There is many themed rooms available and all of them with different difficulty levels We did one of the harder rooms available and I will say it was a challenge If you're looking for a challenge definitely recommend asking why their hardest room is Reasonably priced Pretty standard for escape rooms and if you go with a group its a lot better but they offer rooms meant for as little as 2 people All in all Fun time ! Decent place for the price & how the rooms look. A few of the other places will let you stay an extra couple minutes if you are super close to the end, but this place unfortunately does not. There were multiple times where we had put things in the correct order, but it did not open (either to the person not paying attention or to user error). The guy in the front, Felix, was extremely rude when I told him the game had not been set up properly. He pointed his finger in my face and told me that what I was saying wasn't true. Our guide actually had to interrupt him and explain that there were parts of the escape room that had not been arranged properly prior to my family and I starting the game. There were written clues from a previous team left lying around when we began. Clues were out of sorts, the walkie-talkies didn't work properly. The whole thing was a mess, to be honest. It's too expensive to not get what you pay for. And to top it off the customer service was horrible. I would never waste my time or money here again! I keep thinking I've found the worst escape room then I discovered this place. I did one and it was an absolute waste of time and money. It was misleading and false advertising. This place was our least favorite of the many escape rooms we've done, but it still wasn't terrible. The biggest problem is just how flimsy everything looks inside the rooms. There are things that are broken that end up acting as accidental red herrings. The room we did was also very focused on a "darkness" type vibe while also having way too many written notes. Except for the two people with flash lights, everyone else is pretty much left sitting around in the dark. Frist time trying this company, but we have done 10+ escape rooms. The Mystery Escape Room is located in the Tucson Mall nears Sears and JC Penney. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they were having fun in what seemed to be a staff meeting as we came in the door. You start out by scanning a QR code and filling in information on a web page, which they will guide you through. Then they take you over to a room with a TV to watch an intro video about your escape room and some of the rules. We tried the sherlock holmes room, and it was a little harder than some of the others that we have done. We did not ask for help nearly enough and we should have. I liked that there were many magnetic components to this room and you had to use some items and place them strategically to get the magnetic lock to activate to unlock things. You can use your phone for a flashlight and you will need it. There were some unique puzzles in the room that I had not seen before and I enjoyed it. We would go back. read more

I used to love this place in the early days of escape rooms. However, their new rooms are plagued with poor design, shoddy construction (including exposed wires and random holes in the decor), and more red herrings than a specialized hatchery. Honestly, spend your money almost anywhere else. I've done almost 200 rooms, and this is easily one of the worst companies. They COULD be good, but management needs to take a long, hard look at what they're doing and what customers are experiencing. read more

This was our first time at an escape room in Tucson. Reservations are required and some of the rooms book up early. We booked a 9pm in the Dracula room. The staff was very nice and helpful. After signing a waiver and watching a short video we were lead to our escape room. We had 60 minutes to escape. We did really well but did not make it out in the allotted time. If you check in on Yelp you get an extra clue. It was fun and a great game to work together. read more

We were looking for a fun activity for our family visiting town and realized that there was an escape room right in the Tucson Mall! It was incredibly easy to book our room online and there were plenty of time slots to choose from. We booked the Sherlock Holmes room and had such a great time! It was my parent's first time doing an escape room and boy it was entertaining just watching work through how escape rooms work. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Misty who took care of introductions and helped us out when we needed clues. Even tho the escape room center only had Misty manning it, she took care to keep up in the loop and updated when she had to step away to help out any other guests. I did also like how she would keep the clues somewhat high-level to point us in the right direction rather than flat out giving us the answer. She also helped us in the room since some of the locks could be a bit finicky. The room itself was set up so nicely and the clues were pretty clear to which they were associated with. The clues/ techniques were all different and were all fun to work through. I would 100% go back and try out some other rooms! The Sherlock Holmes one was a 6/10 difficulty and we finished with 5 minutes left with 6 people, of which 4 members who are fairly new to escape rooms. read more

For example, it would be nice if they asked who had done an escape room before and given the more difficult rooms to those folks instead of the newbies. Also, there were some malfunctions in our room. We were told about them but how difficult would it be to fix?? I have done many escape rooms in the past, and I feel I am a reasonably savvy participant. So was excited when I scheduled the Afraid of the Dark room at Mystery Escape Room at Tucson Mall. Within five minutes in the room, I knew I had made a mistake. While we were told the room would be on the dark side, we weren't prepared for the TOTAL darkness in the room! We were given a small, inadequate lantern, but quickly opted to use the flashlights on our phones. As we bumped around in the darkness, we quickly realized the room would be a fail since we weren't prepared to do it one handed; one hand held the phone while the other hand fumbled, unsuccessfully, with locks. It was next to impossible! You need two hands to manipulate the locks. At one point, we asked for a hint and told the worker the combo we were using. He said it was correct, but sometimes the lock can be a problem. After coming into the room to help us himself, he even struggled with opening the lock! At that point, my group totally shut down out of frustration. Considering the price we paid for three participants, I expected a better experience. I don't think I will be returning. read more

I brought 3 family members here, 2 of them for the 1st time. The experience was overall difficult, confusing and anti-climatic. I feel we should have been educated better on the difficulty level of the rooms, as we were in an "intermediate" room, and none of us were up to the task. I felt it was a set up for failure. The only other escape room I'd been to before, they set you up for success, and watched very attentively to be sure the clues you were solving was in line with the timing, and we ultimately 'got out' in that one, and jumped for joy, and our photo reflected it. But on this one we were only maybe 60% succeeding and time was up. I also didn't feel our guide was all that concerned. He seemed stoic and disconnected from our experience. No I would not like 10% off the next one, but thanks lol. read more

