I have an HP desktop that is about 5yrs old now & it has had it's fair share of issues over the years. I've never needed to actually have it serviced until recently. I found out about MyCrazyMachine online & after reading the other reviews on them, I decided to go with them. In a panicked, graduate student frenzy, I called the store at 6pm because my laptop was on the fritz and they arrived within the hour to discuss the problem in person and pick it up. Bram took a look and let me know I had a bad motherboard / graphics card. Hard drive AOK. He gave me options to resurrect my laptop from the dead. Huzzahs to anyone who doesn't break out in a cold, panicky sweat when their laptop goes crazy but that ain't me and I was schvitzing big time when Windows told me that, despite up-to-date security software, a malware invader had gone gonzo on my electronic lifeline. The service I've used in the past is closed on Saturday so I Googled other options in the area and My Crazy Machine (I totally get why he didn't name the business My Effing Machine although while I've never called the computer crazy, I have used the eff word a few times) came up. Reviews seemed strong, it was close and desperation was setting in so I made the call. Rob seemed nice/professional on the phone and soon enough I was ringing the doorbell. I won't go into deets about the specifics but here's what matters: Rob is terrific, the problem was quickly handled and the price was right. My laptop has quite a few years under its belt and it's not a matter of if but when I'll again need help; this is absolutely the first number I'll dial. I've always said, only half jokingly, that the best part of working for a company (versus self employment) is I.T. support, that team of geeky saviors who are at the ready to solve problems. (sweet) Second, Rob was able to diagnose and relay to me the issue with my computer (hard drive crashed) and describe to me how to go about fixing it. Very honest up front with the fact that even if he repairs my hard drive chip the data might not be able to be recovered... Longer story short... He was very helpful, very honest and prompt. Rob was super helpful in fixing my DC jack on my laptop. I emailed him through the website, he told me two prices depending on whether he could fix the jack or if he'd have to replace it. Just to be safe, he ordered a few jacks just in case before I ever dropped it off. He does work out of his home, and both times I went there were other people standing outside his front door, which was kind of funny. But if that means he doesn't have to charge extra to cover the office overhead, that's great. His website is great and you can pay through it using paypal/credit card. It's great. My MacBook Pro hard drive failed and despite my efforts to fix it myself, it just didn't work for many reasons. I didn't want them to fix it at an Apple Store because they wanted to take my old drive after replacing it, and I wanted to keep it to send it to a data recovery place. I frantically searched for a repair shop after best buy said it would take them three weeks to send my mac out to be serviced, which I did not have time for. So I found this place through yelp right around the corner from my house. My Mac was fixed and running beautifully in just a few hours at a reasonable price. I highly recommend using this guy! These guys were really great. For what I would consider an amazingly reasonable price they diagnosed a hard drive problem with my laptop free of charge, then not only fixed the problem with a newer, faster hard drive, but also installed an upgraded operating system and ant-virus software, optimized the system, and even cleaned the shell and keyboard (without being asked or charging me). To top it off, they delivered the laptop directly to my door (at no additional charge) and answered several follow-up questions via text message, getting back to me almost immediately after each text. Read other great reviews on Yelp! and went to My Crazy Machine for help restoring my 6-year-old laptop to its former glory. After my computer refused to turn on beyond the "blue screen of death," I let in languish for several months and used my work computer as an alternative. But I really didn't want to lose all my pictures and other files and finally decided to see if My Crazy Machine could fix the computer and save my files. I have a 6 year old Macbook. There's no way I can afford another one at this time, so the first time it broke about 4 months ago, I brought it to Apple. They said they "fixed" it and I had to pay a ridiculous price. Just a few days ago, it started acting up again and completely crashed. I spoke with someone at Apple again and their response is, "if it's broken again, then we just recommend buying a new computer." No way. Not gonna do it. So, I scoured Yelp, looking for a place with great reviews...Before I go any further, let me just say that My Crazy Machine should be at the top of this list... Everyone I spoke with offered fairly decent prices, but they began to add more costs to their original quoted price. I began to feel like a sprinter who could see the finish line, but couldn't make it to the end. The, like a ray of light guiding me to the promised land, I stumbled across My Crazy Machine. I called and I was brought a voicemail, asking me to list my tech problem, which I did. In a matter of minutes, I received a text, giving me an incredibly reasonable price. I spoke with Rob a few minutes after that. He told me to bring it to him and he'd have it done the next day (yes, the next day!). I handed my laptop over to Rob, who was extremely courteous and ready to take on the broken computer challenge. The next day, he let me know that my problem was a little more complicated than he had an anticipated, but instead of saying he had to charge me more, it was going to take longer; anything you never want to hear, he said it was going to fix it, same cost and everything, it would just take an extra day, which is completely understandable.
