Basil Fried Rice (rice not in picture)
    Thomas H.

This place has been opened as long I've been in the Energy Corridor. Which once again....if it hasn't closed....then that means it's pretty good. I ordered on two occasions. First occasion was the "Drunken Noodles". They give a generous portion. I got the medium for "spice level". I thought it was pretty mild at first until I finished eating. It was a slow burn, but not bad. Second occasion was the Basil Fried Rice. Pretty generous portion. I'd definitely order from here again.

I stopped by here on a trip to Houston and had a great experience! The staff here was very kind and helpful and I loved how they had outdoor seating as well for when it's nice outside Tom Yum - soup was hot and full of flavor! Chicken Wings - Very crispy and came with a tangy fish sauce Fried Rice - I like how you can control the spice level. This was some of the best Thai style fried rice I've had.

    Not real pad thai

I just placed pad thai, but it was not pad thai that i had eaten in thailand before or in normal thai restaurant. However, the taste of this food was not bad. This food should be named as Stir-fried Pho. There was no peanut. I would be sorry if I said something rude. I wasted my money for not real pad thai

This restaurant has been on my radar for some time. There's several Thai establishments nearby, but as the only Thai restaurant in the area that possesses a full bar, it became my selection for the evening. A karaoke stage and outdoor patio for dining are both great features this place offers. The menu states they use authentic Thai recipes, not Americanized rendition. That's my preference, so it was good assurance. The menu carries a huge selection of dishes, with many less commonly found ones in the states available here. The Thai sausage was quite tasty and went well with the accompanying slivers of ginger and peanuts. They offer two varieties. The red curry had a strong cardamom taste to it, which I enjoyed. The pad see ew had a good flavor, but the noodles were over cooked. I wish the meat in both dishes were a bit less dry and tough, but the flavors of the dishes were nice. Overall very tasty!

I need to go to Naam NOW They make the best food but I don't know HOW Every time I eat the food I go WOW I'd marry this curry, I will take that VOW When they're out of curry I furrow my BROW Which makes me look as though I have a UNIBROW Like the Black Eyed Peas they have that BOOM BOOM POW I feel like Michael Jackson cause they make me scream "OWWW!" I love them as much as my wallet will ALLOW The other Thai restaurants I now DISAVOW If you disagree, we'll get into a ROW The portion sizes are more Snooki than J-WOWW But the taste rules the land like Chairman MAO Green Curry so good you could put it on a BAO Towers over Houston just like YAO So come on Mike and fam and friends, time to take a BOW Cause there's no better Thai Food than NAAM KHAO WHAT! This is not just one of the greatest restaurants in the Houston Metro Area, or in Texas. This is one of the best in North America. And I'm not exaggerating, even remotely. The cooking and menu options and service could not be any better. And the ownership is second to none. Naam Khao's owners - Mike and his wife - are genuine warm-hearted down to earth good people, who I am very privileged and honoured to call my friends after coming to eat here so many times, cuz it's so good. In fact, I'd say they're among my favourite owners of any place anywhere I've been, that's how much I like them - and I love their food just that much, too. So with that said, let's rap some more. Uh, uh. Uh, uh. You gotta go to Naam Khao I don't give a Daam Khao If you call this Spam Khao Get here while you Can Khao My gf she's so Glam Khao Got a dark fake Tan Khao Makes money on the Cam Khao Nada goes to Uncle Sam Khao It all goes to Naam Khao George Michael had the Wham Khao Flintstone had the Bam Bam Khao Frisco has the Tram Khao The Rock has Summer Slam Khao Josh Duggar keeps it in the Fam Khao Mexicans have the Flan Khao Students have to Cram Khao But before the Exam Khao You gotta eat at Naam Khao WHAT?! What to get: Spicy Basil Fried Rice w/Shrimp, Green Curry w/Chicken or Veggies or Shrimp What else: Avoid Josh Dugar's Hand Hand Another wonderful thing about NK is that they're open later than any other good restaurant in or near HTX. So if you want something delicious after 10pm, you're S.O.L. even in the 4th biggest town in the USA, out of luck that is, unless you know about this secret bowl of heaven nestled in a quiet plaza on the west side of Eldridge Parkway, about a mile and a half south of Interstate 10 and the ConocoPhilips Spirit One world HQ which towers over the Energy Corridor area, as they call it, with the kind of authority only rivaled by the authoritative taste of the exquisite curries and rices and other dishes on offer here. Additionally, they have a wonderful alcohol selection, "curated" as a hipster would say, by people who really know what they're doing. Mike's a Michigan man, and brings that good nature and salt of the earth attitude to a city that often lacks it, with enormous portions, affordable prices that very rarely inflate even when all his products are costing him more and more still each month, and a slew of faithful regulars that are so often here, usually hanging out deep into the morning hours as late as 2am. Food is served until 11.30pm, and we often take advantage of that. You can hang out here, get drinks and snacks, for hours after that. They have singing and karaoke and concerts and parties pretty much every Thurs, Fri and Sat, and often on other random nights too. Massive bonus points because we are fans of intense spice, and most places can't make things as spicy as we like them, no matter how much we ask for it. Naam Khao blows our heads off and matches our spice expectations like nobody else, with their level 5. I don't recommend most people try it, but damn, we're in love with that level of explosiveness. There's a reason why the people that love this place, love it as much as they do. Sure, it's all about the spirit, the feeling, the people, the hours too. But most of all, for us, it's simply one of the most memorable meals we've ever had. I like girls but prefer Man Khao Danielle? I prefer Dan Khao Stella? Grilled Thai Sausage

