I have never written a yelp review before, so consider this a big deal that I felt the need to write one for this establishment. I have never in my life experienced a manicure so terrible. I called yesterday to make my appointment for today. The lady told me "sure" and then rushed me off the phone without even asking my name for the appointment. I showed up this morning for my appointment. A woman came to do my nails, and lets just say I have never experienced someone working at the speed she did. She was clearly in a rush and I don't think she even really cut my cuticles and nail beds, which I had specifically asked she really cut because mine are dry and grow back quickly. Im not sure what to call the shape she filed my nails into either. The polish is sloppy, corners of my nails are missing polish, there are lumps in the painting, there is polish on my fingers, etc. I haven't dealt with such unprofessionalism and poor customer service in a really long time and for that reason alone, I wouldn't return to this nail salon if it were the last one standing. There are too many other great salons in the Bethesda area. read more

I just moved in the area and gave this salon a tried. The services was done quick and wonderful. All staffs are nice and friendly. They offered me beverages and personally walked me to the service stations. My deluxe pedicure was wonderful and the massage was well executed, not sloppy jobs like other salons I have encountered. I also got the gel manicure and it looks fantastic. They offered to correct any errors within two weeks if anything happen, I hope not, but so far so good. Nail Studio, you have earn a new client, please keep this up and don't change on what you have done for me. Parking is the only issue I have at this location. There are parking garages across the street and meter parkings around their building. I am just spoil from free parking all the time, well, Bethesda what can I say. Just awful. The pedicure service took a total of 20 mins. This was not worth the $27 I paid for it. The massage was pathetic and the color on my nails looks like it's chipping, and I've only had the paint on it for about an hour. Not to mention I now have mysterious red bumps on my feet (maybe because of the dirty and faded pedicure towel that they used to wipe my feet). I get pedicures at least every 3 weeks and I usually go somewhere else but they were booked so I came here and I regret it enormously. Oh and added "bonus" was my nail technician... Who kept stopping my pedicure to text and check her phone. Will NEVER come back here again. Save your money. read more

I've tried a couple, and I fell in…read morelove with one, only for the nail tech I loved there to move to Texas after 2 appointments.‍ For the review: I'll start with the fact that the guy who appears to be the owner is absolutely lovely. I called to inquire about aura nails; I never do designs but my birthday is in a few days and I wanted a little extra something to feel fabulous. It's been an absolutely insane week and I rescheduled here twice. He was very accommodating and kind about my scheduling needs. Now, the less positive part: ***please note that I am only doing this review for the folks like me who take reviews really seriously and are particular about beauty-related things, specifically, in this case, nails. I have no desire to trash this place, because then were nice.*** That said, I was told that they could do the nails I wanted and I was excited based on the photos in their Yelp page. I felt really confident that they could do something I would absolutely love, specifically because their Yelp page says they do nail art and design, and whenever a salon does nail art and design, their basic nail techniques and everything else are typically great. Unfortunately that is not the experience I had today. I got an incredibly mid pedicure that actually looks 2 weeks old as I'm walking out of the salon right now. (Before leaving I told them that I did not like it, but it was late and I had to go and I could tell they were tired, which I didn't think would help my issue.) On my way out the gentleman who did my manicure (he only did my hands, not feet) told me to come back the next day to have it redone. The problem is that I don't think I have time to go back tomorrow, and frankly, I shouldn't have to. I'm sorely disappointed in a $70 pedicure looking like I did it myself. My other major issue is the color selection. I know not everybody is as maniacal about color as I am, so eat the fish and spit out the bones here. If you are pretty routine or have a basic range of colors that you're willing to try, you probably will not have an issue. I, however, am a brand designer/graphic designer and happen to be very color-sensitive. I always go to nail salons that have robust color selections because my eye can spot a vast difference between two pinks that might be right next to each other on the display. Not every color looks good on everyone's skintone, and I like what I like. It was SO challenging to find a color here that I liked and honestly I was just looking for a pink from a Pinterest photo. The sample nails that they gave me to choose from were inside of a plastic container, which 1. Dulled the color 2. Put the nails under a glare from the lights so you couldn't really see them The colors also just weren't great. It felt like a very old-fashioned selection of dip colors. When I actually did choose a color (one I only liked a little) and she went to put it on my feet, it turned out to be a COMPLETELY different color, and I'm talking maybe 20 shades different than the color that I chose and a totally different undertone. I didn't want to belabor the point because she had another customer she was rushing to try to get to that seemed to be a regular customer of hers and I didn't want to take up more of her time. But I'm really disappointed because I came here with a vision, wanting something very specific and I left with a manicure and a pedicure I wish I just had not even gotten. Honestly, my nails looked way better when I came in than when I left, which is saying a lot because both my hands and feet were nearly 3 weeks old. The only reason I didn't go back to who did them was because i was seeking nail design, and I ended up leaving with no nail design at all anyway! I feel like I flushed $140 down the drain, especially bc I will have to have this all fixed. In summary, lots of people seem to love this salon, so although I really had a two-star experience, I gave them three, because I truly think this is a matter of just not being a fit for me. Every place isn't for everyone. If you're pretty easy like Sunday morning with your nails, you should likely just ignore this. But if you are also particular about your nails like me, let this be a forewarning that this may not be the experience you're seeking. Stay beautiful, guys.

I hate writing bad reviews but had such a negative experience here. My nails are so ugly after…read morespending over two hours here, I seriously almost cried. I was shocked because of the good reviews and specifically was excited to work with David, who has great reviews here. Firstly, it's a rare treat for me to get my nails done because I'm a new mom. I came in with a grown-out BIAB manicure from a different salon and asked for a builder gel manicure with a cats eye design. David said this was ok and that he would do the builder gel, then another manicurist would do the cats eye. He started filing my nails and immediately cut them down to the quick even though I asked him to leave some length. He was super rough with the skin around my nails, which now looks worse than when I came in. Then the plan somehow changed and he started doing my cats eye design even though he said he didn't know how to. He insisted that a black gel base would make the color look better, even though I chose a light cats eye color. The result of this effort was that my nails looked like black buttons with chunky white glitter on them. He insisted that the gel and magnets were "not working" and that's why he couldn't get the cats eye to work. Then he suggested I simply leave with the black color, which looked awful and sooo different from what I picked. I asked to remove the black and he agreed, then suggested that I simply "come back tomorrow." At that point I had been there almost two hours with nothing to show for it so I just asked to do a basic gel color. This also took ages and was super messy. I had to ask him multiple times to clean off gel that spilled onto my skin, which is dangerous! Even after that, the manicure looks extremely sloppy and thick. He kept filing and filing my nails even after I pointed out that I was in pain. After over two hours, the results were terrible and they could tell I wasn't happy. The owner and David were defensive when I pointed out this was not what we agreed to. David even argued that it was my fault, saying that he could have served two customers in the time it took to do my nails. However, there were no other customers to serve--and I have zero control over how long it takes him to do things. I still left a full tip and paid for the service despite the awful experience and the fact that they somehow tried to blame me for the outcome. I had high hopes but will not be back.
