It's advertised as their hardest room, and while we technically ran out of time, we were so close they let us keep going and we escaped with 5 minutes to spare! The puzzles were challenging and fun, and the staff was incredibly kind. When my son got a little spooked, our game host turned off the background sounds to help ease his anxiety without hesitation. Our family got a gift certificate to Fox In a Box and the four of us recently did the Wild West room. Erin did a great job explaining the rules and having a fun and friendly attitude. The room was fun with lots of different puzzles. We used most of our clues and we were able to "escape" with plenty of time. We chose the Wild West because it was a medium difficult room. We're not big into horror so next time we might try to bank heist room. We all had a great time. FIAB is a fun little secret tucked upstairs above Snakes and Lattes. We booked our game in advance and when we were arrived, everything was set up and ready to go. We definitely had fun. Unfortunately, we did not Find all of the clues in time and failed. It took me over 10 attempts to reach someone at the number listed. The lady who answered said I must contact the owner I spoke with so he could provide someone at the front desk at their university location the information on our gift certificate balance. I have emailed the address provided on their website and I have submitted multiple queries through the contact us page. Along with sending electronic messages I have called 29 times now, different times of day spanning over a month and I have never heard back from anyone. Now sadly our gift certificate has expired. I was curious if the business is still open. This is really disappointing as we were looking forward to returning and doing the Zombie Room again. We have done all of them and enjoyed repeat visits but if I cannot reach anyone obviously, I am having second thoughts. read more

My family and I did the zombie lab! Though we did not escape the experience was FANTASTIC! It was all of our first time trying out an escape room but I will definitely be going back, it was so fun ! I am back in Tucson and decided to do another 1 of their escape rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. They make sure to explain everything before you start. We did the Zombie room last time, but this time we decided to try the wild wild west room where you try to save the town from destruction. This room was very fun, plenty of hard puzzles to figure out, but with some helpful hints, it was nice to escape with a few minutes to go. The room was kind of dark, wish there had been better lighting to help with reading some of the clues. There were a few puzzles that did not make sense intuitively, but that did not hinder the game. Definitely looking forward to trying the 3rd room next time we are here. read more

The place was booked up for reservations on the weekend we chose, but they were so gracious and were willing to accommodate us - and called someone into work to allow us to come and escape. While in Tuscon on vacation my husband and I thought we would try an Escape Room. Connor at Fox in a Box was fantastic and set up the Wild West for us. Given it was our first time we truly had no idea what to expect. It was fantastic and a lot of fun, plus we actually finished with a minute 44 seconds to go. We will definitely do another escape room as now we have an idea what they are about and how to think it through. Connor was super helpful and made it a lot of fun. Thank you very much. Great escape rooms. We did the Bank with my family (30-70 yr old) and had an awesome time. We came back two days later to do the Wild West. Great puzzle arrangement, never too many locks that could all take the same code. What I love about these puzzles is they are immensely challenging until everything clicks together, and then it can become obvious. This place is also liberal with clues and help, don't hesitate to use the clue button because it's much more fun to get out with help than to fail entirely! No penalty for using clues. This is a great place for first time room escapees and for veterans. Help here was great. They compensated when things failed (it happens) and we're always paying attention to the things happening. They also memorized the scripts and explained rules clearly. Five stars, great job Fox in the Box! read more

I brought my family here because of the good reviews and was not disappointed. At $35/person, it's a bit pricier, but worth it! I was impressed by the level of complexity and creativity of the challenge (in comparison to the other escape rooms I've been to in the past.) We did the bank robbery challenge. Before entering the room, we were briefed with the rules and were played a video to set the scene! Without giving too much away, I was impressed with the intricacy of the challenge, which featured multiple rooms and out-of-the-box puzzles. We had the opportunity to ask for a hint every 10 minutes (definitely recommend taking advantage of this). Although we didn't end up solving the challenge in time, we got pretty close! I'd say the bank robbery challenge is on the more challenging side, with only 1/3 of teams making it through. I'd definitely come back! Note: they seem to have a pretty strict policy around being late. read more

