I usually just go to the gas station or uhaul to get my propane. Those guys are usually never by the propane, and you have to wait for them to get their behinds over to the fill station. Well I got a brand new spanking 1G tank, and all the reviews talk about bringing it to someplace where they knew what they are doing. So I ruled out both the gas station and uhaul. Did a quick check on Yelp and I find these guys. Reviews were solid so I decided to roll over. When I showed them my tiny 1 gallon tank (versus the typical 5 gallon). They said "sorry, we can't fill that". I'm like why not? They said "they didn't have enough gas to fill that thing and the people behind me would be PISSED that I took all the gas!!" I started laughing, jokesters. All fun and good. They purged the new tank, filled it up, paid and left. Easy as pie, and fun guys too.. Will be back when my bigger 5 gallon tanks run out! read more

First visit: Jose, my newest BFF, sent me away after testing my tank and said: "No. Your tank is half full. You need to bring your BBQ valve so I can check for you as it is the problem. I don't want to charge you the $12.00 minimum purchase for half a tank of gas and the problem will still be there!" "Well, sell me an empty tank and the gas for it and for this half empty tank, then." "No. Our tank prices are expensive. You should go to Costco and buy the tank and come back. Bring the valve so I can test it for you." So I did and came back for the second visit on a Saturday. One full tank plus my partial tank cost me about $13 with Yelp check-in as opposed to over $20 for one almost empty tank at a retail dealer that I have been paying!!!! Jose tested my valve and showed me that the regulator was the problem. I came back for the third visit on a weekday when the office was open to deal with the valve. The man in the office was sending me away again stating that I can probably buy the valve and kit at Home Depot for less than what they would charge because they don't have the compatible parts and have to make me a whole new assembly that would cost over $50. Then the manager walked in and decided to discount the assembly to $35. Why? I don't know. May be he liked my story with Jose above? So instead of going to HD or possibly a BBQ store and spend half a day to do so and may be save a few bucks I decided to just buy a custom made assembly made by a professional using good parts. So yes, these guys are old fashion consummate professionals, honest, funny, take pride in their work and the company sell products at a large-volume price point to the public. There was a food truck getting their truck tank filled up when I was there. Service is fast and efficient. Just remember that they have contractor hours and are closed on Sundays and likely on big BBQ holidays like July 4th. read more

We are new RV owners and we're recommended to go to Mutual Propane because our LP tank was leaking. Jose looked at our tank and explained that who ever we bought the RV from overfilled the tank and that the overflow valve was letting propane out of the tank because it was so hot. He emptied some of the propane and explained what to do, if it continued to leak. I usually deal with a company closer to my house in LA but I've been having some issues with my tanks not working or filling properly. I called around and got blown off but everyone until I reached a guy named Bryan who answered the phone and said he was the manager. He was very patient with me and didn't try to just hang up. He answered all my questions and made me feel confident enough to make the drive down and take the chance. Probably the best place to refill your propane tanks. My BBQ propane tank ran out, so instead of buying a completely new tank, it is cheaper to refill and reuse my existing tank. And that's how I ended up at Mutual Propane. However, I would recommend that you get 2 tanks filled as it costs the roughly same one tank - it's just that I only had one tank to refill. Either way, it's still cheaper than getting a new tank. Maybe when I buy a new grill, I will keep my old tank and then have two. Their service is super fast, unless you're stuck behind a customer who is filling up propane for commercial purposes (which is still relatively fast). They accept credit cards as well as cash, so appreciate the flexibility in payments! read more

Need to fill your propane tank near Irvine. Welcome to mutual propane the only game in or near town. This place is located adjacent to the gas station. To get to where you fill your tank you will need to drive around the side of the building on the right and then pull up to an outdoor shed. There you wait for an attendant to help you fill your tanks. For some reason they charge different rates for the same product. The highest rate of course is to fill your portable tanks like those for a grill or heater. In my case it was $3.69. For vehicles it was $1.49. Doesn't make sense to me but like I said it's the only game in town. Attendant was friendly and courteous filled the tanks quickly but I'm not sure if it's different equipment or procedure, when I get refills elsewhere they vent the tank while filling to ensure that I get a full tank, which they didn't do here. They ask is accept credit and cash as well. read more

