    Roti

Took out a couple of dishes for lunch. They did an extra good job of packing, ensuring that not one drop of sauce leaked outside of the container. We duplicated our order from a restaurant in Lynden several days earlier: Okra (Bhindi) Masala and Eggplant (Baingan) Bharta. Spice level is 1-5. We got 4, which was a bit too hot for my husband's preferences, so be forewarned, it can be a bit spicy (a good think IMO). Both entrees were like entirely different dishes compared to what we got at the Lynden Indian restaurant. These dishes both had recognizable pieces of food, weren't cooked to death, nor swimming in oil. Spices seemed genuine, and delicious. We also got some roti. It was different from any roti we've had elsewhere. We were split on our opinion of whether or not it was good. I enjoyed it, but my husband thought it was too "un-Roti like", whatever that means.

    $8 Paneer Pakora....

Don't go here. With so many other authentic Indian places with good portions and fresh food why bother? Naan was obviously microwaved as it was tough and chewy. The portions are extremely small and the sauce is watered down. I had the Malai kofta- ordered it mild and it was almost too hot to eat. The Paneer pakora half order was eight dollars and you just got two little squares. I thought I was being punked when I saw what I was given after I got home. You'll get better food and more for your money elsewhere. The counter service, however, was very good. I do give them that.

    Delicious!

Authentic Indian food, cooked by genuinely lovely and friendly people. Great service. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, Aloo Gobi, and Garlic Naan, oh and a cup of Chai Tea. The portion sizes were massive. It was so delicious. I knew I was full but I just kept saying "one more mouthful, just one more bite!" I ate waaay too much, I could hardly walk when I left, and even then I had enough for two more meals, which I took to eat at home. If you love real Indian Food, this is the place for you. The ambience was relaxed. The food was fragrant, aromatic, plentiful. Each mouthful bursting with lashings of flavor. Absolutely wonderful. I will be back. I want to try everything on the menu. This is now my number one restaurant in Bellingham.

Absolutely amazing! Lamb Karahi, mango chicken, butter chicken, garlic naan, rice. We also had Chicken Pakoras and Mango Lassi. Outstanding!

*chef's kiss* group of nine for dinner and everything was amazing! All things said at the table- can't get enough of it! Can I have more? Excellent service! Scrumdiddlyuptious . Great portion size. TASTY! A no leftovers restaurant. Food comma. We could go on and on!! Pakoras, butter chicken, mango chicken, naan, aloo gobi and more. So delicious and a great place to visit over a fantastic meal!!

Loved this place! The waitress was so kind and warm to our family. The food was excellent, we were really impressed by the flavors and authenticity. If a friend were coming to town, this is the type of place I would like to take them. The ambiance was laid back and casual. The food came out quickly. Our favorite dish was the chicken tikka masala. We also had an EXCELLENT coconut porter, and I could have bathed in it and drank the stuff afterwards and been as happy as a pig in poo. 10/10 will be back.

Freshly baked regular naan (included in the buffet price).

But the first hint that something wasnt right were the $6 sodas. Nowhere in Washington charges that much for soda. And it marked up from $4 - which is still the highest Ive ever seen but at least Ive seen it elsewhere. Soda is cheap, like bread and salad. I ordered my go to for new Indian restaurants - Butter Chicken. I also order Kashmiri Naan and a Chai tea. The naan was served dry - a first in my experience, but not a crime. The tea was served 10 minutes after the meal, which doesnt make sense. They tried to say it was always brewed to order, but that wasnt good kitchen management. But the Butter Chicken was very disappointing. Ive never said this about Indian cuisine before - but it was flavorless. There was a photo on the wall of every Butter Chicken Ive ever had - rish and red tomatoey and sweet and herby and smooth and luxurious. What was served was orange/brown and lumpy and.... The chicken and rice were fine - but it felt like the chef wasnt a fan of Butter Chicken and had never learned to cook it. Maybe it was a regional variation - but the huge wall photo of it was misleading. So overall think they gave some work to do to get me to come back. I can get much more agreeable food and service and prices just down the road in Bellingham without effort. I wish them the best and was struggling with leaving this review, but so many glowing reviews lured me into an uncomfortable position. It was an expensive experiment for me - even without the $6 soda (yeesh) - and I now doubt the legitimacy of the other reviewers or their experience with Indian food. Maybe they're Canadian? Canadians have different flavor expectations than Americans. But I dont know. Work on the recipes and dont gouge people.

Being somewhat of an aficionado of the local FT scene, I was surprised that I hadn't heard of this one yet: Mix Masala. Featuring a small-but-mighty menu of classic Indian dishes - like butter chicken, saag panner, pakoras and naan - the smells emanating from this truck were phenomenal. When I saw they had my fave, chicken tikka masala, on the menu I knew I had to order. The owners/staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly (they even said it was okay to take ten billion photos of their truck for my archives), and soon my steaming bowl of tasty goodness arrived while I enjoyed my Wander brew in the beer garden. The tikka masala was perfectly spiced, and the chicken was tender and plentiful. Served with a generous helping of basmati, and including a side of (just one) piece of naan, it satisfied my craving for Indian food and paired surprisingly well with my Uncommon California Common. The tikka sauce was a bit salty for my liking, but not enough to keep me from devouring most of it and taking the rest home to devour later. I'll definitely be looking for this truck again!

Once they were open I ordered pakora as an appetizer and a tikka masala for my main course. The pakora was fantastic. The tikka masala was good. In hindsight I wish I'd ordered saag paneer or chana dal instead, but that will be next time. The owners were friendly and helpful, and when I was told the food would be ready in 6 minutes, they impressed me by having it ready in about 5 minutes and 45 seconds. I will happily buy food from Mix Masala again.
