Persis Indian Grill has delicious food! It is a must visit in Pooler. The restaurant is located right across the street from Goodwill. It has a small parking lot. When you enter the restaurant you will find that it is spacious. It has a good bit of seating too. The customer service is excellent. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. We needed help with an allergy. The menu is marked but he told us they were able to make certain dishes diary free if asked. My goat biryani was delightful. The goat was tender. There were many pieces of it too! The rice was seasoned to perfection. I wish I could have eaten it all. I was more than happy to take the leftovers home with me. This is another moment where I really wish Yelp allowed half stars because this is technically a 3.5 review, not a four. And the only reason this isn't a four was primarily tied to Service. But more on that later. First, I want to start with the review on the food, which technically was a solid four if not, a 4 1/2. This is very authentic. Indian food served in a very modest dining room setting in family style plating. Prices are fairly reasonable, but as with other restaurants in this area, you are paying a bit of a premium because of the overall area itself. That being said, this is a very accessible menu, which primarily pushes the Non Indian customers towards the more popular, Indian entrees, where they feature a mix and match protein style. We had dinner there with another couple that was in town visiting and they also were Indian food fans, and coincidentally, familiar with the restaurant themselves. We all ordered traditional entrees, along with a couple of drinks. For one of our diners, they ran out of Coors light when he tried to order a second so he switched to a Coke afterwards. Now on to the service. My main complaint here may have just been tied to our specific server, but there just seemed to be a bit of condescending energy with the way in which he approached taking the order. Even though we are very familiar with Indian food, we had not seen this Asian-Indian sub menu before and started asking questions about some of the items on the menu. There was a fried rice dish and a fried noodle dish that were approximately $15-$16 in price which made us think they were entrees. When we asked the server about the entrees, he condescendingly corrected us by telling us they were appetizers and instead of pointing out other things on that part of the menu that we might've been interested in as a entree, he pushed us back to the traditional Indian standards almost as if to say, don't venture off of the beaten path and stick to something that likely won't disappoint you. I'm never a big fan of servers shepherding Non members of the culture to the basic and most popular entrees. When I go to an Indian restaurant, I don't always want somebody to recommend tandoori chicken and Nan bread when there are so many other diverse dishes on the menu. We also found the same server to be a bit slow when it came to clearing the table and coming back to check on everybody after entrées had been delivered. From looking around in the restaurant, it appeared to me that this was a popular choice with Indian families in the area, and I am pretty sure that was primarily tied to the quality of the food and the authenticity. However, I would definitely not recommend this as a date spot and would recommend heading over to Naan Appetit instead if that's the Vibe you're looking for. Overall, not a bad choice. depending on what you're looking for. But as good as this is, still not the best choice for Indian food in the area. read more

This is a solid Indian establishment. I loved the warm welcoming environment. The menu items were plentiful. We decided on our standard favorites which included GARLIC NAAN, LAMB VINDALOO, MANGO LASSI and BUTTER CHICKEN. All amazingly cooked well. It's always so nice to randomly try a local restaurant and be wowed by the care and love they put into nourishing others. I would love to come back soon to try more dishes. The Tandoori chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. The Lamb Roganjosh had the perfect kick and was also very tender. The naan was hot and fresh from the oven. This place is in a shopping complex near the airport. I would rather be eating in Savannah or the islands if I had the option, so presumably many people will be stopping as I was before a flight. I was pleased with the range of vegetarian classics on the menu, and went with a chana bhatura. The bread was a bunch of little ones rather than one large one, which is always a bit disappointed, but the chickpeas that I asked for Indian hot and had to press for delivered a robust spice level. A mulligatawny soup was milder (as ordered) but still strongly flavorful. I didn't spend the rest of the day drinking water as I sometimes do with these items, so that's good. Strangely, they were out of chai so I did not opt for any drink other than water. In the event that I was passing through here again, they would be a reasonable stop by my standards. read more

I got the goat vindaloo (spicy) and the garlic chili naan. It was excellent! Great flavors, tender and a good amount goat in the vindaloo (so much, that I had to get another side of jasmine rice). Watch out! The goat meat is still on the bone, the way it should be cooked and served. The naan was fresh and hot (spicy too). Be sure to save a piece of naan to mop up all of the delicious sauce remaining in the pot. Service was good. Server and manager checked in frequently but not annoyingly frequent. Canned soft drinks not fountain beverages. Would have like more than 12 oz of a cold soft drink to cool down the heat of the dish. (Yes, Karen, I could have ordered another can, but cans? Really? fountain drinks would have gotten this review to 5 Star. Menu was comprehensive and included many vegetarian choices. The restaurant was clean and well cared for. While I was there two local families were seated. Great sign when you see big families eating together, having fun and laughing together. That's the sign of a quality, locally owned restaurant. Yesterday, June 4, we had a dinner at this place. The place was very clean and inviting. The place was well lit and free of odor. The female hostess was friendly and respectful. We ordered, fried papad, Malai kofta, Lassoni palak, dal, onion kulcha and garlic nan. All four of us liked each and every item. The palak had a cubes of Amul cheese in it. It was smooth and tasty. The curry for malai kofta was delicious. Dal was slightly spicy and had a good taste to it. All the food was served at a proper temrature. The mama and the kulcha were baked right. We were given a pitcher of water for the table which I can appreciate because the amount of spice that I like on my food, I need water!! They have a full bar and we ordered Corona's. For appetizer, we ordered the garlic naan and lamb samosas. Both were delicious! My husband ordered the lamb chops and the seasoning and taste were perfect! I ordered the lamb seekh kebabs and I truly enjoyed my dish! The food here is authentic and delicious! Our waiter was attentive and came to get our dirty dishes very quickly from the table. Love Persis! The Bhindi is delicious. All the other patrons were Indian (except for us) - I noticed that the Indian community was there with family in large groups. 10 - 12 people at a table. This was overwhelming the kitchen and dining room staff. They are not trained to handle the volume. The last time we were there they were slammed and after we walked in they literally put the "CLOSED" sign on the door - before closing time. They just could not handle any more customers. We waited and it took a while to be seated. They could not even buss the tables...they were loaded with dirty dishes which remained on the tables for a lengthy period of time. The staff is awesome - very friendly and considerate. BUT - they just don't seem to be able to knock it out...kind of running around in circles and not focused on getting the job done.
