Came in for a pedicure with my friend, I called ahead to make an appointment but I think walk ins would be just fine too. Thought their regular polish color selection was amazing! The ladies there were super nice too and I appreciated the massage chairs. They did a great job - I'll be back! Will bring cash too, since it's 3% fee with credit card. read more

I had such a great experience here! The gel removal was super clean and meticulous, which I really appreciated. I showed a picture for a sheer pink chrome look, and it came out even better than I imagined. And it was all done within an hour. The owner Amy was very friendly and skilled. She suggested trendy shapes that really suited my nail bed, which made a huge difference in the final result. Everything was extremely clean and sterile, and you can tell there's a lot of attention to detail throughout the process. I'm honestly obsessed with how my nails turned out. Definitely book in advance--they're worth it! read more

This nail salon was very quiet, clean, and relaxing. The lady (maybe the owner?) that did my gel manicure did a superb job. However, the lady who did my gel pedicure did a terrible job (none of nails are a uniform shape). So yeah, because of the great manicure and everyone being so nice, it's a 4 star situation for me. Very kind, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Extreme attention to detail - nail techs were super nice and really focused on giving a great experience and great result. Went with a friend and we got to do mani pedis together and it was just an awesome time. I've been in the area for 4+ years and I have officially found a new nail place!! Will be coming back. I got a French manicure and they even asked how thick i wanted it and went over it twice to make sure it was perfect. :))) read more

I recently moved to the area and am looking for a nail salon. I visited this salon for a manicure (no color) and pedicure earlier this afternoon after reading a few great Yelp reviews, but I was not impressed. I was greeted upon walking in, and they have a great color selection- I'll give them that. But the quality of service was really lacking. Flor, who did my nails, was not in the best mood for whatever reason, and her frustration was clear. It made for painful cuticle care and a messier job than I would've liked. My fingernails were not filed evenly, and my pedicure is "bubbly" and has already chipped! I was there only 6 hours ago. My services for the day came to $46. I hate to post a picture of my feet, but I just wanted to get the point across. read more

Every time I go to Nails by Young, I am reminded of how superior their service is relative to neighboring nail salons. The environment is tidy, clean and calm. New files and buffs are used for each person. The technicians are thoughtful, kind and attentive. They even went so far as to get me a glass of water and a cough drop. A simply fantastic nail salon on the UWS! I used to frequent another nail salon closer to me, but that placed closed and I needed another reliable place somewhat closer to me. Luckily, stumbled across this and now after having had their consistently great service with several visits, I can say undoubtedly that I love this nail salon! What I also love about them besides their impeccable nail work, color selection, and strong massages (as if those weren't enough!), is that they do a good job no matter what you are there for. This is why I always try to tip 25-30% (depending on the cash I remember to bring that day lol). The only opportunity for improvement I would recommend is to start carrying Zoya brand nail polishes. But otherwise, I'd still come back whenever I get lazy from my home manicures. read more

I had the most perfect pedicure & gel manicure tonight by Maricela at Nails by Young! One of the best in the city. I was greeted at the entrance on the 2nd floor (its a walk up). The space is bright, large & very very clean. The same lady that greeted me, helped me get my coat off, offered to hang my coat & helped me find the perfect gel color. I was looking for dark red. Maricela found the CND gel in color Oxford and it was perfect. She even let me try 3 different gel colors on her own nails. She also found a matching color for my pedicure in Essie Wicked. Pedicure: Maricela meticulously & gently cleaned my toes. She gave me foot scrub & paraffin wrap around my heels, LOVE! The massage chair was strong and really gives you a nice relaxing back massage. She applied the color to perfection! Gel Manicure: This is the best gel manicure I've ever had. I've tried many places in the city. Again, Maricela meticulously & gently cleaned my nails. She applied the gel thinly & evenly to perfection! Maricela is a Gel Manicure Pro! Very hard to find. My gel manicure looks amazing & natural! I found my new nail place. I was in & out in 1 hour. $55 total for both pedicure & gel manicure. The place is quite & very relaxing. I highly recommend Maricela! She's fabulous! Will return again soon. read more

My mom and I were near 72nd street and in the mood for a relaxing manicure. We yelped (obviously) and found Nail by Young. My mom was, at first, a little weirded out that the nail salon was not on the first floor but rather located in a small building and up a flight of stairs. However, I convinced her to give it a try and we were happily shocked when we got upstairs to the salon! The salon is bright and extremely clean. In addition, it is decorated beautifully with many plants that gave it a jungle or tree house feel. They played soothing classical music, too. I could have closed my eyes and taken a nap easily! But onto the manicure...all of the staff was extremely friendly and the woman who did my nails did a fast but thorough job. I was very pleased with it. They also have a fantastic selection of polish colors and all of the bottles looked relatively new and full (rather than at some other places I've been where the polish is old and then subsequently easily chips). There were many women in the salon when we went even though it was an off hour so be prepared to possibly have to wait for a short while, but in my opinion this was a good sign that they have many loyal customers! read more

Since I've stumbled upon this spot, I've never looked back. It's easy to make an appointment here: I recommend making it through Yelp, so they can set you up with someone who specializes in the service you're looking for. Appointments can be made a week in advance, and there's always availabilities. If you're more spontaneous though, they can almost always accommodate walk ins too! Miki is my girl. I always get gel nails and love a good nail art moment, and Miki can always pull off any design I bring to the table. She's freehanded all sorts of crazy designs for me, and I get compliments from people all the time about them. I don't know what they put in these gel nails either, but they last super well. All my sets have lasted long enough for my nails to grow out, get cut, and then some. I'm a nurse, so I wash my hands all the time, but these nails not only stay on, but stay uncracked! I've had nails from here that lasted 2-3 months easily. Also, if you're into cat eye polish, this place has a lot of color options! They also do a lot of unique cat eye patterns, and they do the cat eye heart design super well. Anyway, give this place a shot! You can't go wrong with them!

