We visited Naan Appetit for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. There are a couple of notable things about Naan Appetit that I feel I must share because there is a similarly highly rated Indian restaurant within a stones throw away from Naan that it that also deserves comparison. I will review that restaurant under separate cover, but just know that when comparing this one to Persis, I would rate Naan Appetit as the better restaurant. But ultimately they are two different experiences within the Indian food category and for that reason are very hard to compare (more on that in the Persis review). But now let's talk about Naan Appetit. So what I really like about this restaurant is the value for the ambience and atmosphere. This is a very nicely appointed restaurant that I actually thought was a furniture store before we realized it was an actual restaurant. Very well appointed well designed and upscale in look, feel and function. Service is very strong with multiple servers and front of house greeting you immediately upon entry. We were seated within 3 to 5 minutes of walking in, and this was on a Friday night with a fairly full house. Once we were seated, our server immediately came over, provided us with menus and gave us a bit of information about the restaurant. We then proceed to ask a couple of questions about level of spice, and were really pleased with the servers descriptions of the various items on the menu and which ones we may or may not want to avoid depending on our spice level preference. I really appreciated the way the menu was set up which allowed for fairly easy decision making when it came to what we wanted to order. We went with mostly traditional entrees, ordering the lamb vindaloo, and the korma. Both were authentic and very well seasoned and spiced. We also ordered a couple of the garlic butter Naan bread, which were also really good. And lastly, we tried out the tandoori wings, which I had read on previous Yelp reviews were a highlight of the restaurant. When we first asked the server about them, he seemed a bit reluctant to recommend them because of the time it would take for them to be delivered to our table, which was approximately 30 minutes. We told him we weren't in a rush and didn't have anywhere else to be so we were totally fine with ordering them. It turns out that they ended up coming to the table before our appetizers even made it. So a bit of an overblown concern there. Outside of that little wrinkle, our overall experience was really pleasurable, especially given the sub $100 price point we paid including tip. This is definitely one of the restaurants we will be going to during our stay here in Savannah. And if I had to give the best advice on the difference between this restaurant and the other, I would say pick this for date night and pick the other one for family night. read more

I got chicken vindaloo and it was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of spice to it and I like it spicy! The service was good and the ambiance was very family friendly and a casual atmosphere. Dropped into Naan Appetit near Savannah/Pooler, and wow... did not expect it to be this good. The place looks awesome inside--super spacious, modern, and clean with a chill vibe that makes you actually want to hang out and enjoy the food. We kicked things off with the crispy chilli baby corn, and it was straight-up snack heaven. Crunchy, spicy, saucy -- basically everything you want in an appetizer. Washed it down with a mango lassi that was creamy and refreshing without being sugary sweet. Already winning at this point. But then... the kebab platter showed up. And I swear, it's one of the best kebabs I've had in a long time. So flavorful, juicy, perfectly cooked -- the kind of dish that makes you stop talking mid-sentence. We also tried their special biryani, and it hit all the right notes -- aromatic, tasty, and not greasy at all. It's obligatory to start with a MANGO LASSI to have on hand just in case the situation gets a bit spicy! The buffet included VEGGIE PAKORA, CHILI CORN for small bites. Entrees included FIVE SPICE CHICKEN, BUTTER CHICKEN, DAL MAKHNI, and more. The GARLIC BASMATI EGG FRIED RICE is so good! Bits of cabbage and bell pepper and carrot give it wonderful color and flavor. There were two desserts - a colorful crunchy syrupy one and then a CARROT HALWA. Both texturally great with wonderful gingery flavors. Decided to drive down from Bluffton, SC to try this restaurant, and we are so glad we did. Slightly crowded, but still seated quickly. The staff was super attentive and answered questions concerning flavor profiles for some dishes as I have a very picky eater in my crew. We all decided on our dishes and ordered. Enjoyed a naan sampler, okra fries, chicken dum biryani, garlic chicken and Hakka noodles. The servings were large enough that we all shared and still had leftovers. Came here for a late lunch today and ordered the Salmon Tikka Masala and let me tell you something!!! It was phenomenal! I also got the garlic naan and it was freshly prepared and the flavor was AMAZING! I can't really rate the service because I grabbed it to go but the staff was professional. Absolutely delicious vegan options and no animal had to be shoved into the slaughterhouse for my meal. The only reason I removed one star is because the amount of oil is insane, and I know it's not healthy. "The fat you eat is the fat you wear." I was around the corner and wanted to give this fantastic Indian restaurant a try. First, the server was straight forward when I walked in, you can try what they have on the menu or you can get their buffet which I did. The all you can eat buffet was a fantastic choice as it had every assortment of Indian dishes you can think of but the favorite of mine were the butter chicken and tandoori chicken with rice and naan. It's in a relatively banal strip mall around the airport, unlike its sister restaurant in the historic part of Savannah. However, once you're inside, it's a cavernous space with an impressive selection of food. I've been to plenty of Indian restaurants in the South, but it still strikes me with I'm addressed with a local accent at a place that makes cuisine from the other side of the world (the exact opposite point from Savannah is in the Indian Ocean). Their Indo-Chinese specialties were trumpeted and looked good, but I settled for a more basic order of an aloo tikki chaat, freshly fried potato patties with a chickpea covering and a whole bunch of other flavors, as well as a bhindi masala, a high-fiber stir-fried okra dish. It was an exciting mix of tastes and I used more than one glass of iced tea to wash it down. Despite the weather being bad, the place was getting crowded by the time I left. The man who took our order was very knowledgeable about what was in each dish, so we made sure that none of the things we ordered had methi. Everything was delicious! Picked up my Wife @ the airport in Savannah and found this gem. The exterior and interior are pleasant and inviting. Once in the door we were promptly greeted and seated. A quick trip to the restroom exposed a buffet set up in a small room that they offerduringtheweek. That excited me, as I was introduced to Indian food in NYC in 90's where they had an abundance of $5 Indian lunch buffet places. So right away I was pleased. Our waiter Alwin was happy to answer all our questions and let me reminisce about Indian food in NYC. My wife had the Butter Chicken and I had Tikka Masala, with a side of Tandon Chicken. I live over the boarder in SC where it is an Indian Food desert, but thank God that Naan Appetit is only 30 mins from my home since their food is fantastic! You can order your dishes to your spice level and it is always spot on! My favorite go tos are the Lamb Korma and Bargain Bartha and I am never disappointed. I haven't had anyone complain about their food when I brought them here and they loved it. They are located in a shopping plaza with other interesting restaurants and the interior is modern and tasteful. The staff is always friendly and attentive, although they tend to be busy every night of the week (there is a reason why). My only sadness is that I haven't been able to make it during lunch for their extensive buffet, but I will have to go in the future on a weekend. I am glad to have found my new Indian place since recently moving to the area. read more

Chicken, chicken, and more chicken. Not much variety here. Naan bread was cold and chewy. Chicken dishes were uneventful and bland. Most Indian dishes we've had at other places were spicy and flavorful. Maybe they left the spicy ingredients out of their dishes because people who weren't attuned to true Indian dishes would be put off. What an amazing Indian spread. Delicious buffet. We loved so many dishes - tandoori chicken was the most delicious I've had in a recent past. Chili corn was done perfectly. Chicken curries were all so good, not too spicy.. and curries were well seasoned. Only disappointment was the dessert. Naan is some of the better Indian food in the area. Not to say it's great but it's pretty dang tasty and can solve an Indian fix in a heart beat. They do pretty well and have many options to choose from on the menu. All the way from classics to more adventurous plates to choose from. I love the malai kofta with the jeera rice.
