He and I took a quick ride and he had a good idea what the problem was. We returned to his shop and he got under the truck and started shaking the drive shaft around and said the truck should not be driven. He said repairs could be somewhere between $800. to $1,400. and it would take a day or two. My truck was not safe to drive. He then gave me a ride home about 4 miles away. I then received a call from the owner several days latter who told me he was able to adjust and tighten and lock a nut and the damage he expected was not present. He surprised a retired guy, on a fixed income with a bill of $116.00. I was so surprised and grateful that honest people like him still exist. Places like this are rare today.
