! I live over an hour away & she was able to fit me in as soon as possible. So pleasant and friendly!! The salon is beautiful & clean. The sugaring paste (wax) is so much better than any other waxes I've had before. And Cristina gets EVERYTHING. Well, as much or as little as you want. But she was so professional about everything. Prices are reasonable, seeing as when I'd go to other salons before they would always miss some, which drove me nuts, and I'd still have to pay the full price. This was worth every cent! I was recommended to go to the Brazilian Sugaring Studio by a friend. I've never gotten waxed or sugared but heard sugaring is the way to go. Christina was very nice and informative. I did have a little bit of a breakout in the areas after, but from what I read that's rarely normal, especially for the first time. As a loyal client of Christina, the owner, for the last several years, I am honored to write this first review (as I did for Mulher Skincare.) The sugar wax she uses is used only for the individual client so it is hygienic and causes no irritation at all. I have extremely pale, "thin" skin and have never reacted to it. Christina is very friendly however I don't believe she is using the proper materials for sugaring (I believe it's blended with wax). Worst experience and will never return. Reserved a 630pm appointment on 10/27. When I got to the studio there was a woman waiting before me but come to find out she did not have a reservation. Being that she was there first, the waxer took her and I entered the room at 653pm. What was the point of securing a reservation and charging my card in advance when my reservation wasn't guaranteed? While I waited close to 25 minutes there no music playing, complete silence in the studio to add awkwardness during my wax. The wax was the most painful wax, the wax wasn't even warmed up which I asked her about. When I looked at the color of the wax it was grey in color, I asked her if it's even sugar wax. She said it's sugar paste. ?????. I have been getting waxed for close to 9 years. Been getting sugar waxed at Sugaring Wax Studio in Miami (amazing studio for anyone traveling to Miami ladies) for the past 2 years. They are not using sugar wax and not warming it up to make matters worse. On top of that there are still hairs left behind! Was thinking about calling today 10/28 for them to touch it up being that this service was over $70 with tip but I am going to pluck them myself, that's how terrible the service was. Wish I can post photos of the grey residue and left over hair! Will never return and will not recommend to anybody. read more

She's very accommodating. As far as the procedure, I prefer it over hard/soft waxing. It hurts but it's bearable and worth it. I've never been one to write reviews but this is such a horrific story I'll never forget and I had to share. My regular sugar waxer in NY was off for 2 months so I was trying to find a highly rated sugaring place in NJ, found this place on Yelp and was excited to do. I set the appointment with Christina. After finally finding the place, I walk in to the small studio where I greeted by a old lady (late 40s?, thought she was Christina). She sends me to a room and I undress. She comes in and I ask if she's Christina she says no she is her fill in when she can't make it, but she says she does a lot of people and has been doing this for years. Not gonna lie, the place looks a little run down I could see a little browning on the wall (but ofc that shouldn't matter if the service is great). She proceeds to begin waxing and it hurts but it's bareble just not what I'm used to. I do have suffer from ingrowns and she pointed it out which is fine bc I'm always delighted to hear what ppl recommend for it. She then proceeds TO POP THEM WITH HER GLOVED HANDS. SO UNSANITARY AND SO BAD FOR UR SKIN HOLY SH*T. I tell her it hurts bc she's literally digging her nails and she says "yes but it's working" she finally stops. Doesn't end there. Then she asks if she can leave the room for like 10 minutes because she has another client but it was eyebrows so it was gonna be fine. She leaves me in there with my legs wide open, half of the Brazilian done, with sugar still down there. I have never experienced such terrible service omg. She then takes 15 min and comes back to tell me that the person changed her mind and wanted regular wax so she was gonna take another 15 minutes. I was left waiting for her 30-40 minutes. I'll never recommend this place to anyone, maybe Christina is a magician or something but that old lady scarred me forever. I'll never cheat on my waxer again.
