Joel who is Mr. "My Computer" is a very bright guy and so very accommodating. If you need help he seems to always be available and makes time to prioritize your needs. I needed help. I brought my laptop in. He did troubleshooting same day. Then tried another way to fix it but it needed a more serious fix so I decided to get a new laptop and he was able to clone my old laptop same day with an exact match to my new one. I, especially after having seen that My Computer had a negative review, had to write about my really positive experience with them. I've dealt with My Computer on a couple of occasions. Last year, I (probably bc of my watching too much porn) got the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death) on my Compaq laptop. After asking my techie friends for advice, I finally, dejectedly accepted that I would have to bring it somewhere and pay to have it fixed. The guy who helped me at My Computer (Joel) did have to replace my hard drive, but was able to get it working for me, and even more, was able to save all my personal files, i.e. pictures, more importantly music, and most importantly Word files (I constantly write, fiction, short stories, poetry, etc). He then, of course, advised me to be sure to back up my files in the future (v. valuable advice, foolishly, regrettably, soon forgotten). The repair was done quickly, the guys at the shop were super courteous, definitely very knowledgeable and willing to dispense random advice, and best of all, the repair was even less than my buddy at work in the IT department had quoted me. Then last week, my laptop broke again, and this time it was most definitely my fault (I dropped it). I brought it down to My Computer with the hopes that they, having previously shown themselves to be miracle workers, might be able to save all my stuff again. Alas, this time it was not meant to be - they promptly let me know I had to get my hard drive replaced and that it didn't look like any of my files were salvageable. This repair was done super quickly (dropped off Friday, done Monday afternoon) and the price wasn't any more than I expected. When I picked it up, Joel told me that he had noticed that I still had my old hard drive in my laptop bag from my last repair (bc I'm a disorganized pack rat), and had a strike of inspiration in that he thought he might be able to save all my files from that hard drive. Once again, however, it was not meant to be, but just the fact that he took the time to try (and it was clear it had taken some time), despite already having told me it was hopeless, is a sure sign that this business cares about both its customers and the service they provide. The final clincher in ensuring that I need never find another computer repair shop, happened today when I called to ask about a few things I had noticed being different about my laptop since I got it back. Firstly, I noticed that my battery was no longer taking a charge. After apologizing for not having noticed the issue himself (because when working on laptops, they typically just plug them in and go), Joel explained that damage might have been caused to the battery when I dropped it (damn myself!), suggested places to purchase new batteries, warned me away from knockoffs on eBay, and gave me instructions on a few things I could do myself that might fix the problem. I also asked his advice regarding my middle mouse button (technically holding down both buttons on my particular laptop). I use the middle mouse button constantly to open new links as tabs in IE and since I got my laptop back, this feature was no longer working and it was driving me NUTS. After downloading Chrome and still encountering the problem there, I decided it must be a hardware issue. Joel explained that I may need an additional driver for my mouse, looked up my model and emailed me a link for a download that might fix the problem and said to call or email back to let him know whether or not that worked for me. This, to me, is just exemplary service. There was no incentive for Joel to help me over the phone, as I already had my computer back and had already paid, so it's clear that he helped me just because he's a good guy with great work ethic and because My Computer cares whether or not their customers are satisfied with the service they provide, even days after the computer has left their shop. So, although my mourning period for all my lost files continues unabated, I do feel better knowing that the guys I brought it to were invested in and committed to trying to give me the best service possible. I highly recommend My Computer both for the quality of their work, and for their customer service. I think the previous poster must have called the wrong number - I have never had anyone at the shop be anything but helpful and courteous. this guy is really excellent. He's helped several times with different machines and problems (replaced and recovered hard drives, replaced a back video card that was causing the machine to crash, upgraded memory). I extended the life of both laptops and desktops with his help. He's also saved me some money by talking me out of some upgrades that would not have been worth it. Awesome! My computer crashed on Sunday. Panic! First thing Monday tried calling a number of computer people. No one answered the phone. Finally called My Computer and Joel answered. Told me to bring it in and he would look at it. Dropped off at 11:30 and got a call back at 2:30. Happy no one else answered, could not have done better than I did. Also, really nice guy.
