I stumbled upon Haven & Hair salon, when I moved to Belmont several years ago and was looking for a new stylist. I really liked the ambiance of the place, but that on its own is not enough to earn my service as I am very particular and picky about my hair style. The owner and stylist, Iva, respected that and was very accommodating. She's been doing my hair since 2017. The salon is a warm and inviting place where I always leave feeling beautiful and taken care of. When it comes to my hair, I am rather conservative and rarely try new things, but most recently, after several conversations on the topic with Iva, I finally got the courage to try something new. I am a natural brunette and have always had this color (well with some grays these days...), but last week Iva tried something completely new and blended my grays and gave me a very refreshing and beautiful color that not only complements my style and highlights my skin tone, but also makes me feel younger! I had a haircut appointment today with Linda. The salon is very cute and comfortable, and Linda and Iva are both incredibly nice and welcoming. The shampoo was really nice, with a scalp massage included. They use really nice products from an Italian line called Oi, that are cruelty free and without any weird chemicals. Everything smells amazing. Linda took her time (in a good way) cutting and styling my hair. She was very attentive when I described my hair and what I wanted. I really love the cut and the way she styled it. Often when I leave a salon I have to go home and fuss with my hair to decide if I really like the cut. I left feeling so good about the way my hair looks. Linda was very sweet and easy to work with. I highly recommend Haven & Hair and would gladly go back. The cut was $75, with a 20% discount for my first time in the salon. Although it's slightly pricier than the last place I went, it was well worth it. read more

I'm sure you knew this was coming.... My mother made an appointment at 4:30 pm yesterday. She has a wedding today. I bring her into appointment and she is told that they made a mistake. They thought she was another customer named, Joan Peterson. They explained that the customer is there now. None of it made sense considering we were 15 mins early for appt and the woman that made appt asked my mom all questions (have you been here before, etc? ) I was appalled how we were just told sorry we made a mistake and try to find another salon. They said come back if you can't find anywhere. Nice, customer service. That was so unacceptable. I was so shocked I couldn't even respond. Luckily, we took a walk around the corner to Salon De Paris and my mothers hair came out amazing. They are so welcoming there also. We will be going there from now on. I highly recommend Jessica P at this salon! She has been doing my hair for nearly 8 years when I discovered her when I lived in downtown Boston and I trust her completely! I remember when I first met her as a new client I was terrified seeing someone new, but she knocked it out of the park and I've been going to her ever since! I typically get a blonde balayage and the color is perfect each time. She also put in some stellar hair extensions for me for my wedding last fall that I absolutely loved. She is so talented and really cares about each of her clients. Her time & attention to clients and overall finesse with hair is the best I've ever experienced. I drive out the way if needed to have Jess do my hair. I'm so excited she is now at this location in Belmont now that I've moved out of the city and even easier to get to! 10 out of 10! I was at my wit's end with a bad color/roots and a life-changing presentation to make in less than a week - and lucky me, I got a last-minute appointment with Sandra. it was destiny, y'all. best color i've had in years. and sandra knew what needed to happen so quickly, and was so spot-on. she listened, she made great suggestions, and clearly had years of experience with 'finicky' blondes. low lights, baby lights, paper vs. foils, so fast! no heat...this lady is a hashtagPRO. to top it off, she's so kind. she texted me to see if I wanted to come in sooner, when a spot opened up. i walked out feeling like a hundred bucks, gave a great presentation, and I'll be back. it's a great space, and so glad it's my new neighborhood spot. read more

