I called ahead to confirm if Gel Nails took walk-ins. The lady said yes, asked for my name, and told me it was fine if I arrived in 20 minutes. When I got there, I was told I'd have to wait 45 minutes for a pedicure or come back in two hours for a pedicure and full set. This was very disappointing and disrespectful of my time. They should have told me the actual availability when I called instead of having me rush over just to wait. It feels like they misled me so they wouldn't lose business. I'm still waiting, so my expectations for the quality of service are high and I'll update once I see the results. read more

When I moved to Jackson I had a difficult time finding a salon I liked. Between unposted prices to being pushed off from one tech to another (during the same appointment) to pushy employees trying to upsell me, I was never happy. Then I found Gel Nails. I have been going there now for well over 10 years. I have never had a bad experience. Paul and Mary have always been friendly and professional. The salon is always clean. Sometimes I have to wait a bit from my appointment time but that is usually because someone previously was late, setting the entire schedule off. After I moved from Jackson I was thrilled to realize my drive time was only going to be 5 minutes longer so I didn't have to start the process over. Overall, an excellent salon. read more

One of the sloppiest Gel manicures I've ever gotten. Nail polish on my skin and it really could have used another color coat- in person it looks terrible. Also, it chipped on my thumb nail in 2 days! His wife rushes you, doesn't give time to select color or design even when I arrived early, has cut me numerous times and ignores that I was bleeding, yanks your hands, she is not gentle, very rough and acts like everything is an inconvenience. I went there for 2 years and never saw her smile once. Very unprofessional. I finally left, even though they're located less than a mile from my house. Today (7/24/18) was my first time visiting gel nails. I did not have an appointment. The atmosphere was very nice and the salon was very clean. However, during my visit the lady who was doing my nails was extremely rough and did not listen to what I requested. I asked for short nails and she refused to cut down the tips. Then as she was filing my nails she was brutally rough to the point my fingers were bleeding and cut. Finally, right before i was about to get up the lady put lotion on my hands and burned me with a very hot hand towel. As I was paying, an elderly woman came into the salon wanting a pedicure the owner told her to sit at chair 3. The owner asked the lady who was doing my nails to start the pedicure. At that point both the owner and the employee started to fight. It got very loud very fast. The employee was screaming at the owner cursing and making a scene that was very unprofessional and disrespectful to the costumers as well as the owner. Overall my experience here was not good and I would not recommend Gel Nails to anyone. read more

I've been getting my nails done by the owner for over 18 yrs. I've never had any problems with getting a fungus, infection, etc. I've gone to other places one time and had these problems. They are very clean, precise with their work (making sure the client is happy before leaving), and efficient. If there is ever a problem with one of my nails before my next scheduled appt I can just stop in and have it repaired at no cost. Their prices are definitely comparable with other salons out there. I highly recommend them to anyone. I moved 40 minutes away but still travel to Gel Nails b/c there is no one around that provides the service and quality that they do. read more

Gel Nails is under new management. Stopped in today after a disaster of a manicure a few days before at another salon. My nails were chipping and splitting away from the acryllic. I asked Paul to fix them. He ended up redoing the nails. He's very good. Paul and his wife Mary used to work at another well-known salon in Jackson, but are now the owners of this place. So happy I found this place! It's owned and run by a husband/wife team and their family. Paul did my pedicure and his wife did my manicure. They both did a great job. Even though I walked in at 6:45 (they close at 8:00) and asked for a gel manicure and a pedicure, they took their time and were both very thorough. Great quality of work and probably the best manicure and pedicure I've had in Ocean County. They also have a frequent client reward program I like (I.e. Best nail salon I've ever been to. The gel manicure never chips and lasts about 3 weeks. Great pedicures as well. I highly recommend them.
