She is a Sassoon trained stylist who just gets it right each and every cut and helps me to understand what I can do to make my hair come "close" to the way I leave Vinndio. After 5.5 hours, I walked away with a horrible hair color, texture & cut. It has been over a month since I got my hair color & cut by Julie and I have not been able to put my hair down once, that's how bad it looks. My family members and myself have used Lena's (the other owner) service before and we love it. I had a trim done by Julie before and it was not a bad cut. Hence, when I couldn't book an appointment with Lena, I thought Julie would do a good job too. Big mistake. First, the lack of professionalism in handling her client's appointments is mind-blowing. During my first appointment with Julie she kept interrupting my haircut and going back to another client's hair trying to fix the color that she messed-up for her. I thought this is a fluke and accidents happen. But the same thing happened this time. She actually cut and colored the hair of two other clients while I was sitting in her chair hence, the 5.5-hour appointment. I specifically told Julie that I stopped bleaching my hair five years ago because, although I liked the color, I didn't like the texture of my hair after bleaching. I specified that I would like her to get my hair to the lightest shade possible without bleach. My previous hair-stylist, which I used for a number of years, was able to get the right shade with one treatment only. Julie proceeded to indicate that I would need multiple treatments to get such results. She spoke with such confidence that I thought I'll give her the chance to try. She used three treatments on my hair. My hair is so beaten up, cracked and dry that I might as well have bleached it. At least, with bleach I will have dry hair but with better color. Now, I just have a bleached dry texture but with a horrible color. I usually alternate between Aloe Vera and coconut oil in weekly treatments to maintain my hair's texture and shine. I did not use them daily because they usually over-softened my hair. Since the hair cut, I have been using both on daily bases for over a month now and my hair is still so dry and shedding like crazy in the shower. I usually don't write reviews but after struggling with my hair for over a month, I felt strongly enough to write this extensive review. Again, this is not a review on the other stylist in the salon. I have used Lena and I like her work and her work ethics. I have not used any of the other stylists, so I cannot speak for the quality of their work. This is a specific review about Julie and the quality of her work and her general lack of professionalism in handling her clients. read more

Remy cut my hair today and it was great. The atmosphere of the salon is super cool and it was really good deal for a hair cut. Remy even fully curled my hair because i said i was going out later and didn't charge me extra which is saying a lot because i have A TON of hair! I like having short hair but every time I've gotten it cut other places they give me a full bob and i look like a soccer mom and i hate it but Remy fully listened to me and squared off my short hair at the perfect length. Samantha of Adore Styling, who is a stylist at Vinndio, did such an amazing job on my hair and makeup for my wedding! She was cordial and sweet about meeting me at my home in Rozzie for trials and was extremely easy to work with. I got tons of compliments on how natural my makeup looked and that the hairstyle was absolutely gorgeous. I have never had my hair and makeup professionally done for an event before and I could not have asked for a better stylist than Samantha. Particularly with her makeup, she was extremely clean and tidy. There was no worry about cross contamination with another client. I have acne and my skin reacted extremely well to the airbrush makeup - actually looking clearer the next day! She even was a sweetheart to our dog. I recommend her highly! read more

I have been going to Lena for cuts for years and I always love what she does for me. She's creative and talks you through what she's thinking before she starts, so you can help direct or just let her take the reigns while she informs you of what you're heading into. I've trusted her when I cut off my long hair to donate and went into a pixie cut inspired by a picture of my mother after she passed (so it was very emotional and risky!) and everything in between. I've moved to the mid-west and have held off on my hair cuts when I know I'm visiting Boston, so I can see her. She can make cuts as conservative or edgy as you want, with styles that will look good when you leave and as it grows out, so you return when you feel its time/longer than you want, but not because it looks bad. read more

I was asked through a Facebook Marketplace ad while in town to sit as a model for one of their assistants in training, I cannot remember her name but she was tall with naturally reddish-curly hair. I had long hair that I was looking to keep and when I explained I wanted it simply cleaned up to her, she and I seemed to be on the same page, however because she is an assistant, she had an instructor who was teaching her how to do what I wanted, and so I reexplained what I wanted to her instructor. Almost immediately, the instructor took a section of my hair to demonstrate and took 1-2 inches more off of my length than what I had asked for. I do not blame the girl I answered the ad for, she sincerely seemed to understand what I wanted, and it seemed as though the instructor thought she knew how to explain better than what I wanted and the poor girl couldn't say no once her instructor had already taken the inches off. The girl did a good job considering it was too short for my liking. Clean and friendly place, but make sure you really make them know what you want before they start cutting! read more

I've had my hair cut by three of the four stylists at this salon (Julie, Lena, and Sam), and they're each outstanding - extremely skilled, and just all-around lovely people. If you're looking for a Sassoon precision cut, and don't like the vibe (or price-point) in the Newbury St. Sassoon salon, I recommend this place and these three stylists, as they're all Sassoon-trained. But even if you don't want a precision cut, go - they can do any type of cut, and very well! The salon is really zen, with an awesome selection of teas and really great music. Nothing loud and blaring here - creativity-inducing electronic, and music like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Sam did my most recent cut, and I'm very, very happy with it. I got a lot of compliments from friends and colleagues, but the most important thing, to me, is that *I* love it! If the stylists weren't so great, though, I might be giving this salon a three-star review, and here's why. On my first visit to Vinndio, I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time. To me, a 45-minute wait for service is acceptable in one place only: the emergency room of a hospital. Please, stylists: Out of respect for the on-time clients who follow, reschedule late clients!! As a result of this wait, I was stuck in early rush-hour, ridiculous Storrow Drive traffic on the way home, making the travel time so long and aggravating I strongly considered not going back to Vinndio. But, because of the quality of the stylists, I ultimately decided to give it another chance. I'm glad I did, and this time I was seen not only on time, but even a few minutes early! read more
