I will never let anyone else do my hair, only Rebeka. I had such an amazing experience. I had a wash, treatment, blow dry, and trim. She was great, down to earth, highly knowledgeable about natural hair, and even recommended a dermatologist for me to see to help me take better care of my hair. I learned more sitting in her chair in 15 minutes than I ever have at other salons. She is deeply passionate and skilled at what she does. So why am I so excited about the service I received? Now, I haven't had my hair done at a salon in years because stylists didn't know how to properly do my hair. I have really thick coily hair with a lot of shrinkage. It usually took 4-5 hours just to wash, detangle, and dry, excluding the wait time. Rebekah was done in 2.5 hours and it would've been less if my hair wasn't so damaged. When she was done my hair felt healthy, soft, and manageable. I didn't think it could look as good as it does. Never go to the salon!!! Avoid it at all costs! I wish I could put less that 1 star. I went there for a pony tail and the stylist (Malik) combed my hair for 10 minutes. After 5 mins he rudely said "you realize I will charge you $25 for combing your hair?". I just said I didn't know that was part of it but then continued to sit in silence since he seemed to be in a bad mood. Then 5 mins later he raised his voice and said "you seem like a nice girl but I'm not doing your hair". I started to cry and then he started to insult me saying that my hair was bad/disgusting, and that he won't do it and told me to go home. He said he would give me a $10 tip in addition to my refund. Through tears I said that was the meanest thing anyone had done to me in a salon and in response he said something about me not experiencing enough bad things if his actions were the worst. I went home in tears. The worst salon service I hope to ever receive. To add, I drove 1.5 hours round trip because I needed to do my hair for some plans and that was the quickest appointment I could find. Avoid this place and any Boston stylist called Malik. Terrible experience! I also just realized there are multiple people that had bad experiences here. Please don't go and take the chance- it's not worth it. read more

I had the absolute best experience getting my sew in done here. I called a couple weeks in advance, just to get an idea about pricing and the services they offer. I spoke with Rebekah, who was kind and welcoming over the phone and answered all of my questions. When I was ready to get my sew in I called again to set up an appointment. They had availability in the early evening which was perfect for me since I work until 5pm and would need to take the train to the salon. My appointment was set up with Malik. He was very attentive to what I wanted with my hair. We had a conversation about my hair and what I wanted before he started braiding and he continued asking me questions about my hair throughout styling, making sure we were on the same page about what I wanted with my hair. (Whether I wanted to wear it up in a ponytail at all, how much leave out I wanted, where I wanted to put the colors I was adding, etc) I even showed him a video of the sew in technique I wanted and we discussed how that would turn out with the hair I brought. I literally have no complaints. He didn't braid or pull to tight, he really handled my hair with care, he took his time and didn't rush through finishing my hair, he even gave me suggestions for styling my hair at home. I felt comfortable here (so much so that I was practically meditating with my eyes closed almost the entire time he was doing my hair) and I left with my sew in feeling secure, not too tight Everything about my first experience here was 10/10. I really liked the salon itself, really clean and organized. Rebekah and Malik (the stylists that were there at the time) were super friendly and hilarious. Oh and of course my sew in turned out amazing! Malik did such an amazing job and I will absolutely be coming back to him again. As much as it pains me to right this review it wouldn't be me if I didnt't do it. I was all set an excited to try this salon which i was referred to. The appointment process seemed to be professional, a little different but I thought just give it a try, i thought right off the bat this salon is different from the other surrounding salons, but then i got the disappointment. I paid $30 for a 1 hour consultation, got passed that (it was not a full hour ijs), after that i tried to schedule an appointment with the owner Ms. Rebeka, this was in the summer of 2021, she told me due to the Carribean Carnival she was booked up. That was understandable, waited a while, November comes its my bday and i wanted my hair done. i ended up scheduling an appointment for 12/2/21 paid $50 for a deposit and the remaining balance would be paid when the services was complete. But as i thought about it, that date no longer worked for me because my bday was b4 that. i had my niece braid my hair so i could have my hair done for my bday, the style ended up lasting longer than i thought so i TRIED to RESCHEDULE (not cancel) my apt. way before the 48 hours this salon requires you to do before you forfeit your $50 deposit. While trying to RESCHEDULE Ms. Rebeka proceeds to say "what am i supposed to do with the appointment" if i were to reschedule... How is that my proplem?As long as i did my part to call within the proper timeframe it should'nt have been an issue?? well we went back and forth via text and i just ended the convo saying i will reschedule at a later time. fast forward to the later time which btw was 3/1/22. i thought about my $50 deposit and wanted to see if i could schedule an apt again, not to mention i had already spread the word to several friends about this place and they were anxious to see my hair and opinion of it. Rebeka explains another side of the story explaining why she would not be allowing me to use my original $50 deposit for a future appointment. So now im bothered because im torn between paying another $50 or just being done and just finding another salon. The facts of the matter was unjust to me. i already paid $30 for the consut., $50 for the deposit, now i would have to pay another $50 for another deposit plus the remainin balance of my services which was $40 c'mon now $30+50+50+40+ $170 for a wash/treatment/trim/silkpress. i told her that seems unfair. This woman refunded my $50 deposit and told me "I totally understand money is tight and i will refund you your $50 so you can use it some place else" !!! This is what the OWNER, OF A SMALL BLACK OWNED BUSINESS said to a willing and paying customer during the middle of a PANDEMIC. I'll let that marinate for a sec. Why the attitude/sarcasm. i wasn't a trouble patron , i enjoyed meeting with her during my consultation, she was nice to me, i bought products from her at the shop, she gave me some items to try. what did i do wrong for her to disregard me like this. i really wanted to experience this salon and support the black businesses as i often do. For some reason these BOSTON HAIR STYLIST have attiutudes and bad customer serv. Also compared to other cities (like ATLetc.) they are no where close to the level of sophistication with styles and creativity ijs, and being this came from the owner saddens me even more! Don't go here. The owner is rude and extremely disrespectful. She cussed me out, and talked trash about my hair after I was already very self-conscious about it. I did nothing to her at all. She literally made me cry. I never leave reviews, but I had the worst experience here that I have ever had at a salon, and still think about it over a year later. I got on the wrong train and called Rebeka to let her know I may be delayed. I got off of the train and walked to a shop with the same name that was closed. I called and asked for directions considering I am not from this area. I was met with a nasty tone. I excused the nasty comment and proceeded to get my hair done. While getting my hair done, Rebeka stopped to answer the phone and make appointments. I went to get up and she said, "where you going?" I was shocked. I said to get my charger. She said, "you were 20 minutes late, sit down." At that moment I contemplated walking out. I have never been so disrespected. It gets worse. I was told that to wash and press my hair is 70$ and 10$ for a trim. At the end I asked what is the total, 80$. Rebeka proceeded to tell me the cost was $125!! I said no, I told you over the phone I didn't want a treatment. Then she said it's $95. I'm assuming she added her own tip, which I would've given anyways. I handed her $100s and was glad it was over. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever received. So disappointing. Never again... read more

