We have been to Tanque Verde twice, and absolutely loved it both times. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and most of them have been there a very long time. There are a wide assortment of rooms. Last time we had a nice Casita. This time we were in a smaller room, but it still had a wood-burning fireplace, which was so cozy on chilling evenings, The property is beautiful, the trail rides are wonderful and the desert landscape is stunning. It is such a treat to be around and ride the horses. We also went on great walks, hikes. They also have tons of activities I'd like to try next time, like pickleball, tennis, archery, fishing, etc. The pool area and Jacuzzi is so relaxing and beautiful. My husband loved the saloon, and it was a fun watering hole for happy hour. I was doing Dry January, and the bartender made me a tasty mocktail, and we met some nice people. The food was very good. We were there for Friday prime rib night, which was awesome, and loved the salad and soup bar. Looking forward to our next trip and hope to bring more family or friends next time! read more

This review is for Tanque Verde Guest Ranch, where I stayed for a local art retreat. Upon Arrival: The two front desk clerks were busy when I arrived, so Valorie who works up front offered to assist me. My room request was accommodated which I appreciated. Valorie gave me several documents to be aware of, including the list of events at the Ranch, costs and requirements. While I was going to be involved in the art retreat all day during my stay, to know these options existed was great and perhaps if I return I would take advantage of them. Be sure to get a map of the property so you can find your room and know where to park if you have a car! While buildings are marked, there are twists and turns on the roads into the property and within the property, so it is helpful to have a map you can use throughout your stay. Guest Room: Was clean upon arrival. There was an extra blanket in the closet which I appreciated since it got down to the 40's at night during my stay. The water in the shower came out nice and hot! There is a coffee pot with regular and decaf coffee stocked each day, iron and ironing board, a small mini fridge for beverages, a safe in the clothes closet, but no microwave. Therefore, for those of you who have gotten used to a microwave in the room, be aware the Ranch does not supply one, but there was coffee, hot water and tea in the restaurant building which you can access along with granola bars and fresh fruit. There was a fireplace in my room, but there was not any wood in the fireplace nor outside the room door. Because the fireplace was around the corner from the bedroom, I did not call the front desk to inquire about having a fire started or wood delivered because I prefer to have eyeballs on fire at all times and a fire would not have been in my sight had I gone to bed while it was still smoldering. Food: Considering the kitchen staff was serving a large number of people at the art retreat at the same time, they did a good job of getting the food out on time, items kept up with being supplied, and having the guests beverages brought to tables timely. Issue: There was a barbecue on Wednesday night which was a great idea with music and large pit fires going to keep us warm because it was chilly outside. But the outdoor temperature made it hard to keep the food warm and by the time we went through the food line and sat down at one of the picnic tables, the food was cold so we passed on this meal after realizing the food temperature issue (chicken, beef, ribs, mac and cheese, and beans). Grounds: There was a fairly decent rain storm a day prior to the Retreat arrival, which resulted in the horse barns, stable areas, and the cattle areas were soaked and muddy. This meant the manure was also being trampled into the mud. Therefore, the smell of manure permeated the Ranch until everything had a chance to dry out by the end of the week. The Ranch hands used machinery to pile up the waste to try to get it out from underneath the animals, but the smell was what it was due to the circumstances. I only bring it up to say, if you don't mind this odor or if you are going to be at the Ranch when rain is not in the forecast, this won't be an issue. But, it is a "Ranch" so some things mixed with mother nature, cannot be avoided! Overall, I found the grounds to be quiet. I heard the guests next to me coming and going when they slammed their room door, but otherwise, it was quiet, which I very much appreciated, since I went there for a personal art Retreat. Staff: The staff at the Ranch were all very pleasant and tried to make people happy. There are golf carts to get people where they are going, or for those who do not want to walk on the uneven surface or prefer not to walk for any reason. Staff tried to make the stay enjoyable. Memorable Issue: There was a power outage during our stay at 8:00 PM. Our group was in The Barn when this happened. Staff said this has never happened before. We were instructed to head to reception so we could be directed accordingly (guest rooms needing a fire for heat as an example). By the time we got to reception flash lights and lanterns for light were all distributed because there was a large group on-site. Therefore, one of the staff walked me back to my room with their cell phone light. When we got to my room I told him my phone flash light only had about 26% life remaining on it. A staff member came with a flash light about an hour later. I believe the Ranch would benefit from a disaster kit which is kept on-site with at least one flashlight per room (among other items) that can be distributed to guests. The electric came back on about 1:00 am, but it was a cold dark night with no heat with the outside temperature in the 40's that night in the dark. This brought my overall rating down to four stars as a result. Overall: This would be a great family vacation or to stay at if you love dude ranches and horses! read more