I booked a detailed nail art appointment with Sandra after sending my desired design to Art Up…read more Even though there is a price range for the session, beware of upcharge for senior artist. Sandra is a senior artist, so her price is higher. The studio also charged $10 more to remove my existing dip powder set in addition to their normal removal fee (which applies to gel only). My nails ended up costing $210 in cash (they only take cash here). While I was content with the outcome, it was not close to the original design I sent. I felt that there could have been better communication up front about the extra charges. I would prefer to be informed before they start working on my nails instead of during, where there's no option to back out. It has been 3 weeks, I noticed the colors have faded, and the top coat on a few nails peeled at the edge. Other than that, no broken nails or anything major. In my opinion the experience at Art Up is not worth the high cost.

Whether asking for simple nails, some fun and intricate designs, or something in-between I always walk away with nails looking exactly my inspo pics or better no matter which nail tech does my nails. I want to gate-keep this salon so much but honestly it wouldn't be fair for any nail lover in the area to miss out.

Where do I even begin, wow! This is the first time I've visited Young and her staff in months and from the point of entrance, to the service, I've been blown away! With all that has been going on, Young and her staff have instilled trust with their customers (well ME for sure) by taking the right precautions and by putting their customers first. They accept customers by appointment only, take temperatures, wear PPE, and have installed physical barriers. Service is fantastic as always and my nails are currently thanking me. We all need a little pick me up sometime, especially now, so definitely check out the salon whenever you're in the area! read more

I've been coming to Nails By Young ever since I moved to Manhattan (about 3 years) and they have never disappointed! I come every two weeks for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure, and they always to a pristine job. They pay very close attention to detail and make sure you are always comfortable. It's an extremely clean space and staff is very professional but also very friendly. They have the best assortment of brands for Gel (Essie, OPI, etc) even brands that have just come out. It always lasts a good 2-3 weeks. My favorite thing is the soothing classical music they always have on. read more

I took my sister to this place for her birthday and she was so disappointed with the service and the quality of the products they are using. She said her nail polish chipped on the second day and she felt as if they have skipped most of the steps involved in the pedicure like using a pumice stone on her feet etc.She is not going back to this place and for the price they are charging they should clean up their act. read more

Give me a break, do these people ever pick up their phone? Yes, it was a busy time but come on -- it's called customer service. Then I had a hard time finding the place. Once I got there, the service was actually quite nice but the whole experience really got off to a bad start. They deserve a second chance and I hope they rise to the occasion. read more

Been going here for years. They all know be by name, as well as my sons name and I can always get a great mani/pedi for a very good price. Place is clean, never had any concerns. I also get waking done here from time to time without issue. It is not fancy but you are not paying fancy place prices either...good safe bet. read more

They do have some eye popping prices. I wanted just a standard pedicure which started at $47 but if you add on any special things like a massage, callus removal, etc. they easily go over $100. They have maybe 12 or so chairs for pedicures and the same amount for manicures. We came on a Thurs at 2 without reservations for three people and it was busy but they were able to accommodate us right away and have us seated together which was nice. For pedicures you sit down and they offer you the menu of their services and also a book of different colors they have. They do have a large variety of colors. The chairs are also massage chairs. Otherwise pretty standard pedicure experience.

In my nearly 60 years of life, 40 years of having mani/pedis all over Manhattan, this was the best quality manicure I have ever received. A week in, my cuticles aren't fraying around the edges of where they were trimmed and the polish still looks great. Thank you, Hannah! I'm thrilled! Although not inexpensive and not in my neighborhood, I am already planning my return.

Horrible Customer Service…read more I dropped by for a chair massage yesterday. Before it started, I told the masseuse that I like a strong massage and I needed it for my shoulders and my back. However, the massage that he started giving me was way too soft so I asked him to do it a little deeper. Unfortunately, he took that as an insult. He said "I KNOW! I KNOW!" and started digging into a soft spot the my neck (rather than my back) with his full weight. He was literally pushing me off of the chair. I kept waiting for him to move to my back or my shoulders, but he just kept digging into the same spot over and over. I finally told him to stop halfway through the massage and left. My neck is still sore today. I mentioned it to the woman who runs the place but she still charged me. No apology or acknowledgment. Just a shrug. And a quick swipe of my credit card.

They drilled my nails down almost to my nail bed. It was so painful I had to ask her to stop and not continue with getting gel. Even getting them lightly buffed was incredibly painful. When I got home I had to cut them shorter because anything they touched made them HURT. They are so so sensitive and painful and they are BENDING in the middle of my nail. And now I can't get my nails done for at least 2 months so they can get thicker. I'm so so upset. I've never had this happen before, I'm 28 and have been getting my nails professionally done for 10+ years. I spent $40 for this and gave her a $20 tip before I paid because I thought I'd spend $20 for the shaping and removal and felt bad wasting her time. (I was there for 35 min) I was SHOCKED when it ended up being $40 for only a removal. Complete rip off and she obviously didn't care that I left in tears.
