Usually I am relegated to eating offerings from my human's plate when I visit restaurants, but at this magical place, that is simply not the case (though she did still offer bacon from her plate, and I ate it). Here I got a big bowl of cold water--with a bone-shaped ice cube no less!--and my very own menu! I chose the Scone Bone and 2 slices of bacon. They were quite delicious, and served with a delightful bouquet garni of tiny milk bones--another favorite of mine. 5 stars!! Highly recommend!! (And my human liked her food a lot, too!)

Incredible coffee shop! The Breakfast sandwiches were out of this world!…read more My wife and I came here two days in a row the place is so good! First day we had scones and coffee, the Scones were baked to perfection and perfectly balanced, the coffee was strong and delicious. The next day before our drive home we stopped again, this time for breakfast. We had a quiche that was very tasty- and a Ham egg & cheese on a croissant that was SO good... I wept a little. I can't recommend this place enough. The prices are a bit higher than average but they 1000% deliver on that with the quality and flavor that makes you feel like you're instantly transported to a cafe in Paris.

-- A Beautiful Cafe In Highlands --…read more Stopped by after visiting Sandy Hook and wanted to warm up with some coffee and a bite to eat. There's quite a nice selection of coffee and tea drinks plus an array of beautiful french pastries. They also have a food menu that includes grain bowls and other sandwiches and salads. There's even a tea bar with matcha, chai and lattes. I had a latte and enjoyed the spinach and feta quiche. Service was timely and I opted to take it to-go. There are a few tables inside and some outside when it's warmer. While you wait for your order, there is a cute area with nice candles, dried flowers and other very tasteful modern interior design accents to buy. Enjoy!

We stumbled upon Rise N Shine Diner completely by accident on our way to the beach. We just needed…read moresomewhere to grab a quick breakfast, but baby... this place ended up becoming part of the itinerary for the NEXT beach trip. We got there early, grabbed seats at the counter, and immediately started chopping it up with the owner about life and everything in between. While we're talking, I'm watching what's happening behind the counter and realizing... wwait. They're making EVERYTHING. Sauces from scratch. Compotes from scratch. Biscuits being made. Cornbread being made for the chili. Nothing felt like "open a package, heat it up and put it on a plate." Then the s'mores pancakes started getting made for another order and THE TORCH CAME OUT. At this point we didn't just get breakfast, we got a show! But let me tell you about these Banana Foster pancakes because THAT is what brought me back. Homemade caramel sauce, freshly sliced bananas, and fluffy pancakes. Not banana flavor. Not banana extract. ACTUAL BANANAS. The bacon was good, the home fries were good, the coffee was good... honestly, everything coming across that counter looked good. I was even peeking at other people's plates like because somebody had what looked like a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, and that cross-section looked CRAZY. I almost ordered one, but I knew I was already doing too much. What also impressed me was how clean and organized everything was. Food was properly stored, labeled and dated, and you could literally watch things being freshly prepared. Their specials seem to be based on what's fresh, in season and what they've made that morning, which makes the experience even better. Fast-forward to our second visit, most recently. Mind you, we're not locals. I'm coming from NYC, so imagine my surprise when THEY REMEMBERED US! That's the kind of hospitality I love about smaller-town establishments. Of course I got those Banana Foster pancakes AGAIN, along with home fries and bacon. We also had an omelet with cheese and caught the homemade biscuits coming out fresh. Once again, everything hit. And the biggest compliment I can give a restaurant is this: I literally factored Rise N Shine into my second beach trip. It went from "let's find somewhere to eat on the way" to "we HAVE to stop at Rise N Shine."

2026 Fall Soups!…read more Last week my hubby and I saw soups listed on the white specials board (propped up on the wall behind the counter) while eating breakfast. When we paid, on our way out, I asked if they were prepared to sell the soup "to go". Yes they are ready with a 12 oz container with a lid. I was also told they would have two soups available each day. So today, 10/4/26, I had hubby pick me up a portion of one of today's specials which was potato soup as a "to go" for my lunch while he was picking up our "to go" breakfasts. Yum! My mom always made a variety of soup when I was a kid and then I made many kinds, for years, for my family of four. Now as an empty nester I am thrilled to find "homemade" soup at the Rise and Shine! As yummy as anything I and my mom cooked but I don't have to do the shopping, cooking and cleanup! The potato soup came with a small bag of oyster crackers which happens to be my favorite soup cracker because it doesn't change the flavor of the soup but does give it an immediate fresh crunch which I enjoy. The potato soup was thick, creamy and filled with chunks of potatoes cut into bite-sized pieces. There was also a handful of shredded, yellow cheddar cheese and crumpled, crispy bacon thrown into the middle of it which when stirred; then swirled throughout making the soup that much more filling and tasty! Well worth trying. I am already looking forward to the Cream of Turkey soup I was told would be one of the specials in November!