This is the third year in a row our family has come to Fox in a Box for our annual escape adventure. It's become our Christmas holiday tradition- a present to the whole family from one of our adult daughters. 2 years ago we started with the Zombie Lab and had a blast. With all 5 of us working together, talking our way through the details we noticed in the room and thinking out loud, we were able to puzzle our way through. We used several of the offered hints and solved the zombie crisis with some time to spare. It was a blast. One year ago we tackled the Bank Robbery room- this time bringing along an extra person. This room was somewhat harder to solve than the Zombie Lab we had done before, but with a group of 6 of us, once again we found that by talking out loud and working together we made a great team and were able to finish the challenge. We were excited to hear Fox in a Box opened a third room in time for our annual visit last month, and once again had a lot of fun solving the Wild West room. We are looking forward to additional rooms being opened for our next visit. It's a great family outing! read more

After completing a fantastic Fox in a Box escape room in Chicago, my family and I were extremely disappointed in this location. We recently completed the Wild West room and experienced several faulty puzzles and complete disregard by the staff and management. Throughout our time we had several objects break, some of which made it difficult to nearly impossible to complete the necessary tasks. In addition our game master was inattentive and wouldn't speak up after we asked several times if these broken objects would hinder us in the future. We found that there were several puzzles that were frustrating to complete, not because of the strategy behind them, but rather because they were poorly constructed. Even when these puzzles were solved it took the game master several minutes to address the situation so that we could move on the the next puzzle. There were further safety concerns in the room. Right in the middle of the room was a piece of wood which several team members tripped over. Perhaps the biggest safety issue was when one puzzle required safety glasses that had fallen to the floor and went unnoticed. It wasn't until it was after we had completed the puzzle and it was far too late that the game master notified us that we were to wear glasses. I still question the safety of this puzzle as shrapnel managed to hit a team member who wouldn't have been wearing the glasses anyway as there seemed to only be one pair included with the puzzle. Once our time ran out, the game master and manager came in to address some of our concerns. We quickly explained this was the worst escape room we had been to (one team member had done over 20 rooms). While they asked us what could be improved, they failed to return any of our money or take any steps to rectify the situation. I would avoid this room at all costs because my family and I paid almost $200 for a faulty experience. read more