Literally right off of Edinger and 55. Just follow the arrows to the back, pull up to the tank and make sure you're careful your tanks are upright or they roll right out of your SUV. Luckily, I was given a quick heads up by the extremely friendly attendant, so I jumped back and saved my toes. I filled up both tanks and used the Yelp discount offered on Yelp. There was nothing mentioned of doing a Yelp review. I chose to because 6.7 gal. For $15.56 is a great price! Inexpensive elect , easy, and friendly service! I just moved into the area, Thanks Yelp and Mutual Propane for finding my "Go To" for propane. I haven't refilled propane tanks in awhile, but since summer is around the corner, I needed to prepare and fill up some propane tanks for the new BBQ grill I just put together. I've always passed by this location not knowing anything about it but Yelp reviews brought me to this location and I'd like to thank the Yelpers for their input. Filling empty propane tanks are simple and a breeze. Stopped by around lunch, one person in front of me filling up 4 tanks, not a problem...waited maybe 7 minutes in my car, pulled up, took my 2 tanks out and 5 min later finished. Walked in, had another person swipe my credit card and done. Both staff were very friendly and asked me how my day was going. Seems like they've been around for awhile with different locations...if you're in the office, check out the old school picture of their Glendale location next to a modern picture of the same location...I love photography and I thought that was pretty unique to have in their office. I'd definitely come back and don't forget Yelp check in for discount on propane. 2 filled 20lb tanks cost me less than $20. YMMV, but that's what was on my receipt. Jose is a great guy to deal with. Very personable. I was the third car in line with the two trucks in front of me with multiple tanks each and I was still out of here in about 15 minutes. Today's prices were $2.68 per gallon (before tax?). A barbecue tank holds about 5 gallons. Note: the sign does say minimum charge is $14 so that is pretty much a one completely empty barbecue tank. If you use Yelp to "check in," you can claim a $0.15/gallon discount. Open Saturdays 8-4, closed Sundays, and open at least Monday that I know of for sure. Good prices, good people... I'll be back. Reasons to go here: 1. customer service is great. They seem really appreciative of your business. 2. price is the lowest around, by far. 3. easy drive through to pump. Great for large RVs as well as pickups that are towing stuff. Have been driving past this place for over 10 years. Never stopped in because it looks like a wholesale operation from the street and sits all alone on Edinger at the 55 freeway. However, they will fill any container from a small barbeque size to the largest. There's a $12 minimum fee, which is half the minimum of the gas station I was using before. Yesterday, I towed my Fleetwood pop up trailer in and found the best place so far to fill up propane in Orange County. First, they have a driveway that wraps around the main building, so I didn't even have to remove the tanks from the front of my camper - or back the camper around in some small busy gas station like I have in the past. It cost me $18.13 to fill up two small bbq size tanks, which was about 40% less than that awful little gas station charges at Sand Canyon and the 5 freeway. You know, the one that makes you wait about 20 minutes for one of the guys to come out of the store, treat you like you're a problem, put on rubber gloves, pull out the screw driver and charge you over $4 per gallon. Mutual Propane was a great surprise. "Jose" filled my tanks and his customer service skills and knowledge are excellent. If you're in a hurry, tell him, because he's an interesting guy who likes people and can talk. I met "Mike" the manager, who rang up my credit card. Another great custom service experience. Growing up my family always did the "exchange" but after reading reviews it seems like owning your own tank and getting it filled is best as with the exchange you could be getting someone else's problems. So I went to Lowes and bought my own tank. Now... where to fill it?! I found this place on yelp (thank you fellow yelpers) I was a little nervous because being a girl I feel like places like this would try to take advantage. Not Mutual Propane!! I drove up, pulled out my tank. The gentleman kindly filled it, took me inside to pay and I was on my way. 5 minutes and $12 and change later... that was it. I was done! For years we have had mutual propane deliver to our Orange office....we are very low use. Mutual Propane is 5.8 miles from our office. I called Monday and the person answering the phone stated that our account was closed and he stated that he would look into it and call me back. Gee Wiz....he did not call me back!!! It's Friday now...I called him to find out that the account is closed and that upper management made a decision to not deliver to us because "it costs too much for delivery." I told him that I will pay for any reasonable added delivery fee. He stated that he could not help me because the account is closed. So when most people think of propane refill they think of a cranky uhaul kid annoyed that you wanna refill your tank. This place is not that, all they do is propane and they do it well. It seems like they mostly cater to businesses and big refills, but they were really helpful for me and my specialty bbq needs. So I wanted to get a special small propane tank to use for tailgating bbqs and these guys had it there. Also I wanted a special adapter tubing to replace those stupid green coleman canisters. These guys made me a custom length adapter tubing so I could use a refillable propane tank instead of those throwaway green canisters. I have used "Mutual Propane" (Tustin/Santa Ana) to fill my camper and BBQ tanks for years. I heard about them from our painter at work. He told me to ask for Jose, and that we get our Forklift tanks filled there; WOW Jose is and has always been courteous and VERY professional. I got in there last week at 7 AM when they opened and had one van in front of me with ten 10-20 gallon tanks (food truck fleet?). I thought I was going to be stuck there for an hour... Nope! Jose is a Propane filling MACHINE! Knocked out every one of them in ~ 1 minute each, never skipped a beat! Filled my three 4.5 gallon BBQ tanks in minutes and I was on my way!