Nice place with fun activities and a few quirks. My favorite was the Saturday cookout. It wasnt best steak ever but was good and really enjoyed the live music and outside venue. Went here for a family reunion and everyone had a blast. We had a big group with kids and teens up to grandparents. I loved the rooms and furnishing. Bed and chairs all super comfy and sturdy. The activities were all fun and the folks running the activities really seemed happy and helpful. One caveat is some guests seemed to have unrealistic expectations of the activities and their abilities. For instance a lot of people didn't qualify for the lope ride and probably shouldnt have qualified for safety reasons but still seemed upset about it. My kids were too old for the kids club but the kids who were in that program looked to be having an awesome time! It is great to have that option on a place like this. Couple things they could improve on: The online activity signup clunky to the point of barely functional. Everyone, even small kids had to create separate accounts -- i even called to confirm this and was told to reuse emails and phone numbers. A 9 year old doesn't need their own account. One member of our group just gave up on signup and showed up for events. Also you need to have everything signed up for by 8 pm the night before but there is no easy way to cancel and no penalty for not showing up -- so when activities start there is usually space but you have to wait until the no shows don't show. Bathrooms in some rooms were quite small. The toilet in my sisters room i think was built for a child. The food included with the rooms was good but not great. The al a carte menu was better but quite pricey. Also service in restaurant seemed good not great. We would have to flag down a waitress and several times they would say no problem and scurry off to fulfill our request, when others at the table also had requests. Also some of the staff could use some more training. They are clearly reaching for a luxury travel experience but check in, communication and questions seemed to lead to different answers from different people. For instance when the folks before us were checking in they were asked what time they wanted to come to breakfast, while we were told to call 1 hour before coming down -- frankly i dont really want to do either and would like to just show up for the breakfast thats included in price. The staff was all very nice but a bit more training and organization is needed. But none of the issues really affected our trip and as a whole great time and I would definitely return. read more

My husband and I honeymooned in Tuscon and chose the all inclusive package stay at the ranch. The grounds were beautiful and the rustic atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There was a slight mix up with a private ride we had scheduled, but the ranch's response exceeded our expectations and we ended up having the best trail ride of our visit. I've been riding my whole life and my husband has limited riding experience. Although we weren't able to fit in the more intensive rides this trip, we both had a fantastic time on our walk rides. The horses were well taken care of, well trained, and fun to learn about. The highlights of our activities were the trail rides, cowboy cookout, pickleball clinic and spa service. The dog house saloon became a favorite spot to grab drinks and play pool after dinner. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a mixture of relaxation, adventure and authenticity. read more

Wow what a beautiful location, tucked away in the saguaros, at the very end of Speedway, right next to the East Side Saguaro National Park. It has been in Tucson for 157 years. This dude ranch is very cool. The home of the runner up Iron Chef Tucson Chef McKenzie O'Leary. The Barn on the property is a beautiful venue, large open space with a gorgeous view, indoor bar, and huge banquet area. We had a few samples of the food and yummm. There was a charcuterie table, a Bavarian pretzel bar, with two dips cheese and mustard. One of the cheeses on the charcuterie was a coffee coated cheese and it was amazing, there were a few others that were also yummy. After the Barn event we decided to go to the main buildings up top and check out the bar called The Dog House and it was very good. I had the Pork Belly Fries and my daughter ordered the Wangu Hamburger, both were amazing. The staff was so nice and helpful, and McKenzie is so easy to talk to, I will definitely be back to try one of the Cowboy cookouts, bunch, or one of the amazing events they have going on. read more

