I got orange highlights and face-framing layers ... I tried to stop her halfway through to ask what was happening... got brushed off. She did agree to tone my hair cause whaaaat? When I went to pay and gave my coupon this super brisk chick was like "yeah that's not for tier 3 salonists" and I was like "I'm sorry, what?" And she was like "that deal is only for level 2 and below".... #1 this service is an absolute embarrassment to anyone who claims to be tier 3 #2 how would I know to book different? I have been a client for a while Having my hair cut and colored. I recently had an expensive hair piece also colored as the stylist said she could do it. She destroyed the hairpiece The color is so dark and it cannot be corrected. I had this service done at a previous Dellaria salon and the stylist knew what to do Had I realized this was a special skill I would not have had this salon do the work. Booked an appointment for 2:30. I had a meeting at 3:30 and figured an hour would be fine. Walk in- front desk lady is too busy chatting to notice me, for about five minutes, which is fine; but just to note that the overall customer service atmosphere wasn't there at all. I waited twenty minutes before realizing that I wasn't going to be seen anytime soon, walked up to the front desk to confirm (she said "oh yeah we still need some time") and left. Every time I've gone for a haircut in the last four years somewhere, they either do some fancy nonsense with layers or ruin my hair for weeks with a ridiculous blowout. I would like to preface this by saying I really tried to like what I came in for, but I could not look past how it looked so I ended up having to spend more money at a different salon to get it fixed. I went in for the $175 new client deal, which was a partial balayage and included a haircut and a blow out. I originally had predyed brown hair that turned very brassy, and when I got there, the stylist that was with me that day told me she could try her best to tone the red out which was appreciated, but may not be possible. During the balayage, I asked why only one section of my bangs was undergoing bleach but not the other, and she responded that it was only a partial balayage so not all of my hair would be foiled--this is very understandable but at the end of the day, there was not much change to my old hair and the front pieces highlighted were very uneven. After the blowout it looked okay in terms of the lighting in the salon, but I was truly not very convinced that it turned out okay--it was just hard to say anything at the moment because the stylist kept telling me how much I would love it which is also my bad. The people that work here are very lovely and nice, they just did not do the best job with my hair. When I went home to inspect everything thoroughly, I noticed that the additional bleach done to the back of head was very uneven, and my hair was cut unevenly too. Over the next few days, the color of my hair became very, very red and brassy. Before, only the bottom of my hair was bleached, but after the salon visit, I noticed that the bottom section of my hair was connected to stripes to the newly beached parts in the middle section of my hair--if you see the pictures, it's not a very good look at all. All this was also surface level, any hair underneath was just black. I was in contact with someone to see if I could get compensated in any way, but because I went to get it fixed somewhere else shortly after, nothing could have been done, which is a little disappointing. I had called a couple of times shortly after with no response before I got a hold of someone through email, but I decided it would have been in my best interest to fix my hair as soon as possible somewhere else. I had no intentions of returning after the service for understandable reasons. Overall, very nice people, just very disappointed with the experience. read more

One word of advice: go here to see Victoria. I first started going to Victoria almost two years ago to get back my natural hair color two weeks after a dramatic, vivid deep blue dye job. Then I just haven't gone to anyone else ever since. After the natural hair (black) color grew out and I was itching for something more exciting, I went back to Victoria to try out silver, which down the line turned into a variety of balayages, blondings, then metallic blues, rose gold pinks, other depths of silver or ash blonde, and a metallic purple that I'm at now. I haven't trusted anyone else with my hair color (and now cuts!!), and I pointedly followed Victoria from where she previously worked. I'm excited to have her as my wedding stylist, and for future goals of super-short hair, platinum, you name it. I've had good experiences at the Dellaria Salon in Downtown Crossing so I was super excited when I saw that they were opening a location in Davis Square. This location is brand spankin' new (they just opened 2 weeks ago), but the only thing that might give that away is the slightly sparse furniture arrangement. I walked in on a Monday and asked if they had any after-work appointments available in the next few days. Tuesday, the very next day, at 6:30pm? Perfect! The place was nearly empty, but that's what I expected given the time and the brand-new location. I got a fairly simple cut and style with Michael. He was great--very personable without being nosy or overly chatty--and I LOVE my cut! They use Bumble and Bumble products (as well as others), which work fantastically and smell super good. I was in and out in 45 minutes, which I'm pretty sure is a record for me. However, I didn't feel like the appointment was rushed at all. They give you great coupons after your first visit for discounts on retail products and future salon services. AND you get 10% off your next appointment if you book it before you leave! I'll definitely be coming back to this place for all my future haircuts. Why pay $65+ to go all the way to Newbury when you can get a fantastic cut in Davis for $20 less? read more

