Despite giving them my insurance information weeks ahead of my appointment, they said they couldn't figure it out, and I was forced into an ultimatum: Pay out of pocket and submit the claim to my insurance or don't have the appointment. I then paid out of pocket, submitted it to my insurance. Then trying to get them to refund the difference in the bill due to the in-network discount has been like pulling teeth. Prices for one thing! Even with my insurance eye allowance I ended up having to pay $200 with some features having to give up on! The staff was pleasant but I didn't feel the professionalism that I'be felt in the past with other ophthalmologists! I found this place browsing through my VSP locations, was able to make an apt electronically (LOVE), and got in within 1.5 weeks of hearing of this place. Check-in steps were minimal & easy. I'm going to be honest with you, you called me one time and I called you back and no answer! Also it sounds sincere but the problem is is that it's a pattern for your company. How many times are you going to apologize to people about their experiences and say you'll address it but nothing gets done and complaints about the same issues keep rolling in online. You now have a reputation about poor customer service and your replies to your customers is now just generic copies at this point. Again stay away from them. Waste of time and honestly I feel their response is truly not sincere but makes them like like well we called. Again I called YOU guys back but unfortunately couldn't get a hold of you. read more

The initial service was professional. the pickup of the glasses was also but very overpriced for the product. I paid $1100 for a pair of progressive lens glasses and asked them a few months later about anything they could do about light scuffs on the lenses that are supposed to be scratch resistant. They said I didn't purchase the $29 insurance and there was nothing they could do for me. They wouldn't even take the time to look at them and wanted me to buy a new pair. Definitely not from this this supposedly legitimate provider. I'll be spreading the word every chance I get since I work with the greater Delmarva customer base. I won't be rescheduling here after my last appointment. I'm in my early 40s, very nearsighted, and have worn glasses and contacts for 30+ years. I alternate wearing both. First - you have to make a contact or a glasses appointment. My need for contacts was greater, so I chose that. My prescription has been the same for years, I've noticed recently that I have trouble seeing close up as well, having to take my glasses on and off to look at things close to my face, so I brought that up. The appointment felt very rushed. I was suggested multifocal contacts to try for a week. I was surprised when I went to check out that my exam, previously covered by my vision insurance, was now charged $150 as a contact lens fitting. This ate the remainder of the funds on my FSA card, but, while upset, I figured that was my bad for not checking. I tried the contacts for a week, and returned for followup. Told the doc that they didn't feel like they were sitting right in my eye, they moved around. Was told there were no other sizes, so to order my regular contacts, same old prescription, and get readers to wear over them. I get that medical staff, equipment, facilities etc. cost money - but for a $150 fitting: I felt rushed through the entire appointment, like the doctor had other places to be; I mentioned that I was having more difficulty seeing further away, and now also up close, and neither of those issues has been resolved - I still squint at far away writing and have to take my glasses off to read up close; the solution offered to me at this appointment, when the sample contacts didn't feel right in my eye, was to wear my old prescription and get drugstore readers to put over them. What was "fitted?" I get an insane number of calls and emails from this practice poking me to schedule an appointment, but next my vision insurance covers an exam, I'll schedule it elsewhere. read more

Ordered lenses for frames I had. Called numerous times for follow up. When you call you are always placed on hold. After 33 days of waiting I was told the lab lost my frames. They also stated they entered something incorrectly on the form for my insurance. Funny, we ordered glasses for my husband the same day and there was no problem with his glasses. They gave me the option of picking out cheap frames off two racks for free or pay 50% for new ones. This place has no idea what customer service is. read more

The visit with Dr. Castillo, was average, she asked questions and did her job. After I was asked to wait and see the eye glass specialist and Khaliah came over to assist me, my whole experience changed. Khaliah was awesome, she helped me pick out glasses that looked good on my face, gave me her opinion and she took her time helping me, I never once felt rushed. She helped me get additional discounts because of my previous glasses and I really appreciated her for being so attentive and engaging the entire time, it felt like we were friends from school. Thank you for hiring Khaliah, she made my day and my glasses are gorgeous thanks mostly to Khaliah's help. read more

