Very annoyed. Came for a full set of gel two weeks ago and a pedi. The nails came out fine. When it got to the pedi part the lady they gave me was an idiot. She filed my gel polish off with a full large coarse file cutting my cuticles. Now here to give them one more chance and they started off with my toes as we speak im in the chair. The idiot doing my pedi keeps questioning every request knowing im nervous to begin with being my previous visit had me applying neosporin to my toes for a week or so. I specifically pulled a design off the internet i want on my nails. Might as well use the base color on my toes. And she had the nerve to question it. Followed by her insisting i place my feet in cold water. My mother and I have used this place since I was a kid with diff owners. I keep coming back because of memories with my mother. However it appears unless you get the owners husband and wife. The service sucks. Im gonna ask for the wifes name this time and going forward make appts with only her. Horrible manicure and ped, the manicurist wanted to be somewhere else. When she was doing my feet I asked her to scale and she replied that I didn't need it. The last time I checked the feet belong to me and maybe I know my feet a bit better. The ped felt more like a wash than an actual pedicure. The manicure is another story. She asked if I wanted short but I didn't have any idea they were cut so short. She didn't cut all of my dead skin or cuticles as you will see in my photos. read more

I wanted to wait to give my review until I had been able to visit Nail Tech a few times. This past Monday was my 3rd fill and 1st regular pedi at Nail Tech. Mike is the Tech I have had each of my appt's with and although I have yet to make an "actual appt", the salon gets busy so don't be me and make appointment, I go at off peak hours when it's not busy. I am used to having my nails done with powder and liquid so it was a totally new experience on my first visit to have a much needed new set by gel. Evidently gel is big out here, also french paint is airbrushed not hand painted except for pedicure. Also I noticed nails here are thicker and wider than I am used too. But, but and this is important, I like mine thin, narrow and with a slight curve down, because this is how my nails grow. The salon I went to off Hooper Ave when I first moved to town and didn't have a "salon to call home" did a terrible job uhhgg the pain.. Anyway Mike was able to see my nails in the natural state and he listened to what I wanted, no problem. To me as to any gal, it is just as important to have a good relationship with your nail tech, as it is with your hair stylist, your nail tech will see your hands and feet at their best and worst state and Mike was able to remove what was left of that "Hooper" set and bedazzle me with a fabulous finger tips and a much needed spa pedi with little pain involved, because if you have ever had to have a bad set removed it can be excruciating. For those of you that know me.. KNOW I am lost without my nails! My fill and pedi was around $60.00 (this visit) my fills were about $25-$30. But I will be honest, a really good spa visit can easily be $80.00 to $100.00. But I base this review on quality, sanitary conditions, and general services. Not all spa's that are cheap are good nor all spas that are expensive worth the money. Nail Tech is just right with everything you need. Special Note. Walked in and was taken right away. I got a gel manicure, and they did a great job! (I dont remember the name of the guy who did it) It lasted a few weeks and actually grew out before it chipped. It was $20, which I think is the cheapest price in the area (other places I have been to were $25) so you cant beat the price. The first 2 times going there was good the third time horrible I asked Eric if he could do a design I wanted he said yes it looked like one of my kids took a Sharpie to my nails well I got the 2 nails fixed by another tech. Like if you can't do a design say no. Always a bad experience in this place. Walked in with about 45 minutes to spare, to get a pedicure. Plenty of time, right? I asked how long it takes & if they have time to start right away. They agreed. Long story short, I wound up walking out after my feet had been sitting in cold water for over 15 minutes. Other than that, they are always speaking vietnamese, when they all speak English fine. This comes off as very rude in Western society. I will not come back again. read more

I first want to say that this salon appeared very clean. I went in for a pedicure with an appointment but was not attended to for about 40 minutes. I wasn't too upset about that because they have nice massage chairs and I wasn't in a rush; however, if I was banking on being taken on time, I would have been upset at the wait considering i had an appointment. While my pedicure was being done the guy doing it was very distracted looking at the door and talking to employees when scrubbing my heels and basically scrubbed off the back top of my heel. I jumped in pain and told him what he did. He was very friendly apologizing but I didn't realize the extent of the damage until later that day when it was burning and the marks could be seen, each day becoming more visible. Booked an appointment for a Saturday at 4:00 for two pedicures and three