I stopped at the mobil station in Tustin on Red Hill to use the air. I went inside to make a purchase and then IT happened! I heard a friendly voice greeting me and welcoming me. At first I didn't realize the person was talking to me... as it isn't common for cashiers to interact with customers anymore. The man behind the counter was Samuel. Now im not one to write too many reviews, but in this case I had to. Samuel was young and educated, well spoken, made eye contact with me and was able to hold a conversation. Then he did something that really blew my mind. He volunteered to help me when I said I couldn't find the valve stem to put air in my tires. He promptly grabbed his keys and locked the door and came and helped me! That never happens anymore. People are generally not interested in customer service or your needs. My employee stopped at this gas station to get a water before going to her overnight shift as a caregiver. She locked herself out of her car and had her phone inside. The gas clerk inside (Julio) refused to let her use a phone to call someone for help. He told her that he would tow her car if she did not pick it up within the hour. My caregiver then walked 45 minutes to work and told me what happened. I drove down so I could call AAA to unlock her car and drive it back to her work. I went inside and let Julio know that I called AAA to pick up the vehicle. He told me to "hurry up" or he would tow it. When I asked why he was being so rude he picked up the phone infront of me and called the tow company even though I had already let him know AAA was in their way. I came here to get a quick refill on fuel. The price here was about $0.20/gallon higher than a different Mobil branch in Irvine, but I was somewhat low so I had to get some, at least. The credit card reader required inserting the card, not waving it. It was a little slower but I didn't like there being a lot of random people doing random things in the gas station like searching the trash cans for bottles, so it slowed my exit more. While I was able to refuel the vehicle I think the amount of open space made me feel like a prey animal with nowhere to hide and thus made me more nervous being there. read more

After getting crappy service from the U-Haul place next door when I needed propane, I switched to this Shell station a few years ago and got much better service. As of today, I will NEVER be going back. I went in, the clerk had NO mask. I asked for propane and asked that he wear one when doing so. Right after me, a guy without a mask went in. I put my tank back in the car and went next door. While waiting, the Shell guy came out. No mask. I told him that without a mask, he would not be getting my business. He shrugged and went back in. I don't mind paying full price for gas, when I see it posted. But when you start pumping gas, and see the meter running 10 to 15 cents higher per gallon than the posted price... To me that is bait and switch. I once got my SUV smogged there. It ended up costing more than the coupon, whick I also felt was a bait and switch. The station hasn't changed in 50 years. The office is small, they have a cooler with outdated drinks, and you have to ask for the key when you have to go potty. They mislead you on the gas prices (the prices they advertise are for cash payers only), they have a very small selection of items available for purchase in the store, and all the items inside are over-priced compared to the other gas stations. If you pay with cash and need change back, make sure you check your bills carefully. My husband filled our gas tank there yesterday. We paid with cash and got change back. Later that day, I went to sprouts and tried to pay cash with the change given to us from the Red Hill Mobil gas station and the cashier returned the 20 to me, telling me it was counterfeit! She showed me the difference in what it should look like, and I could see the difference. She was correct. Obviously I paid with another source, but, I was so disappointed that we had been given counterfeit money from the Gad station earlier that morning. My husband went back to the gas station with the fake bill and the attendant denied that it came from them. So, my husband went to the police station , filed a report and turned the fake bill to in to them. So, reminder, don't blindly trust this gas station. Check the bills when you get change back so you don't get fake money back from them. read more

I am not sure if all these other reviews got their car smogged where I did at the Mobil station on the corner of Redhill/El Camino Real, but I had a great experience. I stopped on my way to work just to inquire about the cost and time it would take, and they did it right then and there in 15 minutes, and took my coupon I had got on their web sight with no issues at all. My 97 Dodge Ram with 216,000 miles passed with no issues. They(the smog shop) did start to get busy as they were finishing me up, so I I guess my timing was good as I did not have to wait at all. Cost was $54 including the state smog cert and I was charged for the truck price (larger vehicle) which I expected. I don't buy my gas there, so I cannot really attest to what the rest of the station in like, but I can say I live right down the street and they are always busy when I pass by! So they must be doing something right, so don't listen to all the haters here that like to whine about stupid little things like a window squeegee not being up to their standards. Saw their ad in the pennysaver for a $10 smog test, thought it was too good to be true but decided to give them a try. Called at 7:30am, lady answered and said no appointment necessary just come after 8am. I decided to avoid the opening rush and showed up around 11am. No other cars around so I pulled up to the smog test garage and was helped by an asian dude. He sees me and said something like 3pm or 4:30pm. I was like "what did you say?" He said my machine is slow (connection to DMV?) so come back at 4:30pm.. Hmmmm.. I did notice he was holding lotus leaf wrap rice thing in his hand.. maybe I interrupted his lunch? He then said it will be $36 for my car due to OBDII. That was a big difference then what they advertised. The coupon said $9.99 plus $8.25 certificate and $3 transfer fee for a price of $21. Granted they say on the bottom of the coupon extra fees for OBDII, but an extra $15?!! I love how their ad even says in big bold letters "No Gimmicks!". Looking back I don't know if they guy just wanted to brush me off because of his lunch but if that's true he could've told me to come back in an hour. But when a fishy looking guy holding a lotus leaf wrap rice thing is telling you come back in 5 hours and that the charge will be more then advertised.. alot of alarms start going off.. I instead went to Purrfect Auto on Edinger and got it done in 30 minutes for $38 out the door. read more

I got my car smog tested and paid $56 total, It was the standard price with no coupon.The testing person gave me a $20 off coupon for my next smog test. I took my other car in 3 months later for the smog test, gave the same fellow the $20 off coupon, but he charged me $50 total instead of $36. He said I was suppose to have paid $68 for the first smog test. That was just a lie. I don't know any station in my area that charges $68. These smog test stations are just out to get what they can and lie if they have to. read more