We came here for Thanksgiving and had a really great time. Reservation is a must. They had 2 seatings for the buffet - one at each of their dining locations. We went to the 2nd seating. We had 6 people in our party and the initially told us we'd be sitting in an annex section of the room that was about 50 ft from the buffet - there were concerned and ask if that was ok. It was more than ok - it was perfect because we were away from the crowds all walking between the tables to get the buffet sections. It was much quieter and the tables were huge - plenty of room to put plates once we were finished with them. Service was great. They were picking up plates, refilling drinks, etc and were very attentive. A few at the table did not like the prime rib - they didn't seem to have any pieces that were well done enough. I heard a lot of people asking for more well done parts and they didn't have any - must have been a popular request that day. The shrimp, crab and salmon were all very good. Everyone loved the mashed potatoes and the turkey. I would love to see more vegetarian options - we had one person in our party who was a vegetarian and was a little limited, but they had plenty to eat. Either a pasta option or stuffing without meat would be great. Also, for Thanksgiving, my son was bummed that they didn't have sweet potatoes or sweet potato casserole - a recommendation for TVGR to consider for future T-giving buffets. One strange thing - most of just had water to drink. A few of us said that it tasted like dish detergent, even after refilling. Others said theirs were fine. Speaking of the restaurant only--this is not "fine," or even "good" cuisine. Best to just think of it as food. Everyone was polite, that was not the issue. And you can just have sustenance, of course. My objection here is that the place represents one way online--as fine food--but in reality the raw ingredients--filet mignon, Chilean sea bass, fresh vegetables--actually experience harm from what is done to them in the kitchen. The prices are way, wayyyy out of line for the quality you get. Aesthetically the dishes were unappealing. I don't mean uninteresting or commonplace, I mean (again) that harm was done. The plates were pretty large, and the food took up literally less than half the space. The sea bass and the steak with their respective accompaniments of green beans and mashed potato gunk were shunted over to one side of the plate, leaving an unattractive naked porcelain buttock on the other half. There was also some difficulty with representing the prices. The menu says a side salad is $7. The server told us because we were not guests of the hotel but walk-ins, accessing the buffet for salads and desserts would be $20 per person. I believe the server meant well, and did bring our question (can we just have a salad for $7) to the kitchen, and the answer was a "yes," but it was real strange needing to negotiate for lettuce. Would I go here again? The drinks in the saloon were good, the horses cute, and the sunset super nice. But no-no-no way would I return for the food. read more

