But what really took our experience to another level was Jeff, the bartender at the rear bar. Jeff was absolutely amazing--Grade-A, top-shelf bar service from beginning to end. He was easily one of the most attentive bartenders we've encountered. My wife is particular about how she likes her margaritas, and Jeff took the time to listen to every detail and made sure they were exactly the way she wanted them. Beyond making great drinks, he was a true gentleman and consummate professional. He consistently checked on us, made sure we had everything we needed, and genuinely seemed to care that we were enjoying our evening. Jeff went above and beyond in every aspect of bartending and hospitality, and his level of service made an already great night at Clemente Social that much better. Treehouse was one of my favorite places because of the views and the menu. My experience this morning was the worst that I've had at the restaurant. Note: The restaurant was not busy. The host/bartender said this verbatim by the way. First, the server made it seem like siting outside was optional. Then came the excuses. The first was "you could sit outside but the seats are wet." So I found a dry seat. Then she said something about food not being brought out. So I wasted time finding a seat that was dry and not too windy when she could have clearly said something like "we are not serving food outside at this time because of the weather conditions". Why the run around? The rest of the experience was just cold and inattentive. She did not introduce herself. I sat down. A few minutes to wait for a menu, a few more minutes for water that was just dropped off, and a few more minutes to ask me if I would like a drink... all of that could've been done in one visit to my table. And she never asked if I wanted water or HOW I would like it (bottled, still, sparkling, etc). I ordered a waffle and a burger and asked for it to come out as it's ready. I'm no chef but I imagine a waffle takes less time to make than a burger and fries. Either way, they came out at the same time and I could tell the waffle sat for a bit. Then she specifically asked me if I wanted hot sauce. I couldn't tell if I was being stereotyped so I was further annoyed. Why not offer me warn syrup for the waffle? a special sauce for the fries? or just let the question be open ended... She only did "walk by" check ins, and often kept her head down. Trash and dirty glasses sat on the table and another table near by. I had to wait to ask for another mimosa, and wait again to ask for the check, well after I asked for a box. Gratuity was automatially included, even though that wasn't written anywhere. I've gotten more attentive service in restaurants that were much more casual and I'm not too excited to come back. Dear leadership, please make sure your staff can explain and execute the STEPS OF SERVICE and they know how to upsell... it would lead to more revenue to your business, bigger tips for your servers, and a better experience for the guests.