Sandra is amazing ! I found myself in the unfortunate predicament of needing my hair fixed after a terrible cut and color disaster at a different local salon. Sandra took a hack job cut, and somehow worked her magic so that I was able to wear my hair down without embarrassment and had been a champion in helping me throughout the growing process over the past year. Sandra was also able to tone my color and brought me back to a much more natural look and I'm just so happy with her talent. Appointment scheduling is so easy at the desk or on Vagaro app! I will never go anywhere else for my services. You've taken a frazzled mess who was frustrated with stylists and salons and turned me into a lifelong customer. So, full disclosure: I am someone who always reads Yelp reviews but rarely leaves a review myself, unless I feel REALLY strongly about an experience. I have been looking for a great stylist for the past 10 years since moving to the area, and FINALLY I have found that in Iva!! She is talented, genuine, kind, and funny; Not only am I so happy with my haircut, but Iva made the whole experience enjoyable and fun. She took her time, asked questions, offered suggestions, and apologized for being "a perfectionist" when she wanted to make sure my hair was even on both sides! I live in the neighborhood and noticed that the Salon was under construction and I waited patiently for the two lovely women, Linda and Iva to open up their salon. I went to their opening party and they were warm and fabulous. As soon as I could I booked a color and style with Iva and I could not say more about the service or my hair. For the first time in a long while I have shiny, rich, gorgeous hair that I absolutely love. They use the best product line, Davines from Italy. A sustainable line that smells so amazing and makes my hair feel amazing too. The decor is clean, sophisticated with a feminine touch. The whole place gives you a warm and welcoming feeling. Overall experience was pretty spectacular. I was a little skeptical to change my hairstylist AGAIN but I hate when they don't listen to you and just do what they want. I walked in a little early and Iva was still taking care of her client, I could overhear their conversation and she was giving her pointers and helping her style her hair, some stylist just do your hair and you're off, she was taking time to teach her client. Then she took me back and she actually listened to me and gave very much appreciated suggestions and made my blocky balayage look great again. I'll def be back! Iva was so sweet and nice. After 2 years of jumping around from salon to salon, I finally found the perfect place! I was drawn to Haven and Hair for their proximity to my house and for the design of the salon. It is super cute and has a great atmosphere. I have been here 3 times now and get my hair cut and colored with Iva. She is absolutely fantastic! She is super helpful with color selection and has great tips as to what would look best with my skin tone, etc. My cut is amazing as well. I have a short angled bob, that I get SO MANY compliments on. I have had several random people stop me and tell me they love my haircut. I go to Dana and I can't say enough wonderful things about her!! I wanted a change and so I aked her what she thought we should do. She gave me the best cut of my life, it literally just falls into place. The color she did is multi-dimensional and so shiny. I have literally been stopped everywhere I go by people asking me who does my hair. I can't recommend her enough. She is super sweet and really listens and made me feel so comfortable. Iva is a very talented artist with an eye for color. She has done a balayage on my hair twice and both times the color has complimented my natural tones in a beautiful way. I really trust her with my hair and love her vibrancy! It has also been a pleasure to meet Kat and Linda. I have been looking for a good hairdresser ever since my long-time (20 years) hairdresser retired 5 years ago. My search just ended with Iva at Have + Hair. My hair needs are not particularly complicated -- I just need a really good cut. By which I mean, someone who truly knows how to use scissors, create layers, texturize, etc. If you are looking for the same thing, and want someone who knows how to find a hair style that will complement your face, then run to Iva. Cyndi is incredibly talented for both cut and color -- she gave my light brown hair beautiful blonde highlights that truly look natural, and updated my cut so it looks great and is easy to maintain. My 16 year old daughter decided to color her hair green and it was a multicolored disaster! I called Sandra and asked her to save her hair...and see if she could make it an unusual emerald green shade. Sandra actually spent a ton of her personal time researching to find just the right color...that alone was so amazing, but then she completely restored her hair and turned to a stunning green. I have been meaning to come here for a few weeks, as I was told this is a great salon if you have curly hair. I did and was so pleased. The salon has a clean and airy and happy feel. Both Linda and Iva made me feel welcome and listened to.(I found out that Linda speaks Greek and Iva speaks Serbian too).I got a haircut ,color and finishing that I have gotten loads of compliments on.