I've called Styllistik on two different occasions. The first time, I was only able to leave a voice mail requesting an appointment. I never received a call back. I tried them one more time several months later and was able to speak to a receptionist. I requested a last minute appointment and was totally ready to hear that appointments were not available. The receptionist put me on hold and indicated that he would check with the owner. The owner took my call and asked for the services I wanted done. She responded by stating she would need to call me back. I again never received a call back from anyone. As a small business located in the inner city of Boston, this place needs to do better. I recently started going to Rebeka about 5 weeks ago after having an unfortunate experience with another hairstylist. Rebeka took the time to evaluate my hair and discuss what she feels my hair needs. She took the time to interlock my hair (almost 4 hours) on a Wednesday evening. I went back to her this past weekend for an undo for a Black Tie Event. All she had too do was look at a picture of my dress and she was able to give me a dope undo. She will be my hairstylist for as long as I live in Massachusetts. read more

I went to this place once in 2015 and can agree they do good work (although pricey). However, I recently called again to make another appointment after moving back to Boston. Unfortunately, I received the same unprofessional attitude over the phone as I did 3 years ago. Tried giving them another chance but disappointed with their professionalism, again. Not sure who I spoke to but I inquired about an evening appointment within their hours since I work full time & they were rude in their response (as if late appointments are such a burden for them). It's cool that they do good work, however it's also important to stay humble & maintain good customer service skills. Your clients and potential clients ARE your business, not the service. Bad vibes all around. Suggestion is to find a place with good service AND appreciative staff. I will not be giving this place my $$ again & wish them the best of luck. read more

I called this lady once too just like the other reviewer and she wasn't that friendly. I don't expect people to kiss my butt, and I'm not extremely sensitive. However if I am giving you my hard earned money then it wouldn't kill you to be pleasant. If I don't understand and need clarity on a service such as a wash and set or wash and blow dry, well then humble yourself and explain it to me. I just called this place about 10 mins ago, and talked to the owner Rebeka to ask about price ranges for what I wanted done. She was extremely rude, no joke. I was trying to explain that all I wanted was a trim and deep condition and then to let my hair dry naturally or under a hair dryer because I like that look and I don't want heat added from a straightener/curling iron. Every time I tried to explain this so that she could understand, she gave a slight laugh like I didn't know what I was talking about and asked me to reexplain, asking me if I wanted braids, two strand twists, etc. NO, I want to let my hair dry either with air or with a hair dryer. I understand that you are the hair stylist, but I am the customer and if I'm going to spend my money, then maybe you should try better to cater to what I want and be more understanding, without the attitude. When I asked what time she took appointments up until, she said, "The time that it says on my website." I proceeded to say, "Ok, you're open until 8, so you take appointments until 8?" She responded, "No, I take appointments until 7." Why not say that in the first place when I asked? Save yourselves the trouble because if she sports an attitude like that on the phone, then I can only imagine what she is like in person, and that's not somebody I would want working on my head. I am writing this on here because I could not bring myself to be rude back during the phone call, as I am a respectful person... and so my journey to find a good natural hair care salon in the Boston area continues. read more

Upon reading the previous reviews mine may sound like a broken record but our situations could not be more similar. I called the salon left a message and there was no response until I called again and spoke to Rebeka. She replied with saying she would reach out to me later because her Ipad was down. As a business owner how is your only means of communications an Ipad and if that's the case a charger should always be in arms reach. After a day of charging her ipad, she calls me the next morning to set an appointment and we decide for Friday morning at 10am (note this is through text message). I arrived at the salon 10am sharp and NO Rebeca. One of the employees said she had just left and would be back shortly, but as I look at her station there is no evidence of her ever being there, just a clean workstation clearly she was never here. After 15min I asked the employee about her status, he calls her and hands me the phone and she was totally unaware of the appointment we had made. After speaking to her she says I never confirmed the appointment, I told her to re-read the text because it clearly states the date and time of my appointment. What upset me the most was her unprofessionalism of not making any accommodations of saying "can we reschedule" or just apologies for making a mistake on my day off! read more