When I left Dellaria after my appointment, my hair looked great. It had been styled, and I received compliments that day. However, it was not what I asked for. I told my stylist that I only washed my hair twice a week (at night) and spent about 5 minutes in the morning on my hair. I asked for a cut right below my shoulders, with some long layers. I did not get that. Now, the longest part of my hair is right below my shoulders, but the layers are pretty short (some near my ear) and they look choppy and uneven when I "do my hair". Now, I do not style my hair. I don't know how, and I don't want to spend the morning doing that. This haircut does not fit my lifestyle. I have been wearing it in a ponytail two days a week because the ends start to flip out into a look similar to Carol Brady. I wish my stylist would have listened, instead of giving me a look that they envisioned me having. Points for online scheduling, being open on Sundays, and stylists who have skill (even though they don't listen to what the customer is asking for). EDIT: I think the salon's response reinforces that they need to listen to their clients! I mean, telling the stylist that I don't wash my hair often and spend 5 minutes on it in the morning does not mean give me a haircut that only looks great when the stylist spends more than 30 minutes styling it. Next time, I'll bring a diagram of my morning routine, which is a basic hairbrush. I complimented the stylist's skills and talked about how my hair looked nice when I left my appointment, but to tell me that maybe next time I need to bring a picture because I did not accurately communicate what I wanted is insulting. read more

I have been coming to Gina at Dellaria in Davis to get my hair done since July 2015, and I keep coming back because she is awesome. When I first came to her I had long, light brown hair, and wanted to explore highlights to cover some recently discovered grays. We started with traditional highlights but then moved to balayage and she's really good at it! I can go several months in between appts when I'm busy or traveling and the color grows out really naturally and always looks good. She is great with my wavy/curly hair and really understands my texture and shape. She gave me great cuts when it was long, and then helped me cut most of the length off to donate and has kept giving me great long bob cuts and colors since. She is awesome at playing with alternative color if you want to; I was feeling inspired by Pinterest and wanted some peak-a-boo bold color streaks on the under part of my hair and Gina delivered exactly what I was looking for based on my inspiration photos. On top of great cuts and colors, Gina is very sweet and organized! She remembers things we have talked about, like what I do for work, and where I travel, and she takes very good notes on what she does for cut and color. I highly recommend her! TLDR; thank god i found Fatija for balayage + cuts! SALON POLICY : A+ I went here over the summer for the first time for a balayage with Julie, and I was going for something dramatically lighter. Her cut was perfection - but the balayage wasn't as light as I wanted, so I called for a correction. Julie was a little confused when I said I was hoping it would be comp'ed because it wasn't what I had asked her for originally, but the salon owner was very gracious and told me she was happy to comp it because she wanted me to be happy. and I was! The color was exactly what I wanted and I got a lot of compliments. FATIJA: A+ As happy as I was with my blonde balayage (see Before pic), when I booked a balayage with Fatija I noticed in retrospect that my previous dye job was missing in spots, and blended pretty low on my head. With Fatija, the job was IMPECCABLE! it still went from darker on top to lighter on the ends, but there was clearly highlights evenly distrubuted throughout, so that there were no gaps and it looked pretty natural. She checked the hair color sample with me before doing it, and I couldn't believe how much I loved it. I've wanted a natural-ish looking red-brunette my entire life! She made me the latina Jessica Rabbit I've always wanted to be. 2 of the pictures attached here are from that day. The last two pictures are today - I went back to the salon for a haircut because my cut was losing its shape. this is 3 months after the balayage -- LOOK HOW GOOD the color still looks after 3 months. We didn't update the color at all- it just held up really well. I was a little picky today, and was really specific with what I wanted, and she listened and took my feedback without making me feel uncomfortable. There's also something really soft and gentle about Fatija that I appreciate. I generally like to be quiet at the salon and read a book, because I'm a little bit of a chatterbox in life so I fully power-off when I'm at the salon. and Fetija just kind of calmly works on my hair and never makes me feel awkward. Today I ended up asking her a million questions and talking to her (with my book in my hand) because she just has a really nice aura about her. read more

I've been here twice and will continue to be a loyal client. On my last visit I went in with a description and some approximate photos of the style I'm ultimately going for, but my hair needs to grow quite a bit before that's possible. The stylist did a great job of talking through what I wanted, what type of styling/maintenance I'm willing to do, and assessing my hair type and what it realistically will and won't do. We settled on a strategy to set things up for the style I'm intending to grow into, and only then did she begin to cut. In-between cuts can be rather lackluster or even awkward, but the look she gave me was so great that I'm thinking I may stick with this instead of the original goal! Another thing I was very impressed with was their handling of my nut allergy. I mentioned it sort of offhand, but the staff immediately took it seriously and before shampooing me they carefully checked product ingredients and showed me the safe options. It's rare to encounter that level of education and sensitivity in a non-food setting, so it meant a lot to me. I'm sad that I can't remember the stylist's name, but everyone I've encountered has been wonderful! read more

Third time visiting Ashley at Dellaria for a Deva cut and color, and I am always happy with the result! The salon has excellent safety protocols in place for Covid -- temperature check and health screening questionnaire at the door, hand sanitizer throughout, everyone had masks on. The salon is always clean and bright and the prices are absolutely reasonable, but it's the quality of Ashley's work that keeps me coming back. I called the salon today, because some of my friends have had great color and cuts from here. So I gave a rang today,and went in at 2pm. I got booked with Ashley. She listened to what I wanted and followed the photos I wanted. I go an inverted bob cut with two toned ombre of blurple (blue purple) to a teal. She did a wash, cut, then dried. She applied the bleach first, and then I sat and Waited for I to work. It got rinsed out and then she applied the color. After 20mins of waiting she rinsed it out and finished cleaning up my cut before blow drying it out. Ashley was fun and was very supportive of having a little more fun with hair color.