We had a great 6 day stay at TVGR! TVGR had been on my radar for a couple years. My husband had indicated an interest in doing a dude ranch visit, and I was attracted to the southwestern setting and cuisine and overall high ratings on Tripadvisor. We went at the end of June/early July. Mind you, it was hot. We had expected dry heat, but apparently the Tuscon area monsoon season started early this year, so it was muggy and hot. TVGR tries to make it bearable by moving all rides to the morning and offering things like water balloon fights for the kids in the afternoons. As a Floridian, I am used to the hot, and it was bearable for my family, but if you are from more temperate climes, you might want to avoid traveling here in the months of July and August. I was there to ride, so that was my main focus. I grew up riding English style, and it was great taking a couple horsemanship lessons to learn Western basics. I made sure to schedule 1-2 rides per day. The breakfast ride with the kids was fun. We did one Saguero Adventure Ride, which was nearly 4 hours of nonstop riding through the National Park. It was beautiful but very hot. It left at 7:15AM, and there was no official stop for breakfast. We were each given a bag of snacks, and we ate as we rode. After two lessons, I felt ready for the Lope Check. I've read a lot of complaints of the Lope Check, but I thought it was fair. According to one of the wranglers, 7 years ago, they passed a lot more guests, and there were a lot more accidents on the loping rides. I went for one loping ride, and... I fell. Oops. I was the sole guest who passed the lope check my week, and I fell when my horse spooked at a lope. Thankfully, I only had some scrapes and bruises, but it could have been worse. Having watched other riders fail the test, I don't think they should be out on the open trails at a lope. But I'm glad that I was able to lope on the trail. It was fun before the fall, and I might have loped again, but it was my last day. The non-riding activities were hit or miss and depended on the staff person running them. Fishing with Stephan was awesome. My husband is an avid fisher, and he learned new things from Stephan. The fishing lake is a bit of a joke, but it was still fun to be there with Stephan. The kids loved it. Archery was less fun as the arrows were in pretty rough shape, and depending on the staff member running things, the instruction or guidance could be nonexistant. Axe throwing was interesting but too hot at the times scheduled (and no shade in the area). I didn't try mountain biking, hiking, or any of the arts and crafts. The nature center stuff was generally pretty good. We went birding one morning, and it was pretty informational. The best lecture was the rattlesnake lecture that is given by Brian the herpetologist. I never thought I'd enjoy learning so much about rattlesnakes! We did the all-inclusive option. I was concerned about getting bored with the food, but they change things up enough that it was fine. Serving sizes are huge and assume that you're working like a ranch hand. I wouldn't say that the food was gourmet, but it was generally tasty. Desserts are their weak point. We stayed in a one bedroom Rincon Vista suite. It was located up the hill from the main hotel area, and it offered beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The room was very pretty and relatively recently updated. My kids loved the two Murphy beds in the living room (so much better than sofa beds!), and they also loved taking baths in the claw footed bathtub. I liked the big rooms and the decent amount of closet and drawer space. The room was kept well cleaned by the staff, who must have known our activity schedules, as we usually returned from our morning rides to a clean room. My kids did the kids club daily. My daughter was 6, but as there was a pretty low occupancy our week, they allowed her to be in the older 7-9 year old group, which meant she got to do trail rides (usually, the 4-6 year olds are only lead on lines in the pen and don't do trail rides). Usually, there are two rides per day, but in the summer, if it's too hot, they'll skip the second ride. I think there was only one morning when the kids were offered a second ride, and many still skipped it due to the heat. Both kids loved the kids club and were sad when our vacation ended. read more

The barn was air-conditioned, even though one whole side was open to the outside, which created a comfortable atmosphere while still allowing for stunning views. It opened onto a huge grassy lawn framed by mountain views, with fairy lights strung overhead, adding a magical touch to the evening. read more

Our family went to Tanque Guest Ranch again this year for Thanksgiving. It was perfect. Everything was well prepared and the old ranch location cannot be beat. I also felt the service was excellent. It was child friendly as we went with my son and his two children. They loved to see the horses! I understand it is one of the only existing ranches where people can visit to stay overnight or enjoy old Arizona ambiance. I failed to review at that time but thought it was a good time to mention that with Easter and Mother's Day in a few months that it is a good place to enjoy a buffet. My husband and I went to the Ranch for Mother's Day last year and enjoyed the restaurant and the ranch property. I recommend going to the end of Speedway and enjoy the old Tucson Ranch. read more

