I brought my computer in the next day, and picked it back up the day after that. 48 hours, and I got it back. I absolutely love the repair work Rob did. My pc was old and the hard drive was beyond hope, but he popped in a new one and it's now like having a brand new pc. So my 2010 Macbook Pro became noticeably slower to the point it wouldn't even boot up. Did a quick goggle search that brought me to Yelp and to..MCM. Computers and technology are not my thing. So when I have a problem, I tend to freak! A rather loud noise has been coming from what I thought was my hard drive for the past 2 weeks. When I took a chance and called MCM I spoke with Mike who asked if I could tell if the noise was coming from the front, back or side of the hard drive. It turned out it was coming from an external CD drive and not the hard drive at all. Simply unplugging the unit solved my problem. I'm most grateful. I also inquired about getting help setting up wireless and a home network so my desktop could talk to my laptop -- when I buy one. Mike not only assured me they could help but also offered some suggestions when shopping for a laptop. It would be great to have a "go-to" person/team for my technology needs. What can I say that's not been said already in some of the detailed reviews. My cpu had a nasty virus among other problems like having an energy drink spilled on it awhile ago and monitor problem. Bram (gentlemen I worked with) was great, fast, efficient, super fair with pricing, cpu was done in 24 hours. 5-star review. Check into the details of all the other reviews. They are spot on. Note that this is a home-based business so you are going to a house. This place is great! I called at 6pm on a Sunday night and was able to drop my computer off an hour later! Rob was instantly able to determine the problem, and he hand delivered our computer to our apartment on Thursday evening. In addition to replacing the defective part, he cleaned the laptop fans, heatsink, etc, removed 242 virus infections (we didn't have an anti-virus!), and installed Microsoft Security Essntials Anti-Virus for FREE! I was looking for a laptop repair service and ran across these guys. My laptop was in pieces due to someone trying to fix it that was not capable. These guys took on the task even though they knew other problems could have been created because of the botched repair attempt. They did not charge me any extra. They identified the problem quickly and let me know the cost. They fixed it and cleaned it up and returned it in one day. I couldn't ask for a better turn around. My laptop was overheating, and I don't have the cash to replace it right now. I had asked the folks at Apple to take a look, but the price was outrageous. I didn't know where to turn, so I looked on Yelp. This place got great reviews, so I figured I would take a chance (even though the idea of handing over my laptop was terrifying.) I could not have been happier. They gave me a loaner so I could keep working while my laptop was in the shop. They got it fixed the very next day --- and even sent me a pdf of the insides to show me what was wrong and what they fixed. Fast, affordable, reliable -- these guys are amazing. Unbelievable! What great service. My wife's computer crashed and I took it to a repair shop here on the north side. I was told that it's the mother board and it isn't worth fixing, I should just go out and buy a new one. Crap! Well how about saving what is on the hard drive and I'll just load it on a new computer.Cost $100! I thought about it and figured I would see what a mother board cost.$80 So what the hell I had time so I put it in myself. I don't recommend doing that because I missed one connection. So I figured I would give it one more shot and called these guys. He picked it up on Monday and had it running on Tuesday which then he also dropped off. Cost $100. Total, $280 for a $700 computer. If I had given it to these guys in the first place I probably would have saved around $100 by not copying the hard drive. It's nice to know that there are nice and very competent people out there. read more

Honest computer technician that runs his business with integrity. Tells you the problem with a solution after running tests and ensures everything works as intended. He has repaired 4 of my units and built one of my main towers from scratch. I can say he charges the cheapest price for the quality of work done on these gaming machines. Very knowledgeable on all operating systems, Gpus, Motherboards and services them extremely fast. I had been having problems w/my computer for quite a while; I still have dial-up so there were problems w/virus checks, etc. -- I saw the company's small ad on a telephone poll, and finally after having spoken & tried some other places, called them up to find out price & if they could help me. Not only did they help me, but went completely out of their(his) way to do more than was necessary or expected for the very low price of $60. My laptop crashed