It was the right decision. The manager, Francisco Estevez, explained to me and then showed that the problem wasn't the hinge, but the frame it was attached to under the back cover. If left as is the screen would eventually break. He gave two choices to fix it, replace the cover for over $100 plus the installation cost of $80, and at least a week's wait, or, if I didn't mind having two very small screws visible on the back of the case, $80 and I could wait while it was being fixed; 45 minutes later I left with the repair done. Honest, straight forward and well priced. Couldn't have asked for more!

I let it go at first because I was planning to upgrade soon. About 5 weeks later, the new screen started coming loose on the left side. Then the display failed: colored lines down the left edge and a dark, faded picture. The phone was never dropped, and there's no impact damage on the front. My photos show the screen lifting away from the frame at the bottom edge. When I brought it back, they said it wasn't covered because it was "damaged." They couldn't point to any damage. Their only offer was $20 off another $130 repair. A replacement screen shouldn't separate from the phone after 5 weeks of normal use. I don't feel this was handled fairly, and I wouldn't recommend this shop for screen repairs

He said it would take 24 hours to fix the screen. I initially felt that seemed excessively long, but he informed me that a part needed to be ordered for this specific phone. I got the impression that if I told him it was absolutely urgent, it could have been done sooner. Regardless, I accepted it, and gave him my phone to fix. Though I was informed that my phone was fixed just before the close of business on the same morning that it was dropped off, I waited til the following day because I was busy. I went back and worked with another associate. He initially told me that the cost was hundreds of dollars, but I let him know that it was covered by insurance. He double checked, and I was correct. I asked him just out of curiosity how much it would it have cost if I did not have insurance. The answers was close to $500. The takeaway is to have the best case and gorilla glass on your phone to avoid such an atrocious expense, but moreover, pay for insurance. The screen and the phone were good as new. The insurance company picked up the entire bill. My hope is you never crack your phone or do not need to visit this establishment type, but if you do, this is a fine choice.

This diagonostic is done with no obligation on my part to pay anything or get any work done. These guys literally took a few days to run tests to make sure that the problem was identified correctly. I was thoughly impressed with how much effort they put in to do a diagnostic that they were not even getting paid for. In the end they identified the issue to be something else that was much cheaper to fix then I initially thought. I would definately recommend them for anyone needing any sort of computer work.