Shaved ham, prime rib, oyster and shrimp cocktail appetizers, a crepe station, amazing sides of all kinds. I don't even know where to begin because my Tanque Verde Ranch experience was absolutely enchanting and down to earth for my soul. Right upon checking in, I was warmly greeted by Cheyenne to which she explained everything I needed to know and answered my questions about my ranch stay. I showed up a bit earlier before check-in to which I wanted to fully utilize the activities I signed up for with my all-inclusive package. The front desk graciously held my belongings plus even took them to my room once it was ready. The next two days flew by for me! I made the best use of my time coordinating stuff ahead of time. I did horse walks, basic and intermediate horseback riding lessons, axe throwing, archery, yoga, meditation, intermediate bike rides (bumpy in the desert and fast paced but still enjoyable and exhilarating), BB gun range, visited the nature center, made use of the indoor pool and whirlpool. I love keeping busy and best of all there were moments I could rest as well so had the balance of this trip to a T. I ate exceptionally well. The food they had varied according to the time of the day, like breakfast and lunch having a menu and buffet option and dinner being menu-based. The service was hospitable and folks constantly bussing tables/making it presentable for the next person. As a solo trip I felt safe and relaxed at TVR. I can't sing enough praises for this delightful ranch. The nighttime sky is also a sight to behold..something about the Arizona sky is quite dreamy and mystical. Next time I ever visit the ranch I want to make sure I do it on days where they do the cookouts and hopefully will get to try other activities like the evening stroll or fishing. My grandparents came to this dude ranch annually in the 60's and early 70's. Growing up, we had an old black-and-white photo of them on horseback in front of huge cacti on our mantle. Ive always been curious about the place and wanted to check the place out for myself with my family for "spring break". Our expectations were sky high and i was afraid this trip would be a letdown, but it was quite the opposite. It was the best family experience i could ever have imagined-- a dream come true. The ranch is so special and its history is so unique-- you can imagine exactly what it would have been like to visit back 100 or 200 years ago. It definitely has that wild west vibe with cacti and dust and old historic structures, lodges, dining areas, and a cool, old bar, the dog house-- set in front of a dramatic backdrop of saguaro cacti and mountains. It's perfect! Exactly what I imagined a dude ranch to be. Our twins (age 5) attended the kids camp daily and LOVED it! They did every activity imaginable from horseback riding to tennis, fishing, swimming, and making crafts and slime. They even had a kids playground. While at the ranch, we did the breakfast ride, which was amazing and the breakfast was delicious with homemade pancakes, bacon, and fruit. It was set up on picnic tables with red tablecloths at a dilapidated homestead surrounded by mountains and saguaro cacti-- perfect!! We did the cowboy cookout twice, which was fun and delicious! A band played and it was set out in an open field with wild hogs roaming around.The kids were able to run around with their new friends from camp and we had friends from tucson join us one night. The drinks were delicious and the food spread even better. We are the rest of our meals in the dining hall, which was perfect. Every meal was wonderful and the prices totally reasonable. There was always a great selection of food for the kids. It was so easy to walk to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff was great and so friendly, including, the wait staff, camp counselors, front desk, wranglers and hiking guides. We enjoyed horseback riding, hiking, and my husband ride his mountain bike daily-- all from our doorstep. We hit the large pool every afternoon, which the kids loved. The place is a true gem and there are few places that exist like Tanque Verde Ranch these days! We made so many memories and we definitely be back next year-- and hopefully one day, our family will have a plaque on the dinner table as one of the families coming for decades. We made reservation but it wasn't too busy when we got there. The area where they had the food was a little dark, they definitely need more lights in there. WOW!... Did I mention 'WOW'?!! To ring out 2020 and hopefully a better 2021, my wife got wind of the Tanque Verde Ranch and it's incredible list of activities. We decided on the 'Cowboy Cookout' on a cold December night, midweek. Chicken, ribs, BRISKETT, Cod, salad, watermelon, drinks, hot cocoa, coffee, beers all wrapped around numerous picnic tables lit by roaring pit fires for warmth. On top of this was a live acoustic guitar player playing wonderful country -western tunes with an incredible voice. Really, this is how to bring in the new year, fun, dancing and a perfectly cooked meal - all you can eat BTW! Need to check this out; we've been here 5 years and never knew this place and it's 'Resort' existed. Basically get on Speedway, head east until the road ends, literally. Absolutely going to head back with out of town guests! On site bar, bathrooms, LED light hanging lights and courteous employees makes this a choice place to not just practice social distancing guidelines, but to get out and see God's earth in a gorgeous little spot in Tucson. From the horseback rides to the buffets there want a miss during our stay at Tanque Verde Ranch. They front desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable and eager to please. They activities were plentiful. Nature Walks, Archery, Cowboy Cookouts, Horseback riding and riding to breakfast, Mountain Bikes... fishing and more. The Falconry class was epic. Jeffrey the Hawk was a hit. Rotating dinner menu was a nice touch. ( only downside is they ran out of the dinner specials VERY early. Twice during a 4 day stay. Like 7:00 early when the mess-hall opened at 6. Please fix this. Or don't mention the specials we can't have. We missed Sea Bass and Prime Rib by having a 7:00pm sitting. ) A high point was Desiree the Bartender at the Dog House Saloon. She was attentive even when she was buried 5 people deep. She is a whirling dervish of service. Pay her more! Or get her some help. The bar menu at The Dog House has great wings, a burger, nachos or just chips and salsa. An amazing outdoor adventure for the whole family. We had a blast at Tanque Verde with our two boys and highly recommend them for an action packed getaway. So many fun activities on-site that you literally never need to leave. Our favorites included many mountain bike rides (with an incredible guide, John), sunset horseback trail ride, informative nature center visit and a morning hike. Kids club made for some options for just adult time and the pool was a great place to relax. If we had been there longer we would've explored even more. Each day we all were exhausted from doing fun outdoor activities (most included when you get the all-inclusive package). A solid amount and quality food at the main dining and alternative at the saloon will keep you recharged. Reservations are as easy as using OpenTable for each meal- perfect! Everyone was kind, supportive and inviting. The only way to make this stay better would be dusting longer than 3 nights so we could do more, a server at the pool (or a bar) and a refresh of the accommodations (clean but dated). Fathers Day brunch. Food that was available was good. Last available reservation was a 1:00 reservation. When we got there, we found out they would close at 1:30. The waitress said they might put more food out, wasn't sure. A very odd choice of sides including a couple of sour oysters, of course everyone dropped the oysters to the side. A few of us were able to get a portion of prime rib before they ran out, we just shuffled what we had around the table so everyone got at least a small portion. We were told they would bring another prime rib out but never did. Don't recommend for brunch. read more