on me with what I though was a fried motherboard. I called Mycrazymachine and was answered by Rob. We scheduled a good time to drop off the laptop. He was able to find a problem in just a day and then fixed my computer for next day pick up. He was very informative and helpful along the way, explaining what EXACTLY was wrong, what he can do for me, and even helpful tips to take care of it. The problem was not as major as I thought it to be and Rob was able to handle it very well. Communicating with Rob was easy despite my phone's bad reception. He had the courtesy to show me the problem through a file attached email. He was lenient with the time I picked up the laptop. I originally thought this place was a waste based on the name. But after conducting business with Rob twice and referring this clown out to another individual, I can honestly say this business is one to be avoided. I originally met Rob several years ago when I was looking for a Macbook. The unit in question was being advertised on Craigslist for $550, and we agreed on a price of $500. When I arrived to purchase the unit, I found that the address in question belonged to a poorly kept house that looked more like a crack house as opposed to a reputable place of doing business. The place also lacked a business sign, or any other clues to inform you that a proper business was being run out of this spot. After ringing the doorbell, a rather unkept chap came to the door and explained that I wanted to to buzz the other unit. Rob eventually came out and invited me upstairs to check out the Macbook that I was interested in. The inside of the apartment was completely trashed and there was refuse and random computer parts thrown all over the place. After showing me the unit, Rob mentioned that the screen had a couple blemishes, then offered to replace the screen on the house at a time of my choosing since he didn't have the screen that he needed. I also noticed that the Apple logo wasn't lit up properly since there seemed to be an obstruction from something inside the case. After being told that it was a "cosmetic" issue, I paid and got my receipt. When I asked about the warranty earlier in the conversation, I was told that it wasn't the same as the warranty that came with the company's work since it was considered a "private sale" as Rob claimed that he was selling the unit for someone else. I shrugged this off and headed out. Several months down the road, I contacted Rob to inquire about replacing the LCD screen. I was told that I "waited too long" and that the LCD screen could only be replaced if I were to pay full price for the repair. (Are you joking?) I stated that I was angry, that the original screen had been sold with a blemish, and that I was never informed that there was an expiration date on the offer. Rob could have cared less and I hung up the phone in disgust. Fast forward to last year. My hard drive ended up taking a dive and as a reputable business owner that had documents promised to several clients, I reluctantly called Rob and asked about a repair. I was told that he could pull my hard drive, then copy it to a new hard drive and hope for the best. I was told that I would get a call when my repair was done and off I went to drop off my unit. Rob's place had gotten increasingly shabby over the years and after waiting for awhile outside, Rob showed up and wrote me up a receipt. After not hearing anything, I called Rob several times to check the status of the repair. Instead of picking up my calls, Rob resorted to texting me, telling me that the repair wasn't done. A couple hours later, he then texted me saying that he could drop off the repair. When he arrived, Rob told me that he was able to pull the contents of my defunct hard drive correctly. I mentioned that an acquaintance of mine has spilled water onto her Macbook Pro and asked about a quote for her repair. When this chick dropped off her unit, Rob apparently made some strange comments before giving her a drop off slip. The repair was quoted to be completed in a week, and that Rob would be giving a call once everything was good to go. Two weeks later, not a word from Rob. After emailing to see what was going on, a text came in saying that the repair was going to cost a lot more than the original quote. The ok was given to do the work and another week passed. Still not hearing anything, I called Rob myself to find out what was going on. After trying to get snippy with me over the phone, he tried telling me that it was none of my business (a big mistake), then tried telling me that he had been in "constant contact" with this individual (another big mistake as this was obviously not the case). I explained that it was my business if I put my name on the line as a referral and that I was not pleased with the way things had carried on. A week later, a job that was supposed to take a week ended up taking a month. This dude has lost my business and all of the referrals that come with it. Take your money to a reputable business and avoid this kind of tomfoolery. read more

