If you haven't been to Naan and Beer, drop everything and go. My husband and I had a meal there that was nothing short of incredible! We kicked things off with the Chicken Samosa with Chaat and--OMG--mind-blowing. It was easily the best I've ever had; if I were forced to pick a favorite from the night, this would be it. We followed that up by splitting the Butter Chicken Fries (pure heaven), the Meat Combo Plate (absolutely packed with flavor), and some perfect Garlic Naan. Honestly, every single bite was a 10/10. To wash it all down, they have a fantastic beer selection with five IPAs on tap. We shared a Reuben's Brews IPA, which was the perfect crisp pairing for the spices. What really made the night, though, was the vibe. Everyone there was so incredibly nice. Our waitress/bartender was so kind and helpful, and even the chef came out to chat with us! I had a wonderful meal there--and was promptly served by my delightful, helpful server. The chicken samosas were very nice--the sauce, almost perfume-like (in a nice way!) I don't know which was my favorite: the absolutely silken, delicious Butter Chicken or the prawns. I am kicking myself because I don't know which prawn preparation, but it was recommended by our server and it was fantastic. The prawns were fat and juicy and perfectly cooked and, frankly, I would love them in any of their sauces. The one recommended to us was divine. For my beverage, I tried the lassi--a totally new experience for me. I was forewarned it was a salty flavor. I am not sure I would order one again due to my taste preferences, but I would say the preparation in this restaurant was probably as perfect a one as can be. Took out a couple of dishes for lunch. They did an extra good job of packing, ensuring that not one drop of sauce leaked outside of the container. We duplicated our order from a restaurant in Lynden several days earlier: Okra (Bhindi) Masala and Eggplant (Baingan) Bharta. Spice level is 1-5. We got 4, which was a bit too hot for my husband's preferences, so be forewarned, it can be a bit spicy (a good think IMO). Both entrees were like entirely different dishes compared to what we got at the Lynden Indian restaurant. These dishes both had recognizable pieces of food, weren't cooked to death, nor swimming in oil. Spices seemed genuine, and delicious. We also got some roti. It was different from any roti we've had elsewhere. We were split on our opinion of whether or not it was good. Don't go here. With so many other authentic Indian places with good portions and fresh food why bother? Naan was obviously microwaved as it was tough and chewy. The portions are extremely small and the sauce is watered down. I had the Malai kofta- ordered it mild and it was almost too hot to eat. The Paneer pakora half order was eight dollars and you just got two little squares. I thought I was being punked when I saw what I was given after I got home. We've had takeout from this place a few times but recently sat down for the first time. Boundary Bay across the road was packed and had a 40 minute wait that we didn't want so we sat down at Naan & Brew. It was almost empty, there was only one other couple. We regretted it. All of the following things were wrong: 1. We got nickeled and dimed. Papadams came without chutney. You want a little cup of chutney, you have to buy it. 2. Spiciness was out of whack. We ordered spiciness level 3, just like we always do, everywhere. It was extremely hot. We pointed this out to the waitress and she offered to *sell* us something to soothe it. No freebies here. 3. Food was outright salty. 4. The owner or manager was taking a call in the street and then walked back in and yelled across the room to the staff to do something for him. It didn't seem respectful, neither to us nor to the staff. On summary, no atmosphere, overpriced, over-priced, food was nothing to write home about. Authentic Indian food, cooked by genuinely lovely and friendly people. Great service. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, Aloo Gobi, and Garlic Naan, oh and a cup of Chai Tea. The portion sizes were massive. It was so delicious. I knew I was full but I just kept saying "one more mouthful, just one more bite!" I ate waaay too much, I could hardly walk when I left, and even then I had enough for two more meals, which I took to eat at home. If you love real Indian Food, this is the place for you. It was a cold night and the room was not adequately heated so everyone was wearing their coats. I saw this place is efficiently operated. Loved this place! The waitress was so kind and warm to our family. The food was excellent, we were really impressed by the flavors and authenticity. If a friend were coming to town, this is the type of place I would like to take them. The ambiance was laid back and casual. The food came out quickly. Our favorite dish was the chicken tikka masala. I have to agree with all the other reviewers the garlic naan was very tasty and I got a side of the yogurt sauce it too was very tasty. The staff was very friendly and my order was ready promptly on time I did get it to go. I ordered the lamb then deliver and like another reviewer said if you asked for it spicy you're going to get it spicy which is not normal so beware!!! There really was very little protein in the sauce and more potatoes but there weren't many potatoes either the ratio should have been a little higher of protein and potatoes in the sauce, the vindaloo sauce was excellent and again spicy however I did ask for it spicy. read more