My girlfriend and I visited Fox In a Box for our date night this week. We hadn't done an 'escape room' prior to this so we were both in uncharted waters. The co-owners gave us a ~7 minute intro on the history of escape rooms and how this one will work. I won't go into detail regarding the room itself as to not spoil the experience but here is what I will say about the Zombie Cure: - You don't need a background in science to do this. I have a significant amount of experience in scientific research and healthcare and I wouldn't say I had an advantage over anyone else - You do learn about your communication skills with your friends! - You get to think both outside and inside the box Overall, we would come back and plan to do so for the Bank Heist situation. This was such a different experience. I've never done an escape room before but I can't wait to go back and try their other rooms. This place is located on the second level in main gate square. They validated parking for the Tyndall garage. The owners and game masters were incredibly nice and welcoming. Our group of 6 tried the bank room. They gave us our back story to help us get in to character and it was helpful to be in the mindset of a bank robber. I loved that there was a ticking clock to remind me to move quickly. The clues required mathematical thinking, abstract thinking, divergent thinking, seeking skills and teamwork. It really helped that we had a well rounded group of people, different ages and occupations. Some had done escape rooms before and some had not. Every one of us had fun! I can't say more or it could spoil YOUR fun but you should absolutely give this place a try. The people in our group who tried other escape rooms told me that since I started with this one, the other escape rooms in town pale in comparison and I'll be disappointed if I try those. Holy Zombie Apocalypse, that was AMAZING Fun!!! Our sons girlfriend wanted to try it, so the four of us (those two and hubby and myself) went together. They "lock" you in a room and you have to solve puzzles and put together clues to get out, all in 60 minutes. Our mission was to find the cure for the Zombie virus in 60 minutes or the world Would peril. WE DID IT!!! We saved the world!!!! Holy crap that was fun. Adrenaline, brainy, laughs, rushing around, cheering...a totally great way to spend an evening. Definitely going to do it again-next time well rob the bank! ;) So highly recommended, guys. Fox in a Box is a corporation, so the rooms are designed and decorated well to their respective themes. I've experienced Central Bank and Zombie Lab. Both were fantastic. Some puzzles went over our heads, so it was good that they offered us many hints. We used MANY. It's nice that the owner, Neil, watched over our group very attentively so he could tell if we were stuck and needed a hint. I also like how hints are mostly given in picture form (slid under the door) instead of someone over a walkie-talkie going "uhhh, so you have to use A at B, then uhh..." This place is super immersive in whatever theme they give you. I especially like how they increased the siren noises or zombie noises when we had very little time left. This was super fun, had a great time with my peers. We went during the week on a Thursday. It was not busy at all. Our team decided on the zombie challenge. Heads up on this though, if you are 10 minutes late you will be charged $25. No cancellations and no refunds. We got there a little late but was able to start the game. The zombie challenge is perfect for those who want to add a sequential challenge game one step at a time where the team works together to solve the next puzzle. The bank challenge is able to provide a series/multiple games at one time but is extremely harder to achieve. Did not get a chance to write a review right after but went there a couple weeks ago and had a blast! My husband and I have about 24 escape games under our belt and this is definitely top 3! A lot of the puzzles were very different from other escape games that we have done in the past and we loved it! We were just passing through the city so we only got to do one game, the zombie lab, but we would have loved a shot to do the others if we had the time! Fox in a box is one of the best I've ever done. I was so excited that I found this place. Not only is the staff friendly and fans themselves but the rooms are challenging but solvable. Just when you think you've solved it..surprise there is more to solve. Well played Fox in a box. This place can accommodate small parties or larger groups. The unique feature (and probably the best features) about this place that I enjoyed was their willingness to let a two person team attempt the room without having you pay for all the unused spaces. After a previous trip to another (now defunct) Tucson escape room facility, I wasn't sure that I was up for a repeat of the escape room experience. However, my wonderful friends booked us in the Zombie Lab room here to celebrate my birthday, and I'm so glad they did! I had a blast, and our experience at Fox In a Box was head and shoulders above our experience at the other place. Here are just a few things that distinguished Fox in a Box: 1. The use of technology. I don't find it especially fun to sort through endless scraps of paper with puzzles on them. In fact, I find it pretty overwhelming. Without going into too much detail, the Zombie Lab puzzles were much more diverse and frankly just super cool in terms of their sophistication. It really suited the different skill areas of members of our team. The use of tech also added to the lab atmosphere and the immersive experience. 2. The absence of pointless or careless red herrings. Escape rooms should feature some misdirects just to add to the fun, but the puzzles at the core of the room should be challenging enough to stand on their own without the need for endless, difficult-for-the-sake-of-being-difficult twists. The Zombie lab puzzles definitely fit the bill. There was no speculating as to the order of numbers in solutions or need for brute force guessing on anything. Additionally, the room was really carefully designed so that there were no inadvertent misdirects. A previous room I'd been to had bought its furniture and books used, and they had a lot of markings in and on them that were simply left from the previous owners and irrelevant to the puzzle. It wasted time as we tried to figure out whether they mattered or not. Everything in the Zombie Lab is intentionally placed, and the owners have taken care to avoid misdirection (i.e. labeling things "Don't Touch" if they're part of the functionality of the room and not part of the puzzle and blacking out labels that might mislead). 3. The room was designed to have a clear, logical flow from puzzle to puzzle. I liked this a lot, because the previous room I'd been to had no real order. It just depended on when you found particular clues. That created a kind of chaotic atmosphere--we were managing too many puzzles at once, sometimes discovering clues that were meant for puzzles we'd already solved, and also just generally feeling like we were never certain of how far we'd progressed. The Zombie lab has a clear narrative, and it really adds to the suspense and the fun of the room. You feel like you're moving through the "plot" of the room rather than just getting bogged down. All in all, this was a great experience. We escaped with plenty of time left. I highly recommend this place, especially if you've been disenchanted with some of your previous Tucson escape room experiences. It will restore your enthusiasm. I'll definitely be back to do the Bank heist one. read more