manicures. We were taken right to our seats which was nice, however the entire visit felt rushed. The nail technician quickly cleaned my nails and filed them but did not create a nice shape or even out the nail. The color is uneven as well, meaning different parts of the nail are darker then others. My mom and sister had the same complaints as me even though we all had different technicians. During their pedicure they felt as if the technician neglected to do certain parts of the pedicure. They did not scrub off any of the callouses, dead skin, or exfoliate what's so ever. Foot massage was also very short. Manicure and Pedicure was 60$ which is pricey for getting bad service. While that price is pretty average, I expected them to do a better job. I usually go elsewhere but they were the open later than other places. My aunt actually recommended them. Danny did my nails and I'm very impressed!! I got a full set French. To find someone that can do just a simple French and make my nails even is hard! But he did such a great job that I def found my new nail place. Cindy did my sister in laws nails .. My sister in law brought her own paint and a cool skull gem. Cindy had no issue doing EXACTLY what she wanted. They were both great. The environment was comfortable and it was a HUGE salon. This place is good for a last minute need to get your nails done. I've never made an appointment and haven't waited long to get a gel fill. The place is clean and the staff is nice. One of the problems I have is that they have one girl who can do nail art. She does a very nice job, but the last time I went in I wanted a simple flower on each ring finger and I had to wait for her to be available to do it. Also, they want to airbrush everything on your nails. If you want a simple French tip manicure they'll do a good job, but if you're like me and like a little design and creativity on your nails I'd go elsewhere. read more

Today, for the first time in about 30 years, I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure. I found a coupon in a book that I get in the mail. $27.99 for a mani/pedi. Being a resident of Howell I thought it would be nice if I kept my business in Howell, besides it was so close to where I live and I thought it would be good for Nail Tech to see that their advertising was working. I found a second coupon and invited my sister-in-law to join me. When we entered the shop, I showed the woman behind the counter my coupon. She told us to pick out a color of polish, so we did. Nothing was said about there being a difference between gel and regular polish. We entered the pedicure section of the shop. A nice young man did my pedicure with what I assume was regular polish. During our conversation he pointed out the owner and said how the shop has been in Howell for twenty something years. After the pedicure I was directed to a station for my manicure. How nice it was when the owner sat down to do my manicure. He introduced himself as Steve and we chatted. He was very personable. At one point he suggested that I get gel polish on my nails because it would last longer I agreed that it was a good idea and he continued my manicure with a gel polish. When the manicure was done I showed him the coupon and was told that since I had used the gel polish (on hands only), the cost was not $27.99 but $48.00 and that I could use the $5 off coupon making it $43.00. When I told him that he never said anything about it costing more to use the gel, he said that he did say that. No he did not, because I would never have gone along with it for that amount of money. How embarrassed I was when I told him I didn't think I had enough money. He told me to use a credit card. I didn't have any with me because it wasn't supposed to be so expensive. He also reminded me that I still had to tip for the pedicure. I ended up having just enough cash. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Nail Tech and I will make sure that everyone I know hears about my experience there. They did an okay job on my nails, but I feel like it was false advertising to not accept my coupon after he's the one who suggested the polish. read more

This is a horrible place to get your nails done. Firstly, they are rude to you as soon as you walk in the door and it isn't very welcoming. I got a pedicure, manicure and eyebrow wax. The pedicure went ok but when it came time to do the manicure, the guy who was doing it TOLD me (NOT ask) that I NEEDED to pay before I did anything else. I told him that I would be happy to pay once I am done with my spa day and my manicure settles but he literally FORCED me to pay and overcharged me. I wanted to dispute it but between the bad English and rude manners, I reasoned that it wasn't even worth it because I would clearly not return there. I was counting the minutes until this "spa day" ended because I was so uncomfortable being there. And to make matters even worse, the manager (or owner) there does a horrible job with eyebrows. The eyebrows themselves look good, however, he thinks its okay to PUSH with ALL HIS MIGHT against the bridge of your nose to wax it. I told him he was hurting me and he asked me if I had a sensitive nose and did the same thing again. THEN he told me that he would prefer to make my eyebrows thinner when I specifically stated I wanted a