Oh Nadege. Two words. Almond croissant. TO DIE FOR! Seriously, any other almond croissant you have ever tried, please dismiss that now. The ones at Nadege has a filling..oh the filling..it's something no other establishment can duplicate. It's melt in your mouth goodness. The only other croissant that has ever come close, was one I tried in Miami. Even then, it still wasn't quite like Nadege. I never even cared for almond croissants before coming here 5 or 6 years ago. However, once I tried the one at Nadege, it changed my life forever. I'd have to say their macarons are some of the best I've ever had in the GTA. Next to Ruelo, these macarons are excellent. I've kind of grown out of my macaron phase but whenever I'm in the area, even if I don't feel like one, I ALWAYS get an almond croissant. They do tend to sell out, so if you're going there specifically for croissants, call ahead to put some aside. My mom has also recently fallen in love with the croissants that she will drive all the way to Toronto from Brampton just to pick up a whole box of them. I've tried the plain and the chocolate almond croissants, but again, they're just not the almond ones. Although, they are still good. Especially the plain one, when warmed up. I just have this weakness when it comes to croissants, cakes, nice chic cafe and smiley/friendly staffs. Nadege Patisserie just makes me feel so happy inside when I saw all those rainbow colours macarons. So pretty and with so many flavours, which makes deciding which one to get one of the hardest part. (pumpkin, salted caramel and pistichio) I like the salted caramel the best because it is not too sweet and the little salty taste did bring extra dimension to the taste. For the pistichio, my friend cannot even tell what that flavour is ...just pure sweetness! The Almond Croissant ($3.00) is a little too sweet, too heavy for my taste. But I have this weekness for almond so I still give it an A-OK. Best to eat that as a dessert with a sugarless cup of coffee. Yes it is really buttery and I am not going to think about the trans fat or calories..... There are free sample of homemade marshmellow for us to sample. I recently took a pastry class where we were making paris brest, eclairs, and a lemon tart. I've taken a lot of baking and pastry classes so I admittedly came with some expectations. The first was that the class would be making all of the ingredients themselves and then assembling. With the exception of the pastry, which has to chill overnight, we should have been able to make more than one component and all of the fillings ourselves but instead we had to watch a demonstration. What made it worse was, they told us there may not be enough filling for anyone to fill more than a single pastry. This included a limited supply of raspberries. How chintzy. While the instructor was good, I really wished he would have left the Nadege sales pitch out of the class, and there was a lot of it. In short, this will be my last class with Nadege. read more

One of my favourite dessert places in Toronto. They have so many options from plain croissants, almond or chocolate croissants, mini donut cakes and cheesecakes. I haven't tried many of their options but their croissants, danishes, berry tarts and lemon cheesecake is really delicious. I love coming here in summer, having a coffee and pastry. They have a lovely outside patio however it might be impossible to sit there because of all the bees. They will come to steal your sweets for sure. On the other hand this place has some un knowledgeable employees who don't know what's inside the pastries, they all guess. At one time my husband asked what's inside one of the cakes and they all said nothing inside. My husband pointed out that there should be something as he can see some sort of filling coming out. They still said it's nothing. After a while they all guessed what it could be. My husband ended up buying it and we found out it was nothing what they mentioned it could be. (Once at the Danish Pastry House we asked what's inside the pastry. The employee answered, "I'm not sure, let me cut it open and see. You can also try if you like it!". One simple word. Yum. End of review. Kidding! This is a place you go get those oh so cute little desserts to impress your friends or a date! They look like little works of art. I chose the Purple Pom Pom which was light and delicious. Shaped like a little ball, filled with ricotta cheese and jam this is a burst of flavour in your mouth. I also got the chocolate madelines which were so lovely. They have macarons here but haven't tried them to see if they rival Paris. There is a small but nice patio outside so you can sit and people watch. Of course not the cheapest place but the quality and service is there. 