I wasn't impressed with my gel manicure as there are some black and brown spots that were "due to the polish". I had to ask for extra coats to be applied to cover the spots. I also wish I got more of a hand massage during the manicure. Michelle was so sweet and I love how clean and calming the space is. I love their massage chairs for the pedicure! I wish there was more color selection for OPI pedicure but overall relaxing and the nails last pretty long. I paid $77 for a gel mani and regular pedicure. So far my gel manicure has only lasted about 2 weeks and is starting to chip now. read more

I went to Top Coat Nail Salon in Berlin at Highland Commons and paid $57 for a gel pedicure -- and it was honestly not worth it. There was a little soaking and a quick once-over with a pumice stone, but no real effort to remove dry skin or smooth my feet. After she painted my nails, she put a little lotion on and rubbed it in, but that was about it. When I asked why she didn't use a foot file, she told me it was illegal, which just isn't true. Many licensed salons use them regularly and safely. So essentially, I paid nearly $60 for a soak, some lotion, and gel polish. No real exfoliation, no attention to detail -- very disappointing. I don't typically spend my time writing negative reviews, but the attitude from the staff here is unreal. Any question you ask one woman (I didn't catch her name) is like you're asking if she could sacrifice her first born. The woman at the desk won't acknowledge your existence when you first walk in... I ended up walking out. Who treats customers like that?! Judging by several other comments I see, I didn't have a unique experience. I've been getting my nails done for 20 years and I've never been treated so rudely for no reason. It's especially off-putting when you're excited to relax and get pampered, and you're treated like you're interrupting someone's day. Probably the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. They told me they had time for a gel mani pedi at 545pm and didn't seem like it would be rushed but when they took me in they set me up so that I was getting both done at the same time and quickly. It was the opposite of relaxing. Also their UV machines seemingly weren't working because they had to redo my nails multiple times to get it to stay and not surprisingly, my gel manicure is chipping less than a week later. The only good experience at Top Coat was the aesthetic's. It had so much potential for a calming and tranquil experience. Instead it was the fastest manicure I've ever had. The staff were so unfriendly and didn't even smile the whole time that we were there. I brought my granddaughter there thinking it would be like our other experiences (another salon) but it was a bland experience and the service was fast and it was not the relaxing experience I've had elsewhere. Massage chairs are fantastic! I would consider paying for a pedicure just to sit in the chair. I am all about the massage. So when the lotion goes on the feet - I expect some good massaging on my feet- but the person who did my pedicure wasn't as full of pressure as I wold have liked. That being said the place is clean and tidy. The polish work is good- I just got the basic pedicure- price is $32. A little spendy for a 30 min pedicure - from start to finish. We will see how long the polish lasts. There wasn't a foot nail dryer. And in the winter months - I don't want to go out with flip flops in- so my toes are gonna go back into shoes... hope they don't smudge! My only complaint is that the woman doing my nails gave me the wrong price initially and I ended up having to shell out more money but I think it was worth the money. I got French mani and pedi and paid $57. No gel just regular polish and it lasted about a week on my hands and about two weeks on my feet. I didn't have my toes out so I imagine it could have lasted long if I didn't hAve closed toe shoes on all the time. I also didn't protect my hands when washiing dishes and doing chores with my hands. Next time I will see how much longer I can get out of them with those things in mind. I'd go back for sure. read more

I went there for the first time last week to get a Pedicure since my regular technician was on vacation for 8 weeks. I did a walk-in and was told to come back 40 minutes later. There were plenty of shops around where I could kill that kind of time, so I didn't mind. When I came back, they were ready for me and I received a wonderful pedicure. Since I was happy with the cleanliness, professionalism and relaxing background music of the salon, I figured I'd make an appointment for my nails. I had already cut down my old gel tips and wanted the gel removed and try a dip manicure with my new short nails. I was so lucky to have Anna do my nails. She patiently and gently removed the existing gel and then did a beautiful job with the dip. I had a few nails that were uneven, so she was able to reshape those nails to give me a beautiful, soft look. I have high standards for my nails and get them done regularly, so I was so pleased to find Anna and this salon. read more

Have been here a number of times due to location but have had several poor experiences. Most recently I went for a regular pedicure with previous gel removal. She spent 50 minutes with a hand file to remove the gel. She then gave up and chose to begin the pedicure and prep for painting without removing previous gel. The pedicure was longer then the manicure and I've never had some doing my nails that made me feel like a "task" before. The dip was messy, didn't even try to get it off my finger or under my nails. One of the worst manicures I've had. The technician kept accidentally filing my skin and nicking me while clipping my cuticles. My nails were filed very unevenly and I had to ask her to fix them. She didn't dry my hands after soaking my cuticles so they were dripping wet and slippery as she worked on them. Then the nail polish was incredibly splotchy. This salon is a welcome change to the norm. I've never been to a cleaner salon. The people here are so genuine and awesome. I can't stress how hygienic this salon is. They have a special air circulation system that was installed to keep fresh air pumping in and taking out the "nail polish remover" smell out. I have gone to this salon since they opened. I have loved my experience here. However, and I'm not usually a complainer there is one salon tech that I believe could use a little guidance. I have had her twice and wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt the second time. But my pedicure was less than on point. I tried to offer a little guidance, I asked if she could have a supervisor check it twice. But she refused. I will go back but request someone else. I love 25 minutes away and there are so many other nail salons closer to home, but I'll make the trip here every single time because it's totally worth it. I went yesterday to use the last of my giftcards. I've moved from Hudson, so I made the special trip. My nails are not nearly as clean and neat as usual from a gel manacure. I've been here several times and had on and off experiences. They are far from consistent. The base of my nails look dirty, there is polish on my skin, cuticles are not trimmed properly, and one of my thumbs did not set so, there are bubbles. I can only imagine that will be lifted in the next day or so. Not sure if it's a covid thing but i was "asked" if I wanted lotion on my hands. Um, is't that part of the manicure? I had asked for the Halloween design in the first picture and was told I should do gel which was $20 more...I declined and said I would just like regular polish. When I made the appointment I asked for a basic pedicure and gel manicure. I received basic mani/pedi. I have never had a gel manicure so I didn't know what was involved until my daughter told me my nails should have gone under a light. I thought its was just a different polish but this is not why I'm rating them so poorly because should have reminded her. The nail technician rushed through both services, it was not a relaxing experience at all. The quality of the work was below average. I don't like to use names but I feel to have a successful business the owner needs to be in tune as to the quality of work her technicians are putting out.