natural look. He made a snide comment about me saying that if it was him, he would make them thinner. I told him that it is a good thing that he is not me then! And at the end of all of this torture, I still decided to tip both of the men. I didn't have cash on me so I wrote it on the receipt. The manager/owner took one look at it and said "We don't put tips on there. It's ok." as if he was doing ME a favor. When I got home, two of my nails were already messed up even though I used the drying machine THREE times. They water down the polish and don't bother to fix the machines and then blame the messed up nails on you. I will never go back here. First off, the technician didn't listen to be when I asked her for my pink and white gels to be short. I had to keep telling her and she still didn't make them the length I wanted. It got so frustrating that I just said "whatever". I got my gels on Saturday. It's now Tuesday and one is already cracked out of no where. I don't do any manual labor or anything rough. This should not happen. Extremely disappointed. My experience at this nail salon was one of the worst I've ever had. I wanted pink and white but the salon owner argued the acrylic at his salon was very strong and airbrush French is better because it's not permanent. After going back and forth with him I agreed to his recommendation even though it was not what I asked for. My nails started lifting in less than a week and 10 days later my nails are falling off. Also if you are looking to relax and enjoy getting your nails done this is not the place for you. While I was there a women was speaking very rude to one of the nail technicians, loud and for all to here. I'm definitely not impressed. I'd never been to this place before, but it was a bit cheaper so I figured "why not". It said "walk ins welcome" so I went in and showed them a picture, asking if they could do a fill in gel. I sat down and one of the men took nail pliers and tried cutting off the base of the nails! He obviously had no idea what he was doing, and he sent me to another guy, Rich. Again, I showed him the picture and told him that's exactly what I wanted. He told me that was no problem. At first, it was going smoothly, but then time started to wear on and on. He hadn't even started painting my nails. One of my nails had already fallen off, and I had to cut it short. When he glued on a new nail, somehow he glued some of it on top, and some below my nail! I told him what was wrong, but he insisted it was fine and "just the glue" I had him fix it anyway. Then, when he was filing my nails, he was way too harsh, and he sliced my skin. When he finally DID start painting my nails, there was some miscommunication about the design. Even after I showed him a picture of exactly what I wanted, The color was off, the design was wrong, and the quality was terrible. Lesson learned. It's not worth it to pay cheap. NEVER GOING BACK First let me say that I've been going to Nail Tech for several years for nail services and waxing. It's pretty clean and they have a good selection of polish, and I rarely wait for service; but I have always found the service there to be inconsistent. Some of the people working there do a great job, and others not so much. I usually try to get my favorite tecnician, Stephanie, but she was busy, so a gentleman with a goatee who sits at a station in the front did my mani-pedi the last time I went in. I brought my own polish to use, but the nail technician brought over a gel color similar to mine and talked me into trying the gel polish for the manicure. His work was rough, hurried and sloppy. On 2 of my toenails he only painted half of the nail and then seemed annoyed when I asked him to fix it "Sorry, I try, but sometimes the nail is so small" he said. Really? On my fingernails, he got polish on my cuticles. I left feeling as though I wanted to immediately remove the polish and re-do it myself because I could do a better job, but decided to leave it, because I paid $55 for it. Two weeks later, I tried to use acetone to soak the gel polish off, but was having a hard time, so I went back there to have it removed. The same guy removed it for me. He said he was going to soak them, but then proceeded to try grinding the stuff off until I complained that he was burning me from the friction. He got up and walked away without saying anything to me, started talking to another employee, then came back with stuff to soak them off. While one hand was soaking, he tried to "fix" my other hand with a file, which hurt a lot and my nails were thin and had the texture of sandpaper afterwards. On the other hand, that was soaked, the nails felt normal. After this horrible experience, I was charged $10 and told, by the technician, that I shouldn't get the gel polish because "It's bad. It makes your nails thin." and I looked at him and said. "YOU did it for me." to which he responded " Well, YOU wanted it." I am sorry, but that is RUDE and unprofessional. I am so disappointed with my recent manicure. The guy who did them took 15 mins from start to finish to complete my manicure. Not only was it sloppy and rushed, but it was painful too!! My nails are thin and he had no problem taking the nail file and shredding them down to nothing. I also had to come home and fix my nails because they were so sharp.