4.5 stars ... the croissants are deserving to be in any top Toronto croissant list Nadege is one of the queens of any Toronto list of best bakery, croissants, macaron... you get the idea. It is anything that has to do with sweets. Unlike some bakeries, this place also serves up several sandwich, salads, and soup options to round out a nice cafe experience. It is right at the corner of Trinity Bellwoods park and perfect for a pick me up to sit in the park or enjoy in the heated (or A/C) cute cafe. The cafe isnt too large but enough to allow several tables in the back to sip on hot teas and devour any of the great pastries. The atmosphere is callback to the days of the vibrant candy shades of the 1990s iMac. Clean whites interspersed with bold fuchsia, lime greens, electric turquoise, and energetic rose pinks. The associates here are all helpful... each knowing the flavours and willing to offer their take on the better choices. We ended up grabbing a few viennoiserie, a few mini canele, and a petite cake to go. All in, it was $25. Sure ... steep but this was breakfast and the night's dessert. It was good to try the fabled croissants. Almond Croissant - I am never a fan of buying viennoiserie so late in the afternoon... usually the croissants are soggier and just a tad sad compared to buying them in the morning. I was incredibly surprised to find this to be still nicely layered with crunchy edges. It was nice to see Nadege not afraid of pushing the envelope of a deeper brown bake. Lots of rich flavour from the butter, sweetened creamy almond filling, and deep caramel browned bread. For an almond croissant, I felt this is one of the fluffier (is that even a word?) ones in Toronto. 5/5 Kouign amann - Another great viennoiserie made by Nadege. Though this was more dense with it's rich buttery dough that folds in a lot sugary edges, I found this to be a nice version especially after heating this in the oven for a bit. The almond croissant was still my favourite but this is worthy of a bite. 4.5/5 Canele - This is my 2nd time trying it at Nadege and comparing it to my other two favourites (Blackbird and Roselle). I found Nadege to be close but not quite as good. The price wise, it's very good to have 3 mini versions for only a dollar. What was missing on these canele was the nice firm crystallized crust that shattered and gave way to soft spongey vanilla rum interior. It was all soft. The flavour could have been a bit better. Still not a bad rendition 3.5/5 Cadeau - Flavour wise... the associate said this was firmly his favourite of the seasonal offerings. I have to agree. The super rich and mousse like marscapone enveloped a vibrant berry gelee and a lime burst. It was cutely wrapped up like a gift in a flourescent blood orange shade and a white chocolate bow that was made to look gold. I thought this was very good... for the price of $10, it was on the steep side even if it was very pretty looking but small. If it was $8 or $9, the price would have more palatable. 4/5 Im more than happy to return back to Nadege to try more of their viennoiserie. I think I'll be more careful to select their desserts... though I think their flavours are on point, the prices make them less of a weekly occurence and more of a seasonal treat. read more

Lovely addition to Queen West West. The simple, white decor is gorgeous and the service is excellent. Staff will patiently explain each pastry and offer suggestions. I had the "Marie Antoinette", a sort of mousse covered in multicoloured mini-macaroons. So cute! (and almost too pretty to eat). They serve Kusmi teas and even give you a little timer to bring to your table so you know exactly how long to steep your tea. They also have a few sandwiches and sell tins of Kusmi teas, homemade marshmallows, and other gifts. read more

I discovered Nadege together with a fellow yelper because it was cold outside and we needed a sweet treat. And oh lucky us! Well this is probably one of the best and nicest bakeries in Toronto. Decoration is super simple but elegant and relaxing at the same time. Decided to try their mini coffee chocolate cake and it was quite spectacular, soft coffee flavour and perfect light texture, I enjoyed it so much and left looking forward to trying their macarons the next time. I also like the fact that they offer several savory items, like sandwiches and croissants. My wallet was a bit hurt when I left tho, but totally worth it. I was shocked by the various boujee looking juice to the gold sprinkles on a coffee dessert. The options were endless and the place was soooooo nice to just eat at. One of the things I do when visiting a new city is, scope out their macarons. It had great reviews and eye dropping pictures of the Marie Antoinette tarts that I had made sure we made a stop here. Wow!!!!! Perfect crispy flaky perfect croissant with tender center. The layers are gorgeous. The fig/goat cheese/arugula combo made me WEAK, and the almond croissant had a lovely amount of marzipan filling--possibly best almond croissant I've ever had. Walking in, you're greeted with a beautiful array of pastries and cakes as well as an equally lovely dining area. Despite that, I personally found that the pastries looked far better than they tasted. My friend and I ordered the Eclipse cake and Marie Antoinette tart. Maybe I'm just used to strong flavours, but I found the blood orange flavour to be quite lacking in the Eclipse cake. It wasn't until we were multiple spoonfuls in that we could taste a hint of the orange flavour. The Marie Antoinette tart is adorable but tastewise, is pretty similar to any other pastry I've had before. So is it worth it? Factoring in the ~$10 per cake (incl. tax + tip) and gorgeous presentation, it seems promising but IMHO tastes about the same as any other cake. