The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.

She blended on the cook, but on the ticket she never wrote grits down so how would they cook know... unless he's a MIND READER AND A COOK!! in that case he's probably not getting paid enough. The decor features a lot of local sports and the seating was spaced appropriately, but also to maximize the amount of people they can accommodate. Before going, I had read a few isolated reviews mentioning poor service and food quality. Since our experience was the complete opposite, I think it's only fair to share it as some balance. We had made a dinner reservation for the patio overlooking the river. It was a beautiful, sunny (and HOT) day. When we arrived, the hostess let us choose our table. I picked a sunny spot, but our server, Amy, came over and suggested we move just one table back because the shade would reach us much sooner, and we would still have a great view of the river. She was right, and after a long day on our bikes, we really appreciated her thoughtfulness. And that was just the beginning. Amy immediately brought us water and took our drink order. I was craving a spicy margarita, which wasn't on the menu. She graciously told me that if they had jalapeños in the kitchen, she would make me a great one. A little while later, Amy appeared with my margarita in hand and apologized for the delay. Then she explained why it had taken a little longer: they didn't have any jalapeños in the kitchen, so a staff member had actually run to their nearby home to grab a fresh pepper FROM THEIR GARDEN for my drink! Seriously. Who does that?! And yes, it was one of the best spicy margaritas I've ever had. Dinner was just as impressive. I really wanted a Caesar salad with steak, which also wasn't a menu option. When I asked Amy about it, she immediately said she thought they could make it happen. And they did. The steak was cooked perfectly, the salad was well made, and it had exactly the right amount of dressing. After three days of biking the GAP, sitting beside the river with a delicious meal, refreshing drinks and that beautiful view was exactly what we needed. Huge props to Amy and the entire staff at River's Edge Cafe. From accommodating our off-menu requests to literally finding a fresh-from-the-garden jalapeño for my margarita, the service went far beyond what we expected. Our experience was absolutely wonderful, and River's Edge will definitely be on our list the next time we're in Confluence!

The small but useful cafe had a few grab and go food options, and a small bakery case, with most of their offerings being various bottled drinks, hot tea, coffee, and lattes. I got a harvest turkey cranberry sandwich, a falling leaves latte, and a honey lavender latte while I was there. The sandwich was very large and I had a hard time finishing it. The lattes were sweet and refreshing. The sandwich cost $15, and each of the lattes cost $5.50. They do have allergy information for the sandwiches, but not for the bakery items, which was unfortunate, since their raspberry donut cheesecake looked decadent. They are a cashless facility and do accept Apple Pay. They have a variety of indoor and outdoor seating.

There were a few spots left when we parked (but considering the time and day, the parking lot is plenty big). We ordered a bagel w/ cream cheese and a maple cinnamon roll. If anybody remembers the McDonald's Cinnamelt from back in the day, this treat tasted extremely similar to that (man I miss the Cinnamelt)!! To drink, we got an iced americano which was tasty and a hot matcha (sweetened by default). The matcha was decent by coffee shop standards. Nothing crazy, but if you're not a coffee person, it's a solid option. We spent about an hour hanging out, and even though the line got long at times, it moved quickly, and the seating never filled up. All in all, Fuel Coffee Works was a great place to stop in!

Coffee was good and tea nice, but a tad too sweet for me as sweet tea usually is. Nice to find a local shop and not a chain store. A must stop if it's on your route. FYI-- they also had some sweet pastries that we didn't try.
