Great spot to grab a quick lunch! I was in the area after seeing a customer and this place was nearby so I just walked in. The service was great, the young gentleman who took my order made sure I knew exactly what I was getting. The southwest salad was great, the homemade dressing was terrific. Why did I wait so long to try this place? I had a Ruben and it was, by far, the best I've ever had. Seriously. It was that good! Perfectly toasted, lots of meat, flavorful kraut and the dressing was delicious. I also had a cup of chili as a starter that was delicious and had the right amount of spice. The fries were equally prepared perfectly. Another thing that is important is that the bathrooms were exceptionally clean and smelled good. If they take this good of care of the bathroom, the kitchen must be clean as well. The entire place was spotless. Also, one of the things I Love is that they have paper towels on the tables. Every restaurant should do this. When you have big, juicy sandwiches this makes it so easy to keep your hands and face clean. An excellent idea. The vibe of the place is laid back with picnic tables, individual tables, couches, chairs and nooks. There's also an outdoor patio, weather permitting and big garage doors that can roll up. Talk about a little gem of a restaurant in Connellsville. Great selection of sandwiches, salads and entrees to choose from. I went with their Banh Mi which had a wonderful pickled veggie mix and some crisp jalapenos and cilantro. The roll really stood out as well, substantial size but still soft. I recently moved to Connelsville and this place is my favorite here. My only complaint is that they are not open more. You should always call before you stop in because they have limited staff. My daughter and I both ordered salads and found them to be fresh and delightful. The pita bread served alongside the salad was buttery and chewy; a great addition to the salads. The buffalo chicken soup had a good balance of spice, but I found it to be texturally flat. The chicken blended in - it may have been better if it was chunky vice shredded so thin. Flavor was good though and the blue cheese crumbles and green onions on top were a nice touch. It's a solid option for a quick bite in the Connellsville area. After biking for 6 hours, I was very tired and wanted food. So after reading good reviews, my bf and I decided to visit Kickstand Kitchen, which we both really regretted. We ordered 3 sandwiches, a soup and some wonton strips. My bf had also ordered an ice cream sandwich. It was taking a while for our food to come out so I tell him to put his ice cream back in the freezer so it doesn't melt and to grab it once our order is ready. After nearly 40 minutes of waiting for our food, it is finally ready. I decide to get some snacks to take back to our hotel room and at first the young girl with glasses says my total for the snacks is $10 but after she slides my card, and hands me the receipt, I see she had charged me an extra $5. I ask her why and she says, she saw my bf go into the freezer and grab another ice cream sandwich. I tell her that we had already paid for it and since it was taking our food an eternity to come out, for him to put it back in the freezer. Also, why would you charge me for more money without telling me? If I hadn't looked down at the receipt, I wouldn't have noticed. I say that we'll just grab another ice cream so she doesn't have to give me a refund and then we left. The problem really was that she insinuated that we were stealing ice cream despite us spending nearly $70 there. If I was going to buy another ice cream, I would have told her but thinking we are stealing is bad. My bf had given them a tip before our order came out and I really wished he hadn't because the customer service was really bad. On top of that, I thought the food was pretty average. If you are brown, I wouldn't advise eating here at all and to go some place else. read more

A buddy of mine and myself just finished three day ride from Pittsburgh to DC via the GAP and C&O. I've biked through and to this town three times now and I'm so glad we were able to eat here. It was the best place we stopped for lunch on the entire trip! The Reuben was incredible, and I have a high bar for Reuben sandwiches. The fries were fresh, crisp and hot. The cafe has a cool laid back vibe. I was the only one eating in this lunchtime. They also have a nice back patio, but it was a little chilly today. It was chilly inside, too! That's what happens when the weather keeps changing from warm to cold and back again. I ordered the Friday special, a Hunkie Hoagie with kielbasa, sauerkraut, provolone and pierogis! The Hoagie roll was homemade fresh and wonderful. I pulled the pierogies off the sandwich and ate them separate. They were quite good! The entire hoagie was delicious and I ate the whole thing despite being stuffed to the gills by the time I was done. I definitely recommend this spot in downtown Connelsville, apparently near the Rail Trail. I have to work up my fitness to ride my bike there. While bike touring on the great Allegheny passage we were told to stop at this restaurant. It's just off the path, has nice bike parking in the back and a place where you can sit outside under umbrellas. The spot looks new, clean and has nice restrooms. We were able to find nice healthy options and the sandwiches look amazing. The salads are large generous portions and filled with dark leafy greens. We highly recommend this stop for fueling up while traveling along the GAP trail. read more

Connellsville needs more places like this. There's a lot of pizza & wing places in town, not to mention fast food, and it gets old so quick. But my first experience here was a good one. I live in town so it's a 3 minute drive away. Very clean, air conditioned, not too bright. Bike themed, which a lot of businesses in Connellsville are (the Sheepskin trail runs right through it). It was us and one other pair of diners in the restaurant at the time. My partner and I ordered 3 dishes to share: the nachos, the grilled vegetables, and the won tons. The servings were so big which I didn't expect for appetizers. The won tons were crispy and light and came with a chili sauce which I found to be sweet but very tasty. The vegetables tasted fresh and there were whole cloves of garlic in the dish (which I absolutely love). Finally, my favorite part were the pulled pork nachos. Fresh crispy nacho chips, with a ton of pulled pork, BBQ sauce, sour cream sauce, cheese, and fresh jalapeños. If you've ever been to Guy's in Greensburg, they have something similar called the Trash Can Nachos. It's the same pork/cheese/bbq business with a few differences. The Kickstand nachos beat Guy's tenfold which I think is something a lot of people might not expect from a small business when you put it against a big name chain. Well, this review isn't about Guy's nachos, but I'm using it as an example for food done wrong vs. food done right. Freshness and quality are paramount especially with stuff like nachos which tend to get soggy when you leave them in sauce. I could not find a single bad thing about any dish, and even splitting the dinner we almost didn't finish! They also have a cooler with water and sell bottled drinks of all varieties as well as ice cream for $5 and under. Overall for 3 dishes and a drink plus one ice cream sandwich the total was ~$25-ish. Very fair price for the quality and quantity. I will definitely return. read more

Service excellent! 2 people in our group have gluten sensitivity, waiter suggested their gluten free bread- excellent for the Reuben & the pulled pork sandwich served without bread in a bowel-delicious. When ordered the French fries, waiter mentioned they were not gluten free (because of sharing of the oil)- he was so knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Next the indoor seating very clean & the outdoor seating was being enjoyed by many patrons. The restroom were spacious, very clean- so this place takes care of all the details. Well, within a day we were in the area and hungry, so we stopped in. When we got in, we were very surprised by the number of options on their menu. There were 3 other table occupied, without any food on them, and as we sat for awhile, they started to bring the other tables food out, so this was why it took a bit of time for the food to come out. Super cool place on the trail. Was starving after an overnight in the gap that didn't include a meal so this place was key. Lots of selections- I have the cali chicken club but am anxious to get back and try others. It's not listed as byob but I saw a few other bike packers with beer so I went and grabbed one out of my pack and nobody said anything to me.