I just had to take a second to express my feeling about My Crazy Machine. I have been dealing with this company for several years now, minor things mainly: hard drive replacement, memory upgrade and the like. In most cases, had I done enough research on the net, I'm pretty sure I would have been able to figure it out for myself. Sometimes, though, it's easier to pay someone that knows more than you to get the job done quickly. I have always had good luck with these folks, but I don't believe I had really challenged them with anything major. That was about to change... Recently, I experienced a massive failure of my Seagate wireless hard drive such that I was no longer able to connect it to my home network. There was also a grinding, hissing noise as it powered up. I have had this device for many years and I had experienced problems with it before, but I had always been able to get it back online to access my data. Not this time. Thinking it would be something simple, or something that I had overlooked in the past, I called the manufacturer's customer service line and described the problem. I could hear the fear in the rep's voice as they immediately handed me off to the DATA RECOVERY GROUP. I panicked. I know two things about data recovery: very pricey and sometimes, not 100%. I didn't really understand how much trouble I was in until I hung up the phone. I received a four figure quote "just to look at it and perform a diagnostic". It's at this point I have to tell you that I had over 700GB at risk: music, videos, pictures, important documents that go back a decade and so forth. All irreplaceable to me. So after hearing that ungodly number, I called My Crazy Machine, just to see if they might be of some help. I had low expectations, given that the maker of the drive couldn't help, but why not give it a shot? Fast forward one week: all 700GB was recovered and placed on a hard wired 1TB drive that I had provided. Everything was there, in all of the folders I had organized. And the cost to provide this service was a fraction of what the other folks quoted. I was ecstatic! The service I received, the pricing, being made no promises, but kept in the loop every step of the way: my anxieties were eased and the final result was everything I could ask for. I highly recommend My Crazy Machine for its data recovery services, as well as any other IT service you need. I have another machine that will make its way over there for more data recovery, this time from an old Dell desktop machine as well as a coworker's who needs photos of loved ones removed from a 12 year old Apple laptop. I'm sure neither will pose a problem for these pros. read more

Bram went above and beyond to help me; my stupid dell laptop stopped charging 3 DAYS before a huge out of state conference. Not only did he overnight the part, he also lent me his Dell adapter since apparently Best Buy's universal ones can destroy the connection. I also had a broken LCD and he showed me exactly which one to get on ebay to replace it, without me even asking. AND he got it all done within 36 hours! I've never done a review before but after the great experience I had with My Crazy Machine I felt obligated to. My Chromebook's hard drive was shot and every place I took it too charged more than the thing was worth. I was ready to give up until I found these guys on here. If you have a computer issue, these are your guys. I brought my slow laptop in, that was cheap to begin with a few years ago, and was hoping they'd just need to do a little magic on it. Bram wiped it clean to make sure there weren't any viruses, and i thought we were going to be good to go. He called me to tell me that actually my hard drive was near death (so glad we avoided a total crash!) and so he replaced that and added a ton more storage. Basically, he gave me back a brand new laptop (in two days) that works as good (if not better) than the day I bought it. And what he charged me was ABSURDLY low, which I greatly appreciate since I don't have much to spend on anything "extra" at the moment. I spilled a splash of coffee on my closed Macbook Air a few days ago and it managed to trickle down into the laptop. I was really surprised when the screen went black and the laptop refused to start up or even show a charge when plugged in. I work from home full-time and take online classes so the laptop is basically my livelihood. After a day and a half of panicking and getting quotes from Geek Squad and looking at forums to do the upside down laptop dance with the fan blowing on it, I did a search on Google and found the great reviews on Yelp for My Crazy Machine. Rob gave me a quote that was very reasonable and although he told me it would be ready in 2-3 days, he had it done the very next day! I'm typing on the laptop now and it's good as new, maybe even better. He even gave me some tips on how to get the weird virus type issue I have on Safari dealt with.
