This review is LONG overdue, but I cannot recommend NailBox Studios enough. They're extremely talented, and truly care about the health of your nails. They make amazing suggestions based on what you're looking for and the best options based on your preferences. They have top tier products and are so friendly and accommodating! I have thin, brittle nails that I've bitten my whole life, and with Lavie's help they've been completely transformed and and getting long (pics are after I got them cut down, I prefer short nails) and healthy! All their services are thorough and they pay attention to detail, and make sure you're happy with your nails throughout the service and at the end! I just had the most amazing experience at Nailbox Studios. Seriously, the best across the board and I'm already looking forward to my next appointment. The shop is a little hard to find upstairs, but once you get there it is so cute! It is clean, intimate, and doesn't feel at all like your generic salon with standard pedicure chairs. The salon is filled with flowers, fur rugs, and designer-themed pillows and wall art. I wish I had remembered to take a picture! The service was so friendly and I never felt awkward or like I was forced to make small talk...everything flowed nicely, even when I accidentally bumped my nails and she had to fix two of them. After reading all the good and positive reviews i decided to give this place a shot. Even though the booking process was super quick, the quality of their work is not the best. For spending almost $200 on a gel manicure and special pedicure, you would think their product would last for more time. Its been a week and my manicure is already peeling, they also painted unevenly over my cuticles so it keeps tugging on my hair when i try to even make a ponytail. The nails were not shaped properly and one of them has chipped already, so much for using the product they claim that makes your nails stronger. Also they charge you for taking any nail paint you have on from before, that would've been nice to know before I booked the appointment. Needed to get my nails done after a botched job at another place. Came into Nailbox last minute and close to the end of the day, and they were able to fit me in. I went to NailBox Studios in Fremont for the first time today. I didn't have an appointment, and Sam, who took my call, was very kind and said she might be able to fit me in! She got me in for early afternoon, and upon arrival I waited no more than 10 minutes. I also got a text message soon after I was booked, which was nice, I was able to know who my nail tech was going to be, and it was a reminder of what time to come. Yen helped me today, she was very good, paid attention to detail and was careful while cutting my cuticle. I think they used something other than a UV light, I'll have to ask the next time I go. The price was comparable to other nail shops. I was able to use a coupon through Yelp. This was a higher end nail shop and all the plants and furniture were very well taken care of! I imagine that mostly all of the furniture was new, as Sam said they had recently relocated. Hard to find this location. The sign is not easy to spot, and is missing one side. Parking is equally hard to distinguish. The entrance is hard to find, and needs a code to enter the main building - which I was not told about ahead of time, and needed to call once I arrived. Inside, there are steep steps that lead to several units, one of them being Nailbox. The nail studio is dusty, small, and cleanliness is questionable. The 2 techs working were nice, and there seem to be a steady stream of clients coming in. The service, mani and pedi, is OK. My real nails were terrible before starting to get them done here. Previously a few different mail places had jacked them over. But just on my 3rd fill here and they took my nails off each time to check the health and my own nails have never looked better. This is a place that tries to help you grow out your own nails then overlay them with a healthy gel. They also do sculptured nails which I'd been looking for someone to do for a while now. That's the only reason why I ever dared to raise my voice. So, if your customer felt uncomfortable, then that's on you because you raised your voice at us. A few clarification points: -We were five minutes late (ok, that's on me) - We were never at any point disrespectful to any employees. Never raised our voice at any employee. Even as you were calling my mom to complain, my sister apologized to the nail tech because we really appreciated their time and we asked them to please not to take any of this personally. My sister apologized to the nail techs again multiple times, as our intention was never for the situation to escalate. -I'm not sure when we aggressively shouted? If any raising of voices happened, it was because you were unprofessional, and I only raised my voice TO YOU in response, no one else. When my sister brought up that she did not want a manicure, the manager or whoever it was did not handle this professionally. She was rude and refused to give us any attention. All we asked was for her to hear us out. My sister was not rude about it, and I only got angry once I saw that the manager