Great food & service! My friends and I were craving Indian for so long and so glad to have found this gem. The mango lassi was amazing & had no leftovers to bring home!

We wanted to try an East Indian restaurant and this place sounded interesting. The food was good and tasty. I got a mango lacci which was yummy. The service was good and friendly but there was a bit of a language barrier issue. We wanted clarification of the menu and what certain items were. The items we ordered were meat, sauce and rice but I wanted some vegetables. The server suggested an appetizer that had vegetables. Turns out it was fried grated veggies & batter, not the "veggies" I wanted. The ambience was nice, sort of typical for a small Indian restaurant. Other reviews said that they do a lot of to-go orders which is true and we were the only dine-in customers.

Really enjoyed our take out from Tandoori Bites

We did takeout as this was Valentine's Day and restaurants were crazy. Even finding a place that did takeout was a slight challenge. But for this mother-daughter road tripping pair, Tandoori Bites hit the spot. Located next to a gas station, the hole in the wall turned out to be a gem. We placed our order and pickup was spot on the time they said. The food was hot and well prepared. I noted other yelpers talking about the spice-heat levels. Ordered lowest heat and it still had fire. Biryani vegetable rice - flavorful though the vegetables in the rice kind of missed? Saag paneer/ loved this version. Slight heat and lots of flavor. Channa Masala - a favorite of both my daughter and myself. Tandoori prawns - liked a lot, especially with a squeeze of lemon. The order came with extra rice. We should have requested no rice. Our bad. Everything well packed. No leakage. A very tasty on the road Valentine's Day take out!

I checked out Tandoori Bites a couple of weeks ago while I was out running errands in the area. It has a very unimposing location in a strip mall next to a gas station, so I was hoping for a hole-in-the-wall gem and was met with tasty food and a bizarre atmosphere. Tandoori Bites has a pretty extensive lunch/student menu with some excellent deals, in addition to their full menu offerings. I settled on the butter chicken pasta and my husband ordered the fish and chips. The pasta dish was flavorful (spiced just right for medium heat) and came with a large enough portion to have for another meal. The fish and chips did not...dazzle us. It was super bland and I ended up spooning out some of the sauce from my dish to give his any flavor. So, probably avoid the fish and chips at the Indian place (not surprisingly). The restaurant had some fun devor and was already decorated for the holidays when we walked in. There is also a bar attached to the restaurant, if that's what you're looking for, too. The service was pretty slow and at one point, every staff member seemed to leave the building and come back in at once like 10 minutes later. I cannot even begin to speculate what was going on out there. Anyway! This spot has some good Indian food, but is probably better suited to take-out.

Wonderful Indian place around the area. Garlic Naan was delicious delightfully crisp, a perfect thickness. Vegetable samosas were delicious as well with both the green and purple sauces, just a touch of salt in the dough to keep things interesting. I was absolutely in love with the butter chicken, however. The blend of spices was perfect, as well as the chicken that was so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Medium spice is a wonderful amount of heat, even though I could have gone up one step more. I had also started with an Indian beer, first time I had ever seen Indian beer in an Indian restaurant. When all was said and done I still had a good amount of butter chicken and rice left to enjoy another time...which I had! I should add that this restaurant also offers a lunch buffet so if you are new to Indian cuisine, this is a WONDERFUL and inexpensive place to start.

I always thought I didn't like Indian food but oh was I wrong! Tandoori bites not only has excellent food, wonderful service and a beautiful dining environment. Not to mention they have large potions that you can share! They also have a wide variety of drinks, both nonalcoholic and alcoholic, and takeout meals. (My favorite drink is the Peru Pyala!)