The outdoor event at Cottonwood is amazing, the food is delicious and the music was excellent. Highly recommend for guests visiting Tucson.

We came for the cowboy cookout, but because of the rain it was moved inside. There was no clear sign directing where to go, no staff anywhere to tell you that you were headed in the right direction, and when we found where to go my dad opened a door and was snapped at that they weren't ready. When it did open we got in line, but then were told to go to a separate line to pay. The second line didn't have our reservation information, so wonder why we even made a reservation. It's a nice venue, but it's either understaffed or doesn't have competent staff. The food was not hot or even warm. I am assuming this was due to being inside, but the baked potato could not even soften the butter packet. I will say that our server getting drinks, Aidan, was super helpful and responsive. Came here from NJ to enjoy an all inclusive weekend with my husband and we had such an amazing time! We loved how authentic and historical the ranch was. From the moment we stepped into reception until the very last dinner we thought every thing was great. Melanie at the front desk was so welcoming and helpful at answering all of our questions and scheduling our activities. We stayed in the Desert Garden Casita. We enjoyed how close it was to everything. It was very spacious and rustic. Im sure the fire places come in handy during the winter but be prepared because the rooms do smell smokey. The food was even really good, probably one of the best filets I've ever had. We absolutely loved all of the horse back riding activities. The sunset ride was incredible. I feel in love with the desert sunset and my horse Roman! My husband and I are both beginners and took 2 walking rides and the horsemanship lesson before attempting the loping test. Fortunately we both passed. The lope ride was pretty incredible and such an adrenaline rush. The horses go way faster on the lope ride than in the arena so I totally get why they're strict about the test. Some of the other activities were a little underwhelming but the horse rides made the whole trip worthwhile! Marty and Josh were great teachers and led great rides. Avoid this place like the plague. Went there for brunch with my family And the food was adequate Like something you would get at a Denny's. The wait staff didn't seem to care, there were flies everywhere in the dining room that came for the corral 300' away. You had to keep on pushing the flies away between everybody between every bite. I guess that's what you get for going there please it's almost 60 years old, Now I know what the early cowboys felt like esting out in the open. read more

