My gel manicure only lasted three days until it started to peel off. As this was my experience, I would not recommend this place. The experience itself wasn't super impressive (had to ask the manicurist to fix a poorly painted nail and had to request the standard three coats of polish vs two), but it's affordable at $25 for a gel manicure. They don't have a ton of gel color options, though was happy to see a few OPI brand choices. There is a good selection of regular nail polish colors. It seemed sanitary, as they lined the pedicure bowls with plastic for each person. Maybe try their pedicure but definitely don't recommend getting gel polish. read more

J and Z nail spa refuse to do my nails because they said I don't leave tip. The owner Follow me outside and told me that the workers said I don't leave tip. I said to him I have been here many times and left tips on several time. The idea that he follow me to make that point is mind blowing. I don't think anyone should be force to leave a tip for a job that is being done. If that nail spa was been rob and the police came and save them should they tip the police for saving them? A thank you would be in order at least but officer would not mandate that they give them a tip. I am leaving this review because i was denied served at J and Z nail spa. read more

I found out about this place from a friend and made sure I looked up my reviews before going. I called made an appointment for a French mani and pedi for the next morning. Everything was fine until I sat down.. the girl that did my nails and toes clearly showed she was not in a good mood so I ignored it. She started scrubbing my feet and she was so pissed she cut my toe bad. It started bleeding and she was shocked she even did it, didn't tell me a thing but I was looking and she cleaned it up but sheesh. I feel like my toes and nails were done well but I had such a terrible experience. I even thought with this happening they would've took money off or at least a coupon to come back or even an apology. I received nothing! Over Priced and nails don't last! Had a new set put on by Shirley, and came back several times for fills over 4 months. I came every 3 weeks, so it didn't get too grown out. A bit pricey to begin with, but every time I went back, Shirley charged 5$ more. One time it was to fix a nail that cracked, but during my regular fill, the next time it was extra to glue one down that was lifting. The final insult was when one nail she had done looked like it was pointing up, like a a ski slope. I had just had them done the night before, had been exhausted and didn't watch carefully enough, but I didn't think it would be a problem to fix it. It was so off that my husband, who never notices ANYTHING, mentioned how odd it looked. Nope...got a song and dance about why it could not be fixed. You would think that having just spent 45$ just for a gel fill and had a pedi done as well, she would want to make a new customer happy and not let them leave with nails that didn't look good or they were not satisfied with. Nope...she refused to fix it. The shop was not busy, so it was not an issue there, it's not usually very busy and with bad customer service and prices like that...well...not hard to see why. She was just in a bad mood because when I came in, a customer was giving her a argument over her charging her extra for gluing a nail down. Plus when the girl did my pedi, she cut the toe nail in too far at the sides and it was painful and ingrown. Had to get that fixed as well. The nail she said she could not fix? I went to another shop, they fixed it no problem. Needless to say, they have a new, steady customer. Less pricey as well and much nicer looking work! Have sent about 5 of my friends to the better shop. read more

The ONLY reason I'm giving this salon 2 stars is because they are nice and the salon is nice (my guess it was a kitchen company prior who had different cabinetry on display & didn't bother taking them after they left) but the quality of my nails and the price IS WORTH 0 STARS! My first time here i needed a FILL for my friends wedding. I was completely mortified what i walked out with on my nails. I talked myself into getting a pedicure, which is just like any other salon and cost $25 with the same water, scrubbing, massaging and painting.. Then it came time for the (acrylic) FILL. Showed the tech a photo of what i thought to be a very easy design, an ombré French. They couldn't do it. So i then quickly and regretfully chose another EASY design, pink nails with both middle fingers having a white base polish and green palm leaves. Also, Every nail appeared to be completely fine but the tech chose to "fix" one. I then chose to get the Coffin shape since they were already long and my husband thought it would look cute. Fast forwarding to the acrylic application part, THIS BURNT SO MUCH I ALMOST CRIED!! I have NEVER experienced this much burning and pain EVER BEFORE!! As i held back tears, the tech asked if it burned and i said yes a lot. She said "it's bc of the acrylic". Yes, I've experienced a slight burning before but never to this extreme. They burned for days after. Fast forwarding to the end. I walk up to the cash register with my terrible looking nails and I'm told RIGHT THEN AND THERE they charge $5 FOR THE SHAPE, $5 FOR THE DESIGN & $5 FOR NAIL REPAIR !!!!!!!!!! MY TOTAL FOR AN ACRYLIC FILL WAS $73 BEFORE TIP not to mention I WAS THERE FOR ALMOST 3 HOURS !!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER EVER return to this scam salon EVER again!! Sign says $22 &up for a fill and then you're told AFTER everything's done that there's a $5 fee for any tiny thing done WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION!! I wasted $83 of my hard earned money and 3 hours that i could have spent on my kids and at least enjoyed my time. I strongly recommend searching for another salon before you blow almost $100 on an ACRYLIC FILL read more

Worst experience! I went in and the lady that did my nails was horrible. I told her how long I wanted them cut and she criticized the length I wanted them cut then cut them the way she wanted them cut and make the thumbs completely longer than the rest. The nails were done so sloppy, uneven, and fell of in about 3-6 days. Won't be returning. read more

I don't live in the area, but my girlfriend lives near this nail salon, so I frequent this part of NJ a lot. I was extremely overdue for a fill, but didn't want to continue to get acrylic, as I've noticed they've been damaging my nails more than usual lately. I wasn't near the salon I normally go to, but I saw this salon was new and had great reviews, so I made an appointment to get my acrylic nails removed and a gel full set, and was able to get in the same day a few hours later. On the phone, I asked how much a gel full set would be, to which the man on the phone replied $50. Compared to the salon I normally go to, that is very cheap! An acrylic fill where I go is $35, and a gel fill at this salon is only $25. For that reason alone, I was really looking forward to this nail appointment and to hopefully finding a salon I could get my fills at. When I arrived at my appointment, one woman started removing my acrylic nails, but then Shirley hopped on halfway through. She works very quickly, which is something I appreciate, and her work is great. The entire process of removing my nails and getting a gel full set took an hour and 15 minutes. Because of the fact that both nail techs had to take my acrylic nails off one by one, I thought that was no time at all to spend getting this service. When I went up to pay, the man at the counter told me it would be $55, and then explained that it was $5 extra to remove my nails. This is something I wasn't bothered by at all, especially because I assumed I would have to pay at least a little extra for the labor to take my nails off. Honestly, I thought it would be more than $55 because of how meticulous both nail techs worked trying to get my nails off! Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back here, and I am so happy with how my nails turned out. I would definitely recommend Shirley to anyone in the area wanting to get their nails done.
