I was using all the wrong hair products, I had heat damage, I wasn't sure what to do with my hair or how to take care of it, and I didn't know how best to sleep with my hair at night to get it to last. I've learned so much education about my hair and curls from Sharita at The Loft and it wouldn't have happened without this salon. After consistently taking care of my curls, they're amazing now. Pros: - Very educational - Diverse salon (natural hair salon, but people from all backgrounds attend) - Versatile style options (wash and go, twist out, up do, hair color, hair cuts, etc). So many options. - Friendly staff - Online booking - Detail of product offerings that work for my hair - I love that I'm always asked if I want definition or volume for my hair - Appointment only (no walk-ins). You don't have to wait hours before sitting in a chair to get your hair done.

Well, as the husband of one of Sharita's clients, I want to give her a shout out for her EXCELLENT, ABOVE AND BEYOND SERVICE to my wife. Down through the years Sharita has used natural methods to give my wife beautiful waves and curls and has been very accommodating to my wife when scheduling changes were needed. I have been so appreciative to Sharita for her professionalism and kindness to my wife that I prayed her business would prosper bountifully, and one day, I gave her an extra tip matching the cost of my wife's appointment. Guys, take note: bring your wives or lady friends to the Loft Hair Studio for the holidays (372 Medford St Somerville, MA 02145). She AND YOU will both be very pleased!

I have very sensitive hair, and Toriah took her time to understand my concerns and offer detailed solutions. I really appreciated the education she provided--she walked me through every step with a mirror and encouraged me to ask as many questions as I needed. Needless to say, I was thrilled with the results. It was truly a 'trendy before-and-after' moment for my hair. I'm so grateful for The Curl Bar!

I would give ten stars if I could. I never knew my hair would actually curl. I had what my Mother…read morejust described as "stringy" hair that would frizz to 2x its normal size with any precipitation. I have lived in buns most of my life. (I do work in a place that calls for contained hair.) Working from home for 1.5 years during the pandemic I left my hair down more. I noticed that it waved. I wondered if I saw a curl specialist if the person could get it to curl. I'd settle for "not frizzy." I also live with someone compromised, so I have been very cautious about indoor settings. I hadn't had a cut in 4 years ... I actually read and followed the directions of walking in with a wash and go - no bun, no hat. The stylists need to see your baseline. I looked like Medusa. I was a little mortified. And I had actually tried to tame it a little with curl cream. Toriah was so patient and kind. She did not judge at all. Taylor was also working on another client, and they both educated both of us (me moreso as a completely clueless curl novice) for 2 hours. I could tell Toriah was not only knowledgeable but also really interested in her craft. She said "I can't wait to see what your hair does!" I was SHOCKED by what she was able to get it to do. With a treatment, the right products, and the right drying technique, I had curls. Full curls. Not just waves. Curls. SHOCKED. Toriah is a wizard. She also made me a detailed list of products so I could replicate the look at home. And they weren't just the most expensive stuff. (I've researched.) They were the right balance for my hair. I am so grateful, and I only wish I hadn't waited so long to see her.

She has been cutting, styling and coloring my hair for over 20 years and I've yet to ever be disappointed. She knows exactly what cuts and colors will look good on me, and her suggestions are always the most flattering. When she first starting doing my hair, I was only 13 years old, and it was very convenient that she was located in the same town I lived in. As I got older I moved about 30 minutes away and refused to look for a closer hair stylist. The travel for me was worth it. And her new location, though farther away for me has not deterred my insistence that she be the only one who touches my hair. It is very conveniently located only a few minutes away from her old locale. She has done everything from perms (when they were stylish) to adding gorgeous blonde streaks to my otherwise dark hair to cutting off over 10 inches into a fantastic bob. Every time I leave there, I feel fantastic. She styled my hair for my wedding and I'm still receiving compliments on gorgeous my hair looked on that day. Paula never rushes through a cut or style to get to her next client. She will step back and analyze her work so far and see if there's something she can do to make it even better. As for my appointment yesterday, it was my first trim in about 6 months, just a wash, cut and blow-dry. Nothing fancy, but when I left, I felt amazing. On my way home, I had to do some errands. Well, I received two compliments from an employee and customer at Whole Foods. As well as a "Wow, your hair is so beautiful!" from a random stranger in Target.