This Escape Room just opened up at the Tucson Mall. Already a massive plus because it is in a big location that you do not have to go out of your way to get to it. It is also very clean, especially since it is an escape room where you are crawling all over the floor to find clues. You do have to book and appointment, but that is fairly easy to do on their website or in person. So perfect when you are planning to hang out at the mall. There are currently two rooms here. We did "A Christmas Carol" for Christmas of course and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There were numerous puzzles and brain teasers; clues that were scattered through out the room, an assistant named "Violet Beauregarde" who was extremely helpful. She saw moments when we were getting stuck and tried to give us hints to help us. She also added her snarky personality to ours which we found hilarious. We did not complete it, but we did get pretty far and had a lot of fun. If puzzles are your thing, this is totally the place to go! read more

We just did the Dracula room recently. It was so well crafted, the props and the mechanisms, the puzzles. It was such a rush solving it!! Which we barely solved, the host gave a couple of extra seconds because we were right down to the buzzer but we did it!!! We already have plans to bring more people and do the other two rooms!!!!!!! I went with 5 other people. All have done escape rooms before. We did 20,000 leagues room. We chose competitive play but our guide continuously chimed in to tell us answers/to tell us we were doing a puzzle wrong. I personally think the team should be allowed to discover their mistakes on their own. Whats the point of telling us we have "3 hints" if you give us them continuously without us asking? It got very stale very fast just being in the one square room. I definitely prefer escape rooms that have a second room because it brings back some freshness and new clues to look at. The door to the room couldn't actually close after you opened it so that broke the immersion. Which is another reason why the guide should not speak so frequently, it breaks immersion. They had some questionable locks. One lock had a BOOK with 10 steps in it on how to use the lock correctly. Craziest part is, the room is so confusing and the puzzles are so overly difficult for no reason that you probably NEED the guide to randomly tell you info because I am not sure how you'd get out otherwise. The ending was extremely anti-climatic but I think the last puzzle just didn't work properly so that could be why. Music was elevator music, could be a bit cooler. And also, y'all should add a clock. Guide was very nice though, she just talked too much. If you are thinking you aren't the best at escape rooms, I would be weary. We got out with less than 5 minutes. AND where is our photo? We went to this amazing escape room for my birthday. Period costumes for the hostess and an intriguing plot line made the experience come alive! Challenging for the 6 of us ages millennials to tween and then us old folks. We solved the riddles (with a little help) and it was thrilling! Can't wait to try the other rooms! read more

This was my first escape room. We went with my family. We did the Christmas Carol room. Violet our host was great and was very patient with us. She guided us when we were getting off track so that we didn't get too frustrated. The voices of the ghosts were super quiet and somewhat hard to hear, so pay attention when you first enter the room. My husband and I have done about 30-40 escape rooms across the country and decided to bring his brother to try one while visiting him in Tucson. Luckily the first one we stopped at was closed. We visited the Mystery escape room in the Tucson Mall and were assisted by Violet. She gave the three of us a military discount and allowed us to begin a little late (the nearest restroom is in Sears, and I wasn't about to go into the room before using it). We did 20K Leagues Under the Sea and it was well themed and had about a dozen different puzzles. The variety of puzzles were good...cyphers, tactile puzzles, maps, riddles, etc. We did not escape and apparently "perished at sea". Violet was watching us on camera and chimed in when she noticed I had translated the code wrong and questioned me on it so I'd go back and check my answer in order to be successful on the next puzzle. She was very personable and supportive throughout. We would definitely go back to this location and try another room! read more

This was probably one of the most disappointing escape room experiences I've EVER had. I'm from California, and decided to take 4 other people for the FIRST time to an escape room thinking it was going to be super fun. As soon as we got into the room we proceeded to do as one does and look for clues or whatnot. After finding a certain clue, one of the employees watching comes in telling us that someone didn't put that clue back in its right spot. One fluke wasn't really a problem, but there were still a few locks and puzzles we needed to figure out before "winning" BUT we didn't need to figure those out because ANOTHER item was placed in the wrong spot so we figured it out before we needed to. In addition, there was broken glass in the room, but I digress. I just felt for the $130 I spent it was a waste of money. To not have throughly made sure everything was In the right spot to make it as enjoyable for the guest as possible was frustrating. It was a very bad experience for the people I brought along for it was their first escape room. They did offer a 10% discount for the next room, but that does absolutely nothing because 3 of us don't even live in Arizona, and the other 2 that do said they will NOT be back. We just did the Dracula room -- brand new to the experience of escape rooms. How could it have been better? Well, first this room is dark, dark, dark! That means you need LIGHT to read clues. They provided very dim flashlights -- so, test them before you start -- we ended up using our cell phone flashlights and were never offered any replacements. The sounds of ____ (for you to discover!) were overridden by the music piped in. When the music was eliminated, we still could not hear the sounds. Attention to detail would make this experience so much better. I think that the next experience would be better -- IF I was willing to do it! read more

So I would give the escape room (the Dracula one) itself a great rating. However, we were very disappointed when our game master stopped us literally at the 60 minute mark. All we needed was to turn a key and we were out. She literally stopped us and came in the room and said all we needed was 10 more SECONDS and we would have escaped. We are just confused on why they wouldn't just let us escape when we only needed literally 10 more seconds. Instead of leaving feeling excited we left very disappointed. Escape rooms are about having fun and businesses should want their customers to leave feeling good. We have done a ton of escape rooms and whenever we were close they all would allow us to finish. Even if that meant giving us another minute or two. We planned on going back but we left so disappointed we are unsure if we will go back. I guess moral of the story is make sure you escape within the 60 minutes and not a second after. read more
