When you first walk in, they DEMAND you to give them your e-mail address... I only went here because of a groupon I bought... Mistake! The bowl they had me dip my fingers in wasn't clean... Even though I made an appointment, I had to wait. There were 2 manicurists going back and forth between 4 customers that were there. There was not a good selection of OPI colors. They handed me coupons for mani/pedi... I think I'll pay a little extra and go elsewhere next time. read more

Horrible service. The girl rushed the manicure, upsold me on the shellac an applied it too fast and it looked sloppy and completely awful. When I insisted that she take the shellac off and just give me the manicure, she refused and tried to make me pay anyway. DO NOT EVER GO HERE! Very lazy and unskilled manicurists! read more

I'm a huge fan of Nail Studio! I stumble across Nail studio because of a Groupon I bought. I will admit I first was a little taken-a-back with the forwardness of my nail tech, but really liked the job she was doing on my nails. I got a shellac, which I have gotten a many salons over the past 2 years. I will say without a doubt that both times I have gone there she (Carrie??Cassie??) has given me the BEST Shellac nail manicure that I have EVER gotten. My polish lasted over 3 weeks both times, and would have lasted longer IF i wanted to keep it on longer. I have come to really like her. She is not rude in any way, but will tell you what she feels you need. All you have to do is say NO if you are not interested. I am a fan of this place, and will continue to go there....until if ever they don't do an EXCELLENT job, which in both my experiences they have. p.s. Also want to note, she was kind enough to fit me in one night just before closing which most places will not! read more

Went in for my first time today and they did an excellent job. Hannah was my nail tech and she was so nice and did a great job.

I bought the groupon for a lip and brow wax. I called ahead to see if they had availability or allowed walk-ins. They said no, but they had appointments within the hour. So I made an appointment for 10 minutes from when I called. Silly, but I guess they needed that for some reason. Fast forward to the end of the service. She missed spots, so my upper lip is "patchy". My brows are greasy with all the creams, and lotions they put on. The most troubling part was the staff. The girl that answered the phone was rude and had no sense of customer service. She was talking extremely loud about unprofessional and inappropriate topics to other customers. Then she turned on some war movie on TV at a ridiculous volume level. Not exactly how I imagine a spa business environment to be run. If you are looking for a pleasant time for a spa treatment, spend a few extra bucks and go somewhere else. read more

I had a terrible experience at Nail Studio and will not go back. I even bought a groupon before knowing how bad it was there - I will waste my groupon before going back! They were short staffed, often working between clients. I was there with my sister to get our nails done together, and she sat and soaked for 20 minutes before they even started me. Then, they bounced back and fourth between clients. The shellac job they did on my nails was poor - even making it so thick on the side of my nail that it stuck up and snagged the very next day. The polish peeled off, taking some of my nail with it. I've seen good shellac manicures - this was far from it. Poor quality, thick and ridged. To make matters worse, my sister had bought a groupon for a regular manicure, but asked if she could add shellac to it for an extra charge. They said that was fine. Instead, they charged her the full $30 for the shellac manicure. When we argued this (kindly at first) they said this could not be done and WE misunderstood. We told her it needed to be made more clear in the Groupon, to which she scoffed. So, my sister paid for her groupon AND full price for the shellac. Do not go here. It feels dirty and the customer service was horrible. read more

I was the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding and we came here two days before the wedding to get manicures and pedicures. We had five girls in total all getting a combination of various services including acrylics, shellac and pedicures. All the staff members were so incredibly friendly and accommodating, and made the process fun and personable for us. They laughed and joked with us and did great work that we were all happy with. I am new in Ann Arbor having just moved from Las Vegas. I have acrylic nails and was very concerned about continuing that service in AA as it is not as common here. I went to Nail Studio and the gals there did a great job. I also got a spa pedicure and was really pleased with the service, the cleanliness and genuine friendliness of the staff. The new management has definitely brought a more consistent result to this salon. They are very friendly and have done a great job the last 3-4 times I have gone. I'm currently a bit overdue for a shellac manicure, but that is due to being busy on my part. I have gotten a little used to the shellac not chipping for 3 full weeks, no lie! Super happy with the pedicure I recieved today! While I usually take care of my own nails, I am now at the point where I am too pregnant and have too much back pain to do the job properly. This studio is close to home, the owners are super friendly, and I'm very happy with the affordable pedicure that I recieved. I received 2 regular manicures here. They both were done extremely neatly. I was very happy with how my nails looked, and they lasted at least a week. The place is not a luxurious spa, and they do keep odd hours and close early sometimes- so call ahead... however it is affordable and close to home... and I am always very happy with how my nails look when I leave. read more