My husband and I stayed here as a honeymoon and loved it. This place is wonderful! Food is absolutely amazing and the staff couldn't have been friendlier and more accommodating! Room was comfortable and had beautiful scenery (javelina heights room) we enjoyed horse back rides, pool, cowboy cook out on Saturday night and the "famous" breakfast horse ride on Sunday morning. I can't stress enough how good the food was! Highly recommend stopping by and enjoying the views, restaurant, bar or getting a room and staying the weekend or as long as you can! read more

wow we really loved it here!! everyone was so helpful and friendly and the setting was eye candy! gorgeous views from every spot and the grounds are enchanting. loved the view from our room and the food was great (we did cowboy dinner and breakfast buffet). turkeys and javelina (and a cute ranch kitty) roam the property, pool and hot tub are great. was there for just one night so didn't participate in the many activities offered. just a couple drawbacks, the flies are a bit out of control (I get it, there are horses), and the drinks are pretty light on the pour. overall, such a great experience! read more

My partner and I live in Tucson and decided to try the cowboy cookout a few Saturdays ago. The location is amazing; sadly, the food was underwhelming--the steak was overcooked and they gave us one little triangle. I expected better. I recall years ago the open air mesquite tri-tip they used to cook up at McGraws and had my taster set for that mouth-watering food, so the disappoint was sincere. The music was GREAT! The older gentleman on the guitar was a godsend. Thank you!! My real problem was the inefficiency. We had to wait in line to pay and we couldn't pay until a certain time--and then we were told we had to wait around the small area until we paid--we couldn't go grab a table. It was so weird. Like who makes you loiter before you queue up? And then it was one credit card reader for the whole damned lot of us. Ridiculous. THEN stand in line for the bar with ONE slowwwwww bartender. From a business perspective there were just people standing around (or lining up) ready to GIVE THEM OUR MONEY. Only they couldn't be bothered to take it fast. I don't know who runs the place, but they are missing a huge opportunity to make that place grand. It felt so... eastside. I wish I felt compelled to take out of town guests there, but I don't. This place is amazing, fun, and relaxing. We ate here for breakfast and it was top notch dining. The breakfast buffet was full of fresh eggs, meats, fruits, cereals, oatmeal, and potatoes. The buffet also had a lot of drinks to choose from like milk, oj, fruit juices, and coffee. My wife ordered the waffles and fruit plate, it came out fast and fresh. The serving size was very filling. The view and atmosphere here was very welcoming and relaxing. The walk around the property afterwards was beautiful and we will most definitely be back to stay in the resort and enjoy the amenities next time. Keep up the great work here, you are creating a very awesome cowboy type experience. And I can't wait to check out all the fun next time. read more