When we arrived, there was a line coming out of the garage door, so we assumed it was the line to…read moreget a table. Nope. It was the line to order food. We waited about 15 minutes before finding out that you're expected to know what you want to order, place your order, get a number, and then find seating, if there's any available. The whole process felt very chaotic and unorganized. It's a weird mix between a grab-and-go café and a dine-in restaurant. I'm not saying they necessarily have to choose one or the other, but the space just doesn't seem designed to comfortably accommodate both. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but it's first come, first served. My advice is to find a seat first, then figure out what you want to order. Have one person stay at the table while the other goes to order. Even then, though, the process feels unnecessarily chaotic. They really need to figure that part out. As for the food, the blueberry turnovers with vanilla gelato were underwhelming, and my gelato was already melted when it reached the table. The mushroom risotto with poached eggs was a pleasant surprise on the menu and actually tasted good, but it could have used more seasoning. It came across a little watered down. The steak and eggs were fine, but there was a pretty sad amount of eggs and meat for the price. The drinks were definitely the best part of the experience. Creative matcha and coffee options. The restaurant is kid and dog friendly, which is a nice option, but there isn't exactly a lot of space for either. There is a kids' room, but in my opinion, it's not the best use of the space. It seems like maybe two kids and their parents could comfortably fit in there, and it feels more like an aesthetic feature than something that's actually functional. Overall, there are some good things here, especially the drinks, but the combination of the layout, ordering process, and food-to-price ratio made the experience feel more chaotic than enjoyable. There's definitely potential, but they have some kinks to work out.

Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the staff and seated soon after. The menu had a wide variety of items from paninis, salads, and omelettes, to things like burgers and New York strip steaks. The drink selection is also nice with lattes, coffee, matcha, chai, all at a reasonable price. Overall, anyone eating here would be able to find something they like. For drinks we got the coconut cake matcha, and carrot cake matcha. The coconut cake matcha had a very nice coconut flavor with cream that was not too sweet and it tasted exactly like a coconut cake. It's good if you like coconut. The carrot cake matcha tasted like a spiced carrot cake and was the flavors were very balanced. Both were very enjoyable! What we ended up ordering was the Croffle Flight (Crème Brûlée, Tiramisu, Cannoli, Fresh Berries & Cream), chicken and waffles, the Tatum's Table Burger, and the Green Goddess Salad with steak. This was my first time having a croffle which is a mix between a waffle and a croissant. Each one was very delicious and presented beautifully. My favorite thing about them was the texture and consistency since they were pillowy soft on the inside but still had a little bounce/crunch to it. On top of that, the chicken and waffles far exceeded my expectations when i bit into it and it had huge flavor! The Sweet Bourbon-Brown Sugar Maple Syrup and Honey Butter used complemented it so well. The burger was also very good and you can tell very fresh ingredients were used. It was delicious and what I noticed about it was that when eating it, nothing was greasy or oily. It was very clean and the only moisture was from the patty's juiciness and the fresh vegetables used. This is a contrast to other burgers I've had that were oily and I felt great after eating this one. Lastly, we got the green goddess salad with steak. As you can see in the picture, the portion was very generous and the ingredients were all fresh. It was delicious and is great for anyone who likes tangy herb dressings. To conclude, I must say that Tatum's Table is a destination worth visiting. The entire time I was there, I was well taken care of by the friendly staff who made me feel at home. The menu had a lot of effort put into it and the food clearly shows. I will be visiting again soon.

One thing that caught us off guard was the air freshener placed on the windowsill near our table. We actually asked to move because the scent was pretty noticeable. Personally, when I'm dining out, I want to smell the food--not a bathroom-style air freshener. It seemed a little out of place in an otherwise pleasant dining environment. That said, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely worth the visit. Our meal took a little while to arrive, but everything came out fresh and delicious. The corned beef hash was cooked perfectly and topped with beautifully poached eggs. My husband ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict and thoroughly enjoyed it. To finish our breakfast, we shared the pancake flight, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Despite the air freshener issue, the quality of the food will definitely bring us back. Next time, I have my eye on the mac and cheese flight!