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT YOUR PRODUCT!!!!! The cafe is great, and needless to say, the food is great. However let's not forget the importance of customer service and that every customer counts, at least ones who have been regular. I live around the corner from the cafe and because in the past I have received great service from the cafe's team, I somehow made it my regular morning stop on my way to work. However today, morning was a bit different. Yes, it was crowded and I looking at the state of the people in the cafe requested one of the cafe's team members to clean up one of the tables. She, in a very dismissive, condescending, rude way, without even looking at me adopted a very offensive tone. The question was simple "Can you please clean that table, I would like to sit there', her reply was - 'no I cannot, you can bring your stuff to some other table'. Written words do not do justice to the way it was said. The cafe's team member was so rude in her tone and expressions that other customers took good notice of what happened. Upon finishing my snack went to the team member and simply told her to mind her tone, and because I work in customer service too, I have been given the good wisdom of not dissing the customers. I told her 'Don't be rude and the same information could be conveyed in a slightly nicer way'. Her reply to me was 'I AM NOT READY TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION WITH YOU!'  Now, being a consumer and someone who works behind the counter too, I understand the value of good customers, customers who are polite and I expect Nadège Patisserie's team to do the same. In my opinion, being delusional about your success can bring you down, that's how it starts, no matter how many good reviews you receive. I am very sure if that team member had been rude to someone else, a scene would have been created right away in the morning. I have been to the cafe a lot of times, I have had some very good conversations with their team members, but this one angry, super angry, worked-up team member created a very wrong impression of the cafe. The simple rule is, do not bring your attitude to work! I called up the manager, I got to know the name of the person serving me. I am refraining from using her name in this post. The owner said, they are young kids and they were very busy this morning, apologies were exchanged but somehow my opinion about their hospitality Theis completely ruined.  This particular experience almost felt like a penalty for being a loyal customer. As an international student living in this city, I am trying to embrace its multicultural vibe. As a loyal supporters of Nadege, their product had amazed our friends and families for many years. As usual, we decided to use Nadege for birthday this year. We ordered a 10 ppl cake for a birthday party. We opted for delivery services, which I believe it would be professional. Paid 40 dollars for delivery, the driver's called was missed, therefore no cake for the birthday lady. Tried calling back 7 times to the driver , text message, hoping that i can drive to whereever he was, no answer. Called the queen shop for assistance more than 10 times, everything they said don't worry, if no one was there, he will leave at the door. We'll guess that didn't happened. Called head office, no refund, it was my fault for not picking up my phone, not having a paper saying to leave at door if no one opens door, company policies, and there was nothing they can do. So you take my money and you don't care about anything else. Very happy birthday, with no cake, no call backs, no refunds, and I guess no more supports to Nadege. This place is always hopping with people! It's located in the trendy Queen West neighbourhood so there are tons of people particularly in the summer, out and about checking out shops, walking dogs, meeting for coffee. The energy of the 'hood is not lost on Nadege. They do have a patio so there is a lot of room for seating. What I liked about this place is that there was lots of options do desserts to choose from and a number of pastries with names like Pink Blossom, Ultra Violet, and Marie Antoinette, so you can actually keep going back week after week if you're curious. The service was fast. It does get pretty busy in there so be prepared for it to be a bit noisy. I'd def give it another visit next time I'm in the area and maybe take some treats to go or select something as a gift from one of their custom gift boxes, like a box of bonbons or macrons or even customize my own. read more

I heard about Nadege and thought I could get a nostalgic taste of my home, such a disappointment. - The macarons are dry as hell and flavourless. I have the feeling it does SCAM people in Canada, because it is way too expensive for the quality ! Kind of surprised I haven't reviewed this spot as have been visiting this spot since they opened up a while ago with the lineups out the door. Ah well better late than never. This store has expanded to a few locations which is great if you are a fan of good baked items and desserts. The setup is spartan but functional which is just fine. Seating is decent as well. I like they rotate some of their desserts as I have found a new enticing item on almost every visit. Most of the new items have been decent not a complete miss yet. They are a bit pricey but that seems to be the norm for decent dessert spots over the city. Another plus is they are open lateish which is great if you just want to grab and go after work hours. I usually stop by if I'm in the area just to pick up a whole bunch of Cannele but if you come too late in the day, they'll be sold out. Their canneles are perfect! Carmelized on the outside but still soft and dense on the inside. It's got a rich vanilla flavour that just makes you melt inside. I liked how the website allowed me to preorder everything, write the HBD to, pay for it and was ready to be picked up...the convenience was definitely a plus ....I did all that but my friends bf ended up picking it up as it worked better in coordination... This quaint shop is in a great location right next to the park. Incidentally, despite