It's an ok place, but way overpriced. 2.5 stars. We spent one night to celebrate our anniversary. The cheap room cost us $460. The first room they offered me would have been $1000 a night! Those prices are what you pay for high end, luxury hotels. After making the reservations and discussing further with my wife, we decided to not stay there and find a less expensive option. Unfortunately, the ranch has a 30 day no cancellation policy, which was discussed AFTER I booked the room. We made our reservation within 30 days and were told we could move it to a different date, but would paying the full price. So with that, we stayed the night. After checking in, we discovered our $460 room was simply adequate at best. There's no fireplace in the room, no tv (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), no mini fridge. We had two beds, a table with a couple chairs, and one fairly comfortable leather chair on the side of the room. The view out the back window was of a dead cactus laying on the ground and a bunch of tall weeds in a field. The shower didn't even look great. We decided to just wait until we got home the next day for showers. Another issue with the room was the thermostat. To be fair, we did not contact the front desk. We were tired from the horse ride and had already changed into our night clothes. It was 54F in the room when we got there. My wife turned it up to 75 just to get it warmed up. It went to 78, then stopped running until it was low 70s, then it kicked on and went up to 81. This continued throughout the night. The air blew directly into our faces the entire night and switched from hot air to cold air. But was always running. The positive I will say was the pillows were wonderful to sleep with and the beds were decent. But again, it's a $200 ok room, not $460. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. If we had to actually pay for it out of pocket, the bill came to a little over $27 for both of us. No idea what they actually charged us for it. Plenty of food options, as you can order off the menu plus get food off the buffet. I got a pancake which you needed a knife to cut as a fork wasn't going to do it. Eggs were lukewarm at best. Standard buffet food. I also ordered an eggs benedict from the kitchen which was decent, although the chef put red peppers on it even though I specifically requested to not have them. My wife has food allergies and ordered an omelet with ingredients known to be safe. Her omelet came out with additional items added into it, so she couldn't eat it. And I only got one cup of coffee. After all the food was eaten and we showed we were ready to go, a gentleman finally came and asked if I wanted any more coffee. A good 15 minutes too late. The ranch itself is right next to the Saguaro National Park and is in a beautiful setting. Definitely a pretty setting for a wedding, which there was one going on the day we were there. They offer horseback riding for $95 a person. It was an hour and a half ride and very beautiful. I definitely recommend taking them up on that. You don't have to stay on property to partake in some of the activities they offer. They also offer spa packages, but again way overpriced. An hour long massage was $225. Rubs Massage is 15 minutes up the road and you can get an hour massage for around $100. They have a very beautiful outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, with amazing views of the Rincon Mountains and the national park. I'm not sure if the pool was heated, but it looked inviting. Overall, the ranch has beautiful scenery and is a nice place to go and relax for a night or two. The downside is the prices are more than double what they should be and adequate is the best I can say for the food. Just to give you a comparison, my wife and I stayed on a private island in Seychelles. The huge hut we had actually had a second floor in it and the back deck had stairs going down right into the Indian Ocean where you could drink your wine and watch the sunset. With private dining, boat rides, snorkeling around the island, a mini fridge, room service, etc. That room was $400 a night and that was just last year. read more

First, the grounds are beautiful and definitely a hidden gem! Beautiful location for special events, photos, etc! Beautiful horses to enjoy, too. Front desk personnel are polite and helpful. I booked some spa treatments for 3 of us for a girls weekend. Sadly, when we arrived, they were only able to accommodate one of us. BOO! They were very apologetic and ended up comping our luncheon and cowboy cookout. Double YAY! The cowboy cookout was under the stars and they have a huge spread of delicious BBQ food and sides. They even had dessert! Their cobbler was divine. Lemonade, water, and tea are also included. There's a bar that serves beer and wine, but that's not included in the price. The live music was a perfect addition to the evening. There's dancing to be had and roping for the kiddos. Also, don't worry about being cold, as there are fire pits and warmers to keep you comfortable on any chilly night! Overall, their cowboy cookout is a great dinner experience! Fathers Day brunch. Food that was available was good. Last available reservation was a 1:00 reservation. When we got there, we found out they would close at 1:30. The waitress said they might put more food out, wasn't sure. A very odd choice of sides including a couple of sour oysters, of course everyone dropped the oysters to the side. A few of us were able to get a portion of prime rib before they ran out, we just shuffled what we had around the table so everyone got at least a small portion. We were told they would bring another prime rib out but never did. Don't recommend for brunch. read more

Well, on the positive side, The staff was courteous and friendly especially the wranglers The first issue is if you booked through any agency other than the ranch they do not honor whatever amenities such as all inclusive. They bill you a la cart and give you the bill when you check out. We could afford it , but over a thousand dollars for the week. Staff kept saying it was included. NOT. The room was horrible. Extremely small one chair, one dresser, no shelves, and no shelves in the bathroom. The power outlets were hanging out of the wall unfastened and no light in the closet. The drawers fall out of the one dresser. The room is a fire hazard. Do yourself a favor,,,do not go there. read more