I 'm disgusted with this place. My daughter went there for an eye exam and new prescription for contacts. She walked out of there paying $800 out of pocket for tests she didn't even need. Talk about taking advantage of a young person this takes the cake. They never talked to her about what her cost would be and talked about tests that she absolutely needed. Ridiculous! That's ok I know you did the unnecessary tests that's fine you just lost three long standing customers and I will tell everyone I know to stay away from greedy business!!!! read more

I went to my scheduled appointment at my eye doctor today. They had no record of my appointment even though I showed them my confirmed e mail saying that I did. Because it did not show up in their system, they said they could not see me today. Then the assistant manager said I should have confirmed verbally even though there was no need to do that, because I had the confirmed email. Simple conjunctivitis for wearing my contacts overnight, honest mistake after working 4 straight, 12 hour shifts on a COVID unit as an RN. When the pharmacy she sent my prescription to didn't have it in stock, she was mad and annoyed when asked to send it to an alternate pharmacy that did have the medicine in stock. Not to mention when waiting to be seen, I heard reception talking amongst one another simply stating, "that's what you get for sleeping with your contacts in." Completely unprofessional and down right rude. These people are jokes. DO NOT USE THEM. Literally use anyone else. Joke of a profession to act above anyone else to begin with. read more

I would give zero if I could. We purchased 4 pairs of glasses last September 2022. 2 pair for my kids and 2 pairs for me. My sons Ray Bans broke within the first 4 months. They replaced them under the frame warranty and then 3 months later they were loose again. Went back to the store and they told me that the "springs" were worn out! Didn't offer to replace them or offer any discount. My $600 Prada prescription glasses broke twice! The first time they replaced them under the warranty. This second time I went into the store and the lady told me there was nothing she could do. I asked her to take 50% a new pair and she said the best they could do was 20%. What a slap in the face! I wouldn't recommend anyone going to My Eye Dr at all! They don't care about their customers. They actually sold us a pair of prescription glasses for my daughter who has 20/20 vision! I booked an appointment for both of my children one month ahead of time so I could take off work and school. I got a confirmation text saying they would "see us tomorrow" less than 24 hours from our appointment date. When we arrived we were told "the system" canceled our appointment because I had not called back to confirm and that the appointment time had already been filled. I should have known this place was subpar from the horrible customer service received from the inception of the process (e.g., sighing, clucking tongue when making an appointment). The office allows a 10 minute grace period. To their credit, to start, I WAS 5 minutes late to the appointment. However, what they failed to tell me during the confirmation call is 1) which door to enter... I parked, got out of my car, proceeded to the door...only to find a handwritten sign stating that the entrance is on the opposite side of the building. 2) There is a strict 10 minute window. When I arrived at the opposite side of the building, there was another handwritten sign with instructions to call before entering. I called, the phone rang FOUR TIMES before I was greeted by a lackluster voice. Once I entered, I was told I had to reschedule because they only allow a 10 minute grace period. IT WAS 10:11 a.m (after waiting an entire month for an appointment). If I had been told where to enter, to call upon arrival, and the strict 10 minute grace period -- DURING THE CONFIRMATION CALL -- the confusion and missed appointment could have been avoided. As I was writing this review, a lady next to me, returned to her vehicle, equally as annoyed. She complained that she couldn't get anyone on the phone to even allow her entry into the office. I WILL NOT reschedule at this location or any other location. I will find another optometrist to provide the services needed. This establishment, apparently, needs new management. This was my first appointment with a My Eye Doctor establishment - and was my last. In my opinion, this office has single-handedly tarnished the face of the company. read more

When I called back the person answering the phone did not even say sorry when I told her that there was a no answer on the phone transfer. I was very disappointed with the service I was given at this office. Dr. Castillo was incredibly rude and seemed agitated to be working that day. I had to get a medication prescribed to me and she stated that I was going to have to stop breastfeeding. At this point, I was in tears because I was so uncomfortable and now I was told I would have to stop breast feeding. Come to find out later (I called the pediatrician) that she was wrong and there was no reason to stop due to this medication. There was an issue with the pharmacy being out of the medication. When I called to have my prescription sent to another, I was told that it was going to have to wait because they we going on break. At this point I was mad but I wasn't going to post a review. At my follow up appointment, the ladies at the front desk were saying negative things about me as I was sitting in the waiting room. I will never return to this facility. I never did get the help I asked for. My husband had a less than favorable experience when he was dispensed the wrong contact lens and had to return them. They never caught the mistake themselves.