its location, I've never had difficulty finding street parking around here. I was up early...err... before 10am on a Sunday, and my partner and I decided to take a stroll and grab a diner breakfast. As we were walking, we passed pristine Nadege, and he inquired about it. He loves canales and croissants and all sweets, it was early enough that this patisserie wasn't packed, so I decided this was a decent replacement for a greasy spoon. Nadage is so beautiful! The treats are lined up in precise French fashion and the lights shine down on each row of sugar like they're Tiffany jewelry. How can you not instantly love it here? I opted for an egg and ham croissant and a cranberry orange fizz with an almond croissant to go for later, and he had the pain au chocolat and the canales. We sat on the patio facing Trinity Bellwoods and watched Toronto's morning people, young families and walk-of-shamers, stroll along. Sitting at Nadage before it gets busy is a serene experience, designed to remind you that everything is going to be OK. Well, the 100th review goes to NADEGE. I'm shocked I haven't reviewed this place yet...or am I just saving it for the 100th review. Nevertheless, if you are in TORONTO and you LOVE MACARONS, COME HERE NOW. Literally, the best macarons you have eat in Toronto. Please come to this location, you can literally see the pastry chefs inside making the macarons and other treats too. The macarons are average sized, though there are plenty of flavours. Yes, there is food colouring, but they aren't overboard. They hire just the right amount of staff, so you won't have to wait awfully long to get these treats! My favourites here are usually the rose, green tea, pistachio, vanilla and salted caramel. The first bite: the shell gently cracks and the shell has the flavor of the description on it. The filling, ALSO has an awesome complimentary flavour. It's smooth, creamy, and not too much to overfill the macaron but just enough. There's definitely something that makes it a step down from Laduree, but DEFINITELY, THE BEST MACARON place in Toronto. read more

Okay, so yeah, the macarons and croissants are TO DIE FOR. We came at the top of the morning, so they were SUPER FRESH. Though we were in a time crunch, we managed to get 1 chocolate custard croissant ($5), and a dozen of their famous macarons ($25). All of the macarons were delicious! :) With an airy initial bite, followed with the chewy filling, simply perfection in my book! My favorite was the peppermint/eucalyptus flavor, followed by the strawberry cream. The size was bigger than what I expected, especially after what other Yelpers said. Regardless, it's quality over quantity for me, and each bite was refreshingly sweet without being overpowering; just how I like my desserts. Since we didn't get to sit in and munch, we didn't get to try their coffees or teas, so that's probably the only thing that I would have loved to pair it with. Next time! The chocolate croissant was sooo good too. Flaky without being too light and crumbly and not too buttery, the flavors were so balanced. Even though the chocolate wasn't the dark chocolate kind, it wasn't too sweet either. I'd prefer a bit more bitterness, but it was still wonderful. Filling to pastry ratio was balanced, if not a bit more generous than what I expected. The storefront itself, as others have mentioned, is really modern and minimal. White walls, and clean display cases showcasing the works of art (I mean, pastries). I simply adored their packaging, reflective of Nadege's philosophy and brand image. Across the way, there's Trinity Bellwoods Park, with plenty of space to hang out and lounge. Parking, as with most places in the city, is a pain and practically non-existent. You're better off trying to take the TTC, but if you're an out of towner like me, circle around until you're dizzy and/or park on the side streets. ;) Bottom line, pricey but worth it. Boy oh boy can looks be deceiving! Beautiful, modern store...lots of white, glass, and clean! Lines of pastries, dessert, and sandwiches. No trays...just all pretty and lined up. We ordered 2 sandwiches. One was the daily special of bacon and avocado, and the other was a French salami. Yuck! They were both so overrated. The bread was dry and crumbled, and the fillings were so scarce you'd have to look through a microscope to find them. The chocolate almond croissant was okay, a tad dry, and nothing like Amandine's! The caneles were spot on but they alone wouldn't save Nadege from my poor review. Go elsewhere! read more

I ended up in this pastry shop with some co-workers one evening after dinner. I'm not really a big fan of pastries but decided to buy some treats to share with the group. Prices were on the higher end at $6 - $8 but I was curious. I tried four different items: 1) Salted Caramel Tart - This was my favourite. Not overly sweet, just perfect if you love caramel (4/5). 2) Matcha Cake - If you like green tea, this is the cake for you. The green tea flavour was subtle and not over powering (3.5/5). 3) Cherry Cheesecake - just average in my opinion, nothing special and not worth $7 at all (2.5/5). 