Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed with the service I received on June 28, 2026. I arrived for my scheduled appointment with Carmen, after receiving multiple appointment reminders and a voicemail confirmation. Upon arrival, I was informed that my appointment had been changed. Carmen then approached me and stated her manager had contacted me. I advised her that I had never received any call from a manager. Carmen proceeded to state that she had been told I informed her manager that I tip her through a mobile payment service. This statement is completely false. I have never spoken with any manager regarding tips, nor have I made such a statement. The last tip I provided to Carmen was given in an envelope. Carmen then informed me that, because of this situation, she no longer wished to see me as a client. I was shocked and embarrassed, especially since these accusations were made in front of other customers. Not only was I not properly notified about the appointment change before arriving, but I was also falsely accused and publicly embarrassed. To make matters worse, I was told that if I wanted to be seen by another associate, I would have to wait an additional hour. This entire experience was unprofessional and disappointing. As a customer, I should not feel pressured to tip out of fear that false accusations will be made against me. Given this experience, I have lost confidence in this location and its management. I only have two passes remaining, and I will use them at another location. After that, I do not plan to return to European Wax Center. I hope this matter is reviewed seriously, as no customer should be treated in this manner.

I started my commute from NYC to the Verona location, but found it odd I never received a reminder -- so I called, only to learn that my appointment was never actually booked, despite scheduling it over the phone 2.5 weeks ago. They managed to squeeze me in later in the day with Megan. However, when I arrived just five minutes past their 10-minute grace period (after calling ahead to let them know I'd be slightly late), I was told I had missed my appointment and the most she could offer was a conversation -- not the actual service. I found this incredibly disappointing and frustrating, especially given the effort it takes to travel from NYC without a car, and the fact that I've been a loyal client for years. It's unfortunate to end things on this note, but I can no longer recommend Montclair Rejuvenation Center after today's experience.

During the service, I experienced clear indications of improper technique and negligent care: Excessive Heat: The applied beeswax felt excessively hot, indicating an improper temperature setting. Aggressive Removal: The removal of the wax sheet by the esthetician was noticeably aggressive and forceful. Immediate Pain & Acknowledgment: Immediately after the wax removal, I informed the esthetician, Treasure, that the areas above and between my eyebrows were extremely painful. Negligent Aftercare: I questioned whether a proper post-wax cleanser (such as rubbing alcohol) had been used. Treasure confirmed that "No" such cleanser was applied. I was only advised to use a generic ointment and Vitamin E oil. Upon returning home, the painful area above and between my eyebrows became severely red and inflamed. I subsequently confirmed that the skin in these blotches-on both sides above the brow and between the brows-had been physically lifted and removed (skin abrasion/burn). Current State of Injury: The damaged area has progressed from red to pink and is now a noticeable brown/hyperpigmented color. Permanent Damage: The injury to the skin, particularly above the left eyebrow, remains visible even after two professional consultations, indicating permanent damage and a high risk of long-term scarring. Personal and Professional Impact: I have been forced to stay indoors and rigorously avoid all sun exposure to prevent further hyperpigmentation. Initial In-Person Follow-Up: I returned to the salon to show the extent of the damage. I spoke with an employee named Emily, who confirmed the owner / manager was unavailable. I needed a doctor who specializes in the treatment of African skin, which easily scars and hyperpigments. A few customers in my hair braider's shop recommended her. Dr. Downie successfully treated my melasma because I have not since had a recurrence. Dr. Downie is both my medical and cosmetic dermatologist. I drive over and hour and a half from Eastern Long Island to see her. She has performed on me many cosmetic procedures, which beautify my skin. I use the skin and hair products she recommends. My scars have reduced significantly, and my hair is now growing like wildfire. I have never received more compliments from strangers about my image. All staff are friendly and professional.
