As someone who never gets gel because it always peels before two weeks is up, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this salon! My first gel manicure here lasted almost a full 3 weeks so I recently switched over to becoming a regular client here! It's super easy to make an appointment and you get exactly what you want! I go to Diana and she is amazing at helping an indecisive person like me decide what to do for my nails. Nail essence is one of the few nail salons in the area that I feel like I can count on time and time again. The quality is always consistent and I have gotten some of my BEST gel manicures here over the last few years. The staff takes their time and do a lovely job. Not to mention, I think that it's very organized compared to most salons, as far as getting people in and out. There is always a friendly hostess who takes your name and takes care of getting people seated when a chair opens up (it's never your nail tech running from your nails to answer the phone and sign people). Was taken to the back chairs around 3:35, told it would be "just a few minutes" before a nail technician was ready. No problem, I thought ... and then I waited. And waited. And waited. The water my feet were soaking in got so cold that I mentioned it to an employee who walked by. She bailed some of the cold water out and ran some more warm water in. Just a few more minutes, she said. That water got cold too. The place was not crowded and there seemed to get at least two people who were just kind of hanging around. Finally, after 30 minutes of waiting past my appointment time I grabbed a towel, dried my feet, and left. No one apologized or said a word as I left. I certainly won't be back. read more

Almost 4 stars but.. I read the reviews for this place before making an appointment. I was expecting rude staff but a good mani-pedi. When I called the lady on the phone was short with me but when I got there, there was barely any interaction with the staff, I just signed in and sat down. The women who did my nails was very nice, however the polish was very thick, my nails were still wet the next day which caused them to get ruined overnight. I'm very sad that I even need to give a one star. They deserve zero. Worse acrylic manicure of my life. I went in specifically for an ombré manicure and it looked beautiful when she began. But I specially asked for it not being thick and she assured me it wouldn't be. Fast forward a half hour. They were SO thick. And after checking them out, two nails aren't even glued down at the tips. So she thinned them and they were still so thick. She then told me she'd have to file the ombré off. Whatever. Fine. So she did and then said just go get a gel color and I'll do it. So I went and got a gel color, I didn't even like, and then she did them. Didn't get all the edges but whatever. I'm basically almost in tears by that point. Went to pay. They said it would be (50 originally) and 15 for the gel... I said that it was done in gel because the ombré didn't work becusse it was so thick. I was then told oh well I got the service and it took her so long. YES, it did. Because she had to fix what was wrong. So I told them I'm not paying it and after the manager fought with me. In raised voices. She said whatever and didn't charge for the gel. The girl who did my nails then tossed my card at me when she slid it. Like wow... I will NEVER come here and will make sure everyone in my circle and network NEVER come here again. read more

I think every nail place can be rated solely on the nail tech that you have - I can see one tech and love the place and you see another and hate the place and will never go back. I always call ahead to make an appointment with My. She is really friendly and does an amazing gel manicure. An amazing gel manicure - how do you judge this - you do by how long it lasts... two weeks at the minimum!! She makes good small talk with you and remembers things from times when you were there before. She is also good at taking cues when you don't want to talk preferring to relax. I went here tonight. Made an appointment for 6pm for a gel mani & standard pedi. I arrived 15 mins early and was taken right away. Theresa was my nail tech and she was amazing. I have a kinda-crazy toe nail right now because I broke my big toe back in March- she glued it to keep it together until it grows out & and did a great job on my pedicure (40mins!) & polish, (includes exfoliation & lotion/massage). I had some gel on my fingers and she wrapped them before my pedi to have them ready to go when we were done. Gel mani was flawless and pretty standard. Great selection of gel colors and she did a fantastic job with the polish. (The place I used to go in Framingham was terrible with the gel polish and made me look insane). She shaped my nails just how I wanted them and was so pleasant and a breath of fresh air compared to where I had been going. It seems like a busy nail salon spa in a good but not overly traveled strip mall. There were techs available for walk ins and everyone seemed super nice and pleasant. The salon was also very clean and well kept. I will definitely be back again, great experience ! OH and did I mention... The price was absolutely worth it and VERY reasonable! I've been coming here to get my nails done on and off for a few years and they usually do a decent job, however the past two times I've been in the wait has been ridiculous. Last time I waited 45 minutes and now I'm going on 50 minutes and still sitting here. They are apologetic about it but I wish they would either have more staff on or be upfront/accurate about the wait times. They did get new pedicure chairs so that's nice but I wouldn't say it's worth the wait. I am a repeat customer and sometimes it is great, sometimes not, hence my one star rating. TODAY it was NOT good. I was taking my 95 year old mother - in a wheelchair (she is able to easily sit in the pedicure chair) - and so we made an appointment. We arrived promptly on time and waited almost FORTY minutes. Forty. Why make an appointment? Why make a 95 year old sit and wait that long? When one pedicurist came (I was having one also), I asked what had happened and because her English was so very limited, she only could say "sorry" and I wonder if she even knew what I said. When my mother's pedicurist came we asked the same question and the same response. But this is not acceptable. Even someone coming to us after 15, 20, or even 30 minutes to say "we are behind...can I get you a water or something?" would have made it all better. AND they only filed her toenails, which are long. They needed to be cut, not filed. So I leave 1 star. There is a lot of competition in this profession and we have been going there for at least a decade, if not more. But we probably will have to seek out another after this. read more

I would give this salon a solid 3 stars because they're SUPER inconsistent with their service. I went about 3-4 weeks ago and I had an amazing time I had a gel mani/pedi which cost me about $85 for both. Today I go and I get an extremely rushed pedicure and she didn't do half the things you normally get with a pedicure like scrubbing the bottom or nail cutting/shaping or anything like that. Then this time I wanted a acrylic full set and it also was extremely rushed I booked my appointment 2 hours before they closed so I don't understand why all the techs were in such a rush to leave. I noticed at the end of my full set that she didn't even cut my cuticles so I asked her and she did, come to find out when I'm checking out she said there's a $8 additional charge for cuticle trim. I've been to 5 star salons in Boston that don't charge extra for cuticle trims. I find that absolutely absurd. It's always part of any nail service I've ever gotten. What I was expecting to be a $80 expense turned out to be around $125 I just don't understand how I went from getting a $40 pedicure to a $60 pedicure when I got the exact same service. I understand the increase of price for the acrylics but overall my second time coming here was definitely not good. They need to reassess who they hire to be on their staff because clearly some of them do not want to work there. read more

I went in for acrylic removal and a new set. I'm soaking my acrylics while waiting for a nail tech which doesn't take too long. She starts drilling the color off and then takes out a nail tip and scraped under the acrylic to get the remaining off. I've been to countless salons and instead of waiting for them to soak off this salon dug in between my nail and the acrylic to get them off faster, very damaging to the nail. After that the whole process seemed rushed, I also received a small cut on my finger from her filing. With the ending result there's what it looks like to be air bubbles on my nails. It makes them look dirty and since they're the white tips, it looks like I've got some type of crap on them. I've also never experienced pain AFTER the appointment. My nail beds were hurting when I added any pressure to my nails. I think it's due to them scraping off the acrylic and her rushing the whole process.