Ordered for takeout and they said food would take 15 minutes. Straight up lie. Not busy at all but still took 40 minutes to receive food. Came home and half my order was missing. Their lunch buffet is one of the best values in town. It's only $10.99, including freshly baked naan, dessert (rice pudding), and chai. They serve 6 different kinds of entrees along with vegetables pakoras and rice in the buffet (my photo). A couple of minor differences since I visited here last time (about 2years ago). The lunch buffet price changed from $9.99 to $10.99, only a $1.00 increase. They used to charge a $1.00 extra for garlic naan, but there's no extra charge. So, in terms of the price, it hasn't essentially changed since 2017! I would not say the quality of the food is top notch, but, the given the price and the selection, their lunch buffet is really great. Also, I like the fact that they ask their customers to only take what they will eat. It's just the right thing to do. Some pretty solid Indian food for white people. Zero spice level but nice flavor. I personally wanted to be kicked in the teeth with spice when I ordered the lamb vindaloo, but was disappointed in that regard. Aloo gobi was also tasty but no heat. The food at this place is amaaaaaaazing. My friend got the lamb tikka masala and I the chicken saffron. Both were superb. The gravies were nice and thick and packed with flavor and the meats were very tender. The rice is nice and fluffy and the garlic naan cooked just right. The mango lassi was good but a bit overpriced at $6.99 imho, I think I'll skip that next time. I'm not a drinker but it looked like the bar was well stocked and they offered a decent list of beers on tap. The service was fine. I felt bad because there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant, but she remained cheerful and courteous and the wait for everything wasn't bad at all, so it might have been an off-night were someone called in or something. Absolutely the worst customer service! I made an order through Uber Eats to be delivered. I ordered my son the kids butter chicken. My Uber driver contacted me after leaving the restaurant to say they would not fulfill the order because they don't "do that" and they were unable to refund me the money. She said the call Mike the manager. I called Mike who went on to cut me off multiple times while talking, told me it was my job to try and get my money back from Uber and proceeded to hang up on me. I know good Indian food is hard to find but being disrespected and stolen from by Mike the manager is NOT ok. read more

Don't go here for the ambiance, go here for the food. We paid a little more for the lamb vindaloo than other equally yummy Indian places, and it wasn't as hot as our waitress suggested, so if you are used to hot, hot Indian food, a 3 out of 5 is tooooooo low. However, where this place earns STARS is for the tender baa baa! This is the tenderest lamb I've ever had, and technically because I'm old, that is actually saying something! I also had the Daal Tarka. What's that you say? Check out the photo of creamy lentils. Delicious taste, just a tad too few lentils, but nonetheless very tasty. Place that yummy food over their basmati rice, and it is a meal fit for a ... well, anyone! Plain naan is just downright plain goodness. They have a select few beers on tap and I decided to try the porter. It is brewed locally at Oak Harbor and if you enjoy porter this will be just right to complement your meal. The decor is very minimalist. This may or may not appeal to you. (But you did come for great Indian food, right!) We arrived right as happy hour was ending and the restaurant was almost totally full. That's probably a good sign. Our meal consisted of two entrees, Lamb Vindaloo and Daal Tarka with a side of naan. An excellent choice. We ordered the Vindaloo at a level three for spicy. I could have easily had this dish hotter. The Daal Tarka was wonderful although it could have contained a few more lentils. The naan was delicious. We were greeted immediately we arrived and were seated promptly. The waitress was attentive and let me try a sample of my beer before I ordered it. Definitely worth another visit. You know a place is good when it's on your list of places to revisit before you leave town for good. Furthermore it's one of those places I found myself thinking about and wishing I could find a replica of in my new city where I moved. What makes it unique? First off, it's a modern restaurant with sleek furniture and decor. We've all been to the type of place with sitar music playing, incense burning and staff decked out in salwar suits to give you a sense of arriving in Mumbai, but this IS NOT that place. Instead, you'll find a nice bar with several local beers on tap. The music playing in the background is contemporary Western hits you will recognize. A flat screen TV airs the latest American sports. The furnishings could easily be from any American cafe in town. Although this seems ordinary for a restaurant, it's not ordinary for an Indian restaurant, which is one of the reasons I liked it. They are not trying to sell you on the whole Indian experience. The focus is the food and the attentive customer service. The Indian food served here is plentiful and delicious whether you come day or night. However, I recommend coming during the day (before 3pm) so you can take advantage of the lunch buffet. It's not a huge buffet, but there are still a variety of dishes to try. They vary each day. The wait staff will bring drinks and naan to your table. Those items are included with the cost of the lunch buffet. In the evenings you'll need to order everything ala carte. Each dish is a lot of food to tackle at night, so bring friends to share the meal family style. There are a variety of naan offerings on the menu. You'll want to try a different one each time you go. When you leave, be sure to stop and grab a palm full of sprinkles. The mukhwas or candy coated fennel and anise seeds supposedly freshen your breath and help with digestion.