Take out food :)

Being somewhat of an aficionado of the local FT scene, I was surprised that I hadn't heard of this one yet: Mix Masala. Featuring a small-but-mighty menu of classic Indian dishes - like butter chicken, saag panner, pakoras and naan - the smells emanating from this truck were phenomenal. When I saw they had my fave, chicken tikka masala, on the menu I knew I had to order. The owners/staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly (they even said it was okay to take ten billion photos of their truck for my archives), and soon my steaming bowl of tasty goodness arrived while I enjoyed my Wander brew in the beer garden. The tikka masala was perfectly spiced, and the chicken was tender and plentiful. Served with a generous helping of basmati, and including a side of (just one) piece of naan, it satisfied my craving for Indian food and paired surprisingly well with my Uncommon California Common. The tikka sauce was a bit salty for my liking, but not enough to keep me from devouring most of it and taking the rest home to devour later. I'll definitely be looking for this truck again!

Once they were open I ordered pakora as an appetizer and a tikka masala for my main course. The pakora was fantastic. The tikka masala was good. In hindsight I wish I'd ordered saag paneer or chana dal instead, but that will be next time. The owners were friendly and helpful, and when I was told the food would be ready in 6 minutes, they impressed me by having it ready in about 5 minutes and 45 seconds. I will happily buy food from Mix Masala again.

Nowhere in Washington charges that much for soda. And it marked up from $4 - which is still the highest Ive ever seen but at least Ive seen it elsewhere. Soda is cheap, like bread and salad. I ordered my go to for new Indian restaurants - Butter Chicken. I also order Kashmiri Naan and a Chai tea. The naan was served dry - a first in my experience, but not a crime. The tea was served 10 minutes after the meal, which doesnt make sense. They tried to say it was always brewed to order, but that wasnt good kitchen management. But the Butter Chicken was very disappointing. Ive never said this about Indian cuisine before - but it was flavorless. There was a photo on the wall of every Butter Chicken Ive ever had - rish and red tomatoey and sweet and herby and smooth and luxurious. What was served was orange/brown and lumpy and.... The chicken and rice were fine - but it felt like the chef wasnt a fan of Butter Chicken and had never learned to cook it. Maybe it was a regional variation - but the huge wall photo of it was misleading. So overall think they gave some work to do to get me to come back. I can get much more agreeable food and service and prices just down the road in Bellingham without effort. I wish them the best and was struggling with leaving this review, but so many glowing reviews lured me into an uncomfortable position. It was an expensive experiment for me - even without the $6 soda (yeesh) - and I now doubt the legitimacy of the other reviewers or their experience with Indian food. Maybe they're Canadian? Canadians have different flavor expectations than Americans. But I dont know. Work on the recipes and dont gouge people.

Delicious. It's tiny and takeout only, but good things come in small packages, and this is proof. The owner/chef, "Unni," went out of his way to explain the ingredients, history, and culture, while providing tasty samples of everything. He clearly takes pride in what he does, and I'll be coming back a LOT. I don't know if they're there all the time, but his two delightful children were playing while I waited, and once they got over their shyness, they couldn't have been more entertaining. They insisted on pasting stickers on their dad's face, which he wore proudly. Lots of fun. Fortunately for me, Unni serves many meat dishes (beef, pork, chicken) in addition to vegetarian fare, so there's something for everyone. They even offer three kinds of rice! I see some complaints about the food being bland, but that wasn't my experience...quite the opposite. Lots of intriguing spices! Check it out yourself. Oak Harbor needs places like this!

As per the descriptions I read of this, the spices are subtle and mild unless you ask for extra heat. Which suites my taste. The vegetarian curry had a variety of vegetables and spices + choice of 3 vegetable dishes. My carrot, broccoli and beet choices were each special subtle and full flavors. Came with a mango yogurt and chutney and a crunchy garnish too. I upgraded my rice to Chamba which has a more interesting flavor and texture and I also ordered Raita extra because I love this tangy veggie-herb yogurt side. It all hit the spot and I would go back again next time I'm in the area. The container has to be handled carefully since two of the dishes were quite soupy but you could also order a sturdier cup in a larger serving. The owner was super friendly and also offered me little tastes of a couple other dishes while I decided. (It was a non busy early afternoon time) These include a couple meat options also available and were very good also. Easy parking, on north end of the town.