I just moved back the area and have been looking for a new go-to nail salon (my previous one has gotten sloppy). I found out about Nail Salon through a Groupon e-mail. The first time I went I got a mani&pedi. The guy that did my nails was great! He was friendly and chatted with me- I definitely thought it was worth my time and money. However, when i went back this past weekend, my experience was the total opposite. While their website says they're open Sunday- I wanted to see if they'd be able to fit me in. When I called the girl answered, she said they could take me, but to come in around 3pm. When I arrived, two technicians were there and finishing up with other customers. As she worked on my feet I asked her just to trim my toe nails- she clipped them shorter than I have ever experienced. She was extremely rough while scrubbing too, when I asked her to be more gentle she shook her head and continued aggressively (she literally cut me). When she finished, I went to put on my own sandals- she scolded me and grabbed my foot to put on the ones they carry. My manicure was even worse. She was sitting very far back from the table and kept yanking at my arm to work on my nails. By the end I was leaning over the table. She only put on one coat of polish and was rushing me to dry them. I was only under the portable dryer for about 2 mins. After it turned off, I went to extend the time. She yelled at me and told me I was done. As I went to pay, I told her I was not happy with either service or her attitude. That I wasn't going to give her a tip and I felt that a discount was in order. She responded that they usually don't allow walk-in's on Sundays, she was there by herself (by the end she was, the other girl had gone) and had to be somewhere. I responded that I had called in and asked if I could come in today- I would have been more than happy to come in another day, and was told I could come in. She shook her head and mumbled something. She did take off a few dollars, but was rude about it. I'm not new to getting mani's/pedi's or going into salons. I know this is how they make a living and don't like to turn people away, but this was ridiculous- my nails started to chip that night. My previous salon was better than this place. I would not recommend this salon, even if you have a Groupon. They also don't have the individual packaged tools- which I didn't notice before. read more

I like this salon and love their work, but I come in to relax and be pampered not to be bothered by their son. He's always interrupting his Mother and bothering customers. The last time I was there the clean towels the son dumped them all in the chair and sat on top of them. Some fell on the floor and he just put them all back in the bag. My sister and I were floored. Those towels should've been re washed and not used on the customers. They really need to make him stay in the back or leave him home. I walked in once and found it very busy so I left and made an appt for later in the week. I was waiting for 60 minutes for my appt which apparently they were already 1 hour behind on the previous appointments - so I left. What's the point of an appointment? When I finally in came early Saturday AM to beat the rush, the owner told me the wrong price for the shellac upsell and then tried to tell me it was my mistake for the misunderstanding. I literally had 3 different people working on my shellac. I didn't feel rushed. I just didn't feel valued as a customer. I had a groupon. I tell all my friends the 'discount' is not worth the expecatation. This is a poorly runned business. The management there does not care about repeat business (as a result of repeated discounts offered) and she has zero customer service. She's very hostile and rude. I went here Thanksgiving weekend with a friend to get our nails done for our class reunion despite having been warned away by another friend. I'd been growing my nails out for weeks to get them at just the right length and even though the "full service" manicure was rushed, the cuticle push back hurt like hell and the manicurist wasn't very friendly, my nails looked spectacular! I got a french manicure and instead of putting pink and white nail polish on, they just added the white and left the normal pink color of my nails showing. At first I wasn't sure about it but I got so many compliments and it looked great for two weeks since there wasn't a line where the pink ended. However, two weeks later when I tried to remove the Shellac with acetone, it wouldn't come off! I had to eventually peel it off and it destroyed my nails and my thumbnails have still not recovered 6 months later! Be sure that you either go to the salon to get it taken off or soak a cotton ball in acetone, place it on your nail, wrap the end of your finger in foil and wait 10-15 minutes. Then it should come off just fine. read more

the technicians are rough and caused me to bleed. Also I requested and paid for gel nails only to find out weeks later what i got was acrylic base with a gel top. This is not the proper way to do gel nails. I guess they just do what they want. They deceived a naive person to make a few extra dollars. I do not recommend this place nor will i ever return. I suggest you look else where unless you are prepared to pay again in two weeks to get them done properly. read more

My sister and I went to the Nail Studio over the holidays as a fun sister outing and it was anything but. We had appointment times and we waiting for over 20 minutes to get started and we could tell tell were rushing to get us done. I had the groupon for the manicure and asked if I could upgrade to the shellac and apply my groupon to that. She said I could and I ended up paying the full amount for the shellac, with no discount. I went in with a "don't use groupon, come in and I will honor the groupon price" Made appointment and five minutes after they started working with me, three girls came in for a manicure. Of course they are taking care of the full price customer instead of me. No big deal I understand I will come back. I am told that it will cost $10 to take off the Shilac I had on my nails or I could buy a $25 shellac gift certificate - so I did that, only they gave me on 2 weeks to use it before it expired. It's Christmas time, I do not have time to use it. Go in January to get nails done and guess what I am sorry you can't use this. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I WAS SWINDLED OUT OF $25.