This is the place to go to for Thai food in Energy Corridor. Love that this place closes late! Very authentic... they don't skimp on the Thai chili peppers here. I loved the grilled sausage. Smoky, spicy and delicious. Pairs well with the peanuts, ginger, and Thai chilis... all of my favorite toppings. We ordered sticky rice to eat with the sausage and it was a great combo. I always judge a Thai restaurant by how good their som tum is and theirs didn't disappoint! There was a good amount of shredded papaya, and the sauce was spicy and tangy! Loved the tomatoes and cabbage as well. Pad see ew was solid. I tried golden pampano for the first time and it was so good. Crispy but not too greasy. Plenty of fish meat so we weren't just getting bones. The seafood sauce was new to me but I loved it with the fish! Servers here are great. Cute decor inside and out. So happy to have a great Thai restaurant close to my area.

    Emmy S.

Let me clarify by saying that the food at this place was AMAZING! Really good and flavorful too. The service we experienced though, was a different story. While the servers were nice... they were hardly attentive and it took them so long to take our order/give us our check. Not to mention they got my friend's order wrong, but we let it slide because mistakes happen. The server also brought out a plate of edamame that we didn't order , yet she still charged us. While the food was really good, i don't see myself returning to this establishment. I'm glad i got to give it a try though.

I am not sure if it was the owner we met today but he was really nice. He was running the show all by himself and doing quite a good job at it! Food: they brought a soup as our first appetizer and it was quite good. I don't even like veggies but it was spiced to all hell and was very good with all the flavor and spice. Definitely was different. Never had a soup like This and I have been to countless Thai spots all in the USA, Houston and outside of the USA for that matter. Very good soup. Next was the meal. Panang beef! Very good and full of flavor. I really enjoyed this Dish! They do a great job with their curry here. Very flavorful and tasty. I really enjoyed it! The also brought out some crispy spring rolls. Very good. Last we got a dessert and crab Rangoon's. They were both excellent. First time coming here and it will not be the last. Very good food. Very good price. Very friendly people. Give them a shot. I'll be back.

I came here for the Sai Krok Esan. I was not disappointed. Maybe the best I have had in some time. Light char-grilled and delicious. I also had the Yum Woon Sen with pork. Very good, but not spicy. I ordered 4 (Thai Spicy). It was not spicy but it was still delicious. Next time I will order level 5.

The atmosphere feels lively, casual, and packed with personality--exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble upon but rarely do. The menu is enormous, featuring dishes from different regions of Thailand, with everything from soups and stir-fried noodles to rice dishes, curries, seafood, and grilled meats. Looking around the dining room, it seemed like nobody ordered the same thing because there is just so much to try. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable for a place with this much hype. I had some of the best noodles of my life here. The Pad Kee Mao was phenomenal (best I've ever had and I eat thai food OFTEN) the noodles were chewy, bouncy, fresh, and perfectly coated in sauce. Everything tasted made-to-order and arrived piping hot. We also ordered the Beef Noodle Soup, which was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor, along with the Green Papaya Salad, which was easily one of the best versions I've ever had. The heat, acidity, and freshness was incredible and so well balanced. Many of the dishes are served on banana leaves, which adds to the entire experience and makes everything feel even more authentic and special. As someone who loves spice, I also appreciated the range of spice levels available. They don't hold back, which I always consider a good sign. One of the coolest surprises is that there's an attached market selling imported products from Thailand and Vietnam--lots of fun snacks, drinks, sauces, and ingredients you won't find at a typical grocery store. A few things to know: parking can be a little challenging, and while it's a sit-down restaurant, you'll need to head to the cashier to pay. They also accept cards, so don't worry about bringing cash. If I lived nearby, I would honestly come here every week just to work my way through the menu. This is the kind of restaurant that's worth planning a trip around. I would come back to Houston just for this meal. When people say Houston has some of the best Asian food in the country, this is exactly the type of place they're talking about!!

We visited for lunch on a Tuesday and had no wait to be seated. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. My husband ordered his dish at a spice level 4 (their highest spice level), but felt it wasn't quite as spicy as expected, so keep that in mind if you like a lot of heat. The portions were very generous, and we definitely had leftovers. The kids' chicken fried rice was a huge portion and was surprisingly good. We also enjoyed the mango sticky rice for dessert--it was a great way to end the meal. The only disappointment was the Thai tea, which tasted a little weak compared to what we've had at other Thai restaurants. As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. With dedicated parking that fills up quick during peak times, it may be difficult to locate parking as it is shared with a few other restaurants and the spaces are quite tight. We tried their appetizers including Salmon Rolls (flavorfully packed with cream cheese, salmon, and spinach in a crispy shell and loving that actually spicy mayo on the side), Thai Style Jerky (deep fried and sun dried marinated pork and beef served with sticky rice rolls and side spicy tamarind sauce, a bit too dry/chewy), Fried Tofu (perfect little triangles, so good by itself or with the side sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts), Chive Pancake (deep fried and chive packed triangles with a slight chew to it, great by itself or with it's spicy soy sauce companion). As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. The portion size is alright and filling for a moderately hungry individual, though it would've been even better a tad bigger for those coming in hangry. I'll be back for more when I'm craving some modern Thai food and especially want to try their curry dishes. Service was quick and efficient, attentive to refills on drinks and friendly!
