I used to have a lot of respect for those guys and suggest them everywhere. but the diagnostic price plus quote of $2000+ was fricking absurd for what was actually going on. it was professionally fixed elsewhere for under $1000, correctly.

I pay attention to everything from the waiting room layout to prices and services. I loved my experience at Blairs Ferry Automotive. Their prices were more than fair. I got a tire rotation and oil change on Groupon, and while I was in, they pointed out the old lug nuts and bald tire (a previous mechanic had charged me for two tires, but only replaced one.) They never spoke down to me and gave me a good price on a new tire. They were quick, responsive, and at the end pointed out a few other things that could easily be fixed. When I told them to go ahead and do it, they let me know cheaper and easier ways to fix the parts if I didn't want to go with them replacing them. Additionally, the waiting room was clean and well-stocked. A majority of the clients I saw while there were women, and each were given the same type of treatment. I often leave a shop knowing I won't be back, but this time I left certain I'd recommend this place to others.

While I was in college my parents helped me with vehicle costs, but when I graduated and realized how much the Ford dealership wanted to charge me for some repairs I started asking around to see if my friends had a local mechanic that they would recommend. My roommate refferred me to Palo Auto Repair and now they are the only shop I will trust my vehicle with. I've had them work on my Ford Explorer twice now and both times they charged me almost exactly what they initially quoted the cost to be (the first time it was actually a little less than anticipated) AND what they charged was much less than what the Ford dealership in town quoted me. They have stayed at the shop past their normal closing time to accomodate my work schedule and have always had a quick turn around with getting the repairs taken care of. Joe actually takes the time to explain exactly what is he going to repair/replace and why which I really appreciate as someone who isn't too familiar with cars. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone who is looking for an honest and straightforward mechanic.

Front hub assemblies, cv shaft, upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, the works! I bought all the parts prior to dropping off, aside from one hub assembly which they had provided. The bill was obviously extensive, well over $2,000. Totally was prepared for it and paid my bill in full. There were no complaints, at first. Less than a week later I drove out to my dads, roughly 20 minutes away. On my way I started experiencing some severe shaking. Thank goodness my daughter wasn't in the truck at this time! I get to my dads and we were absolutely shocked! All but one of the lug nuts had BROKEN off! I've literally never seen this before. My husband and my daughters dad are both mechanics and they explained this was because it was not torqued properly. The only reason I sent my truck to this shop is because neither of them had the time and I wanted my truck fixed. Any mechanic would have realized why this issue occurred. I towed my truck back for joe to fix, which he did fix. However, he then wanted me to pay another $400+ to fix his mistake! Absolutely not! I brought in my previous bill to show not only all the parts were brand new but that he had been the one to do the repairs. He comes in and I explained why I shouldn't have to pay for his mistake, to which he tried to claim it was because my truck was so rusted. Everything was new, so regardless of the amount of rust my truck may have the parts were not rusted. He made a huge scene and never owned up to his mistake! I refuse to work with someone who doesn't stand by their work.

The staff was friendly and helpful during my call to schedule service and on the day of service. I didn't have to wait long during the service. This is all good, but probably true of many places. What set this service apart from other good automotive service I've had was the Vehicle Inspection Report I received. I got a text with a link to the report. It was like other reports I've received when getting vehicles serviced - a multi-point inspection with color-coded indicators of the status of each item . . . with pictures! I could see the air filters, the fluid checks, and the corrosion on my battery terminals (which made me feel more comfortable authorizing a little extra work). Maybe this is the future, but it was a first for me. Very helpful! My only slight disappointment is that I prefer to wait during service, and this option is usually reserved for early morning or early afternoon. It would be nice to have a little more scheduling flexibility, so I give John's 4.5 stars, (rounded up)!

My repair was fully covered under Jeep warranty, so taking it to the dealer would cost $0. Al, who advised me of my options said I could just go get it fixed free at the dealer (which he communicated to them before I went). The point is that these guys could have easily gone the "shady auto shop" route and charged me for something the warranty covered, but instead these guys were honest.
