With the pandemic still in full swing, that wasn't a feasible option so I called Annette and explained that I desperately needed a touch up but I was nervous to see a new stylist and would feel more comfortable if she'd use the same relaxer I'm used to. She had no problem going out and getting the exact formula I use on my hair and was able to get my in the salon the next day. I was so pleased with the work she did. One of the reasons I don't typically go to other stylist, even for something simple like a relaxer, is because they'll often rush through things, either missing some of the new growth or over lapping with the hair that's already been relaxed. I've also had stylist skimp on the basing and because I have a super sensitive scalp, without enough base I start to burn before I'm fully processed and I'm not one to sit in the chair burning, it needs to come out once the burn starts. All and all I was really happy, and I'm glad to know that there is a stylist I can go to in Boston, especially when there is pandemic going on that makes it unrealistic to travel right now.

Apparently you CANNOT get intense bleaching done back to back the way I did. There was only a SEVEN (7) day time period between my blonde and my bleaching again for the pink color. I would go here again but I am skeptical as the stylist should have educated me instead of telling me it was fine to color my hair. Especially since my mother had just died my confidence was at an all time low because of this. Not to mention quarantine happened not long after so I never got to go back!! I got advice from another licensed stylist before confirming the state of my hair.

Being in school, then the pandemic, and then the stress of starting a new healthcare job in the midst of covid-19 resulted in me ignoring/avoiding what a mess my hair had become. To top it all off I'd had relaxed hair for 20 years, went natural in 2019, and wasn't exactly sure what to do with my newly natural hair on a day-to-day basis. In the span of just 2 hours, Mercedes created order and beauty from it by helping me to detangle, trim, and silk press my hair to lengths that I didn't even know were possible. There is no getting around it: having 4c hair requires more maintenance than other hair types but I trust Mercedes as a partner in my natural hair journey as I hope to grow to shoulder length and beyond. I am scheduling my next appointment with her today and I cannot wait :) TL;DR: My hair was a mess and Mercedes gave me a silk press transformation that my eyes could barely believe. Do not hesitate to book your appointment, this woman is truly a hair miracle worker!

She has been cutting, styling and coloring my hair for over 20 years and I've yet to ever be disappointed. She knows exactly what cuts and colors will look good on me, and her suggestions are always the most flattering. When she first starting doing my hair, I was only 13 years old, and it was very convenient that she was located in the same town I lived in. As I got older I moved about 30 minutes away and refused to look for a closer hair stylist. The travel for me was worth it. And her new location, though farther away for me has not deterred my insistence that she be the only one who touches my hair. It is very conveniently located only a few minutes away from her old locale. She has done everything from perms (when they were stylish) to adding gorgeous blonde streaks to my otherwise dark hair to cutting off over 10 inches into a fantastic bob. Every time I leave there, I feel fantastic. She styled my hair for my wedding and I'm still receiving compliments on gorgeous my hair looked on that day. Paula never rushes through a cut or style to get to her next client. She will step back and analyze her work so far and see if there's something she can do to make it even better. As for my appointment yesterday, it was my first trim in about 6 months, just a wash, cut and blow-dry. Nothing fancy, but when I left, I felt amazing. On my way home, I had to do some errands. Well, I received two compliments from an employee and customer at Whole Foods. As well as a "Wow, your hair is so beautiful!" from a random stranger in Target. Being a mom of two little ones, these kinds of compliments don't come often, and I knew it was a direct result of my trip to Paula.