4) Carrot Cake - I liked the cream cheese icing but there was not enough cake base. It was too sweet (2/5). I would recommend the salted caramel tart and Matcha cake but would skip the cherry & carrot cakes. Overall I'm not convinced the cakes are worth the price but in fairness, I'm not really a pastry expert or even a very big fan of cakes. PS - The take out boxes look amazing and are really unique... I walked past Nadege one day and marked it on my "places to go list" for a future visit (Ok, I don't really have a list - I just told someone to remind me) - and finally made it there for a Saturday lunch. Immediately we were greeted and asked what we want. We ordered two sandwiches - one a turkey with home made cranberry sauce, one a salami with brie cheese, and luckily found a seat. The first "hm, maybe this place is too expensive for me" moment came with our sandwiches came to $20 - but luckily they were totally delicious (though teeny tiny). We then went up for a "dessert round" and had 4 macarons (pistachio, rose, cappuccino and the strange one, chestnuts and cranberry) - which were quite attractive and well made. However, since having macarons in Paris, I've become a bit of a snob and really don't think the flavors stood out as much as I would have hoped, especially considering these four tiny desserts cost an additional $10. One big flaw about the ordering system is that everything is extremely rushed - I didn't even know they had soup until the person seated next to me got their order. I was especially disappointed because the soup looked absolutely amazing! I just feel like it would be extremely helpful to have a menu listed somewhere, or at least give people a little more time to decide before rushing them through. Another note of annoyance was the "no pictures" rule. They couldn't prevent me taking pictures of my own food though! (HA!). Overall, I'm happy I came here to try what seems to be a delicious sandwich shop for rich Torontonians, however, I doubt I'll be back. I only had the madeleines near the end of the day so maybe this review is unfair, but these cakes were dry, old and terrible. The macarons were also OK and a little too sweet without the balance in flavour. If you want real French pastries, go to Pape station and visit Douce France. Their pastries are incredible. I finally made it out to Nadege. Although it felt like I had to walk through the Bronx to arrive here (as walking along various intersections of Queen Street West can be nerve-wracking with all the "ecclectic" people that hang out on its curbs)... I made it! Here's my verdict... Macarons: I got the Vanilla, Pistachio, Salted Caramel and Chestnut flavoured macarons. I personally had the salted caramel and chestnut ones. Texture-wise, 5 stars, taste-wise, 4 stars because I found the macarons to be too sweet. As a result, it wouldn't have mattered what the flavours of the Macarons were, the sugar would've overpowered their key/signature ingredient. I have only had Macarons from Petite Thuet, McEwan's @ Don Mills, and now, Nadege. Hands down, Nadege has been the best among the 3. Croissants: I bought plain butter and almond croissants, as well as a pain au chocolat. I personally had the almond croissant. Unfortunately, I bought it towards the end of the day, and didn't actually eat it until this morning... But it was still really yummy! I think I preferred the croissant over the macarons and can't wait to try the other varieties. I walked out $20 poorer. While the goodies at Nadege are not cheap, its a pastry shop that is worth indulging in every now and then. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit Nadege, but if I'm in the area I'd definitely stop by. I will agree with other Yelpers that the overall experience would be more pleasant if only the owner could somehow get its staff to smile, or maybe s/he is the reason they don't smile? Maybe someone should botox the right muscles to make sure they have a permanent smile. read more

Finally got to try this place! The interior is bright, clean, modern, with a great view of Trinity-Bellwoods Park. Service was mediocre, I was served by two very snotty girls. I ordered several macarons (chestnut, mojito, blackberry, salted caramel). The flavours and textures were quite good, however, one was rock hard stale. I also ordered three mini canele, which also had a stale one in the bunch. The canele flavour was right up my alley though: rich, eggy, vanilla-beany, like a chewy creme brulee the size of a thimble. I find for the price though, the level of freshness was inconsistent. I would visit again only if I was in the area, but it's not worth a drive in from the surrounding GTA. read more

I think the reason my review is so low is affected by the fact I had to WALK here from eaton's centre in -10C degree weather. :( Boyfriend told me it's a 'bit' past bathurst ... definitely NOT LOL. Here's a tip- take the ttc. But of course, that is not Nadege's fault.. The shop is bright and set up cutely. They have all types of pastries, cakes and macarons. What attracted me the most was the bar of chocolate bars. (Pun intended) They have a different chocolate flavour with every letter of the alphabet. Eg. A for almond, B for banana, J for jasmine etc! The dynamite pop rocks one was bomb. The other ones.. not so worth it. Almond chocolate for $9? No.. just no. I don't think $9 chocolate is worth it.. ever. But I had to get some just to try. The macarons are delightful! Though I'm not a huge fan of how sweet this treat is, the texture in the macarons in this patesserie are AMAZING! Soft and chewy but also has that /macaron/ feel when you bite into it- I hope you know what I'm talking about. They have a lot of flavours too. Prices for macarons are $2.30 each, $5~ for two and $27~ for a dozen. Meh, prices are average. Servers are also really nice and they'll walk your purchase to you, like they do in those fancy schmancy shops. I may return.. if I don't have to walk this time. read more