was being rude. She never bothered to see what was the reason my sister did not want to continue on with the service (which was the fact that our nails were not done nicely by our nail techs) and did not want to give us any attention. Then, she had the audacity to call my mom. Mind you, my sister and I are both in our 20s and are adults, and this manager thought it was a good idea to "tattle tale" on us to our mother, who of course was not there and was confused as to why this employee/manager was calling her. I just found that very childish, as we were just asking for her to have a conversation with us, and clearly she had the time to have a conversation because she had time to call our mom (but funny enough did not have time to have a mature, adult conversation with us). Again, I found this very odd and unprofessional, as my poor mother was just trying to treat us to manicures and pedicures, and the whole day ended up being a disaster. My point is, the store is dirty, they have limited nail options, and this institution doesn't value their customers. If I was disrespectful in any way, that's a different story. But my poor sister was talking nicely and just asking the manager/employee to make time for us. My poor sister just wanted for the manager/whoever it was to hear her out of why she was not happy with her service and why she did not want a manicure, and the person handled it so poorly. Both my sister and I left so confused and upset. All we wanted was some basic human respect and were frankly treated like garbage. She is one of the few remaining nail technicians/artists who is not only an expert at her craft, but also takes the time to make sure your nails are perfect. Okay, where do I start? Very clean place, great flow, and nice employees. What got me here? We were going near the Bay Area because of an event my wife was to participate in, and we were going to house sit for her cousins. The kids were with us, and my wife asked if I wanted a pedicure (days ago), and said "sure". (this is my first time). I had no idea what to expect, never seen a manicure or pedicure preformed before, and I was the only male and we had the only kids there at that time. I won't go into details on my first experience, so keep in mind I have nothing to compare it too. We arrive about 30 minutes before our scheduled time, and we were lucky enough to have them start as soon as we got there. I had Christine. She was very nice and helped me through my first experience, I'm sure she knew because of how extremely awkward I was. My wife was getting pedi at the sometime, and they offered for us to turn on the TV for Netflix for our kids. So it worked out pretty great. I noticed there was no chemical smell and no one was wearing surgical masks. (when I walk pass other nail salons, that's the first things I noticed) I felt really relaxed in minutes and they were nice to our kids, in fact, Christine took my 3 year old to the bathroom when he had to go! Major points right there lol. Nothing hurt when she working on my feet, calves, and toes. And after my session, my feet and calves skin felt very smooth lol. My wife continued with the manicure and I was on the sidelines with my two little ones. They were occupied pretty well, and I was offered a glass of wine, nice! So my coworkers rave about this place and are regulars here. So I ,of course, had to check it out for myself. I booked an appointment, and all services are only done through appointment FYI . I booked with Katie who was my artist. I didn't know what to expect but I was excited to be pampered and fluffed and was looking forward throughout the whole week to get my nails did. The ambiance is very clean and neat. Very clutter free and simple. I really love the quaint and fancy shmancy feeling I get when serviced here. There are only 3 pedi chairs and 2 manicure tables here so the small intimate ambiance makes it feel all the more special. I didn't realize how long my nails would take to be done though. I honesty wasn't thinking personally because I ordered a 10 nail design with mani pedi in gel. So that means they had to individually paint each fingernail! #SMH at myself for not considering the time and effort that takes to do. But anyways prior to my appointment I was messaged and was asked to send ideas of what my nails would look like. I sent them some pictures of my choices and that was that. The pedi was nice. I got a nice neck warmer to relax and they offered me a drink. I was about to fall asleep while my feet were being pedicured. My hands were very time intensive and effort intensive. I didn't realize how detailed they would be and all the work that went in! I don't get manicured very often so I'm a little clueless to this fact. It took so long that it carried over into Katie's next appointment. I was happy with my result the first time around. But I left went home and was message the same day. They asked if they can REDO the manicure because they saw areas where it can be Improved. I'm like, wow I thought this was nice already but SURE! So I came in again the next day and she DID do an even better job than the first. She bought different paint and had different tools and took her time the second time around. I am happy.
