After charging me $6,000 over the estimate to rewire the kitchen this is what I found. The rewire only somethings and connected new wire to old 30 year old wire. I have picture. As I am do another remodel in the bathrooms the electrician found that only about 1/2 the kitchen was rewired and done poorly, boxes not covered and not secured. Never work with them again. That was just the problems with the wiring. read more

The only positive part of my experience with Musk Construction was working with Anthony, the project manager. He genuinely cared and consistently pushed the project forward. Without him, I'm not convinced my very expensive kitchen remodel would have been completed at all. Unfortunately, the rest of the team showed little interest or accountability. Now that Anthony has left the company, there is no one I trust to follow up on the work--even though they advertise a one-year warranty. In practice, there's no reliable point of contact. Despite the size and cost of my project, the owner, Steve, never met with me--not even once--when serious issues came up. The work quality was mediocre at best, and the overall attitude from the team suggested they were simply not invested in delivering a good outcome. I'm still in touch with Anthony, who continues to help me even though he no longer works there, which says a lot. I strongly recommend reconsidering before hiring this company. I contracted with MUSK to complete a bathroom and kitchen remodel project in preparation for selling my house. The initial consultation was smooth and I liked the details provided. We moved forward and the design process was easy, even with a little bit on confusion on available options. Once started, both the bathroom and kitchen project were completed ahead of schedule (helped by the fact I was not living at the house and allowing the MUSK team to work late and on weekends). I appreciated that they put in the extra hours to complete it quickly. The projects were completed to satisfaction and as planned. Having priced the project with other general contractors, MUSK came in below average for project cost. They did a good job of staying within the budget and communicating when issues were discovered that required adjustments. Edit: after posting here, they sent two guys to debug the issue. They spent all day, and claim to have fixed the leak. The next day, someone came to patch the ceiling they cut and paint over it. I'm optimistic that it's fixed, but we won't know for sure until the rain season returns. I'm updating to 4 stars because they take responsibility, even though the initial plumber was incompetent. Problem after problem, dodging responsibility. There were so many problems with our remodel from 2022 that are still not fixed yet. Instead of exhaustively listing everything that went wrong, I'll just highlight one example: The vent leaks onto the floor below when it's raining, causing toxic mold. When I brought up the issue initially, they couldn't figure out why it was happening, but just patched up the drywall. Obviously, that didn't fix the issue so that when it rained again, it started to rot again. I've been trying to reach them to get it fixed, and it's been such a waste of time. I hired Musk construction to remodel my bathroom. I was really impressed by their team and final product delivered. The turn key solution of labor and materials worked best for me as I am a busy professional and I don't have time to shop around for materials. The whole process of getting the measurement, 3-d model of your bathroom along with choosing color combination was seamless. Once the design phase was completed, the demolition and installation process took 4 weeks which seems pretty okay. I wish things could have been faster here but the final product was amazing. Moved into my place last year and my bathrooms were old and unsafe. Found 4 potential options and did some research/bidding. I went with MUSK for the following reasons: - Low input from me. MUSK covers everything from measurements, design, demolition, sourcing/scheduling materials, installation to city permit clearing. - Team assigned with periodic updates. - Pretty good design packages and options, with some flexibilities to change I went with their design package to redo my bathrooms and also put in the backsplash in my kitchen. Here are my thoughts: - The Team work REALLY HARD. They put in extra hours over the weekend and some long evenings during the weekdays - They try their best to keep up with the timeline. There were a couple of delays during the project (one shower door was broken by accident - they cleaned it up but need to reorder, which took a week to arrive) - They also scheduled timely city inspections to eliminate unnecessary surprises - Similar to most of the contractors, they don't always show up on time (or occasionally, no show). - There were a couple of issues that I complained about and they sent me some wines after. They are overall fair. - You do need to let them know issues that really bother you. e.g. One shower glass door was installed upside down (logo was clearly seen) and I need to persuade them to fix it for a couple of times. - Their project coordinator is not the person who decides on the timeline. If there are last minute changes made by the project manager, you are not always notified or will be misinformed. - I do trust them with my house (my team were good overall). I sometimes would leave them alone working on the project. Overall, the project went very well. Within two months, my bathrooms were done and cleared with the city. The team were professional. They are not the cheapest option out there but they take care of everything. If you are busy and don't have time, they provide you with an all-in solution. I appreciated the attention to details and overall handiwork. They completed the project in a timely manner (about 7 weeks from beginning demolition to final inspection). My only feedback would be that many of the requirements I communicated during the sales process were not documented and recorded into the sales contract requiring several change orders to get all the features we wanted. In response to your response, you make it seem like we did not want our bathroom remodeled. We really do. You talk about how long it took for us to question the size of the tiles. We did not notice the size in the pictures until we saw the list of items to be used on the project. That is when we questioned the tile size. We looked back at the pictures at the point and noticed it was not one slab but small tiles. It was not anything where we had a motive to mess with your company. You tell how we did not respond to the offers to discuss the situation with Anthony and Dan, but we had been repeatedly lied to, why would we want to talk more, to hear more lies? We felt we could no longer trust you guys. You talk about a company policy we tried to break. That was the repayment of our fee. We had told Anthony we could only trust him if it was refunded so we were on even ground. We were looking for something to tell us you were serious about us. We noticed on the Yelp reviews that one review from Bernie L said he increased his rating because his fee was refunded. It seems strange that you are so concerned about the refund policy but you do not seem to have a policy about lying to your customers. It seems sad how you could question our integrity when your employee showed no integrity in dealing with us. I am not sure why you want to blame us. Steve had done a tremendous work on my townhome. He and his company completely remodeled the kitchen and 3 bathrooms, did new flooring throughout the entire house, painted, and did more fixes here and there. Steve was always on time when we would meet, and he was in constant communication with me. He met me at the store to help out to select some materials. Remodeled 3 bathrooms with Musk Construction during May & June of 2021. From the first call, could immediately tell that Tony, Vladi, and Steve were polite, professional, and would be reachable throughout our entire project. This, plus the competitive pricing, helped us feel good about going with Musk. We did receive cheaper quotes elsewhere, but the professionalism & customer service did not compare with Musk's. For our master bathroom, Steve & his team built an entire wall and installed a barn door where there used to be empty space. For two other guest bathrooms, they installed new vanities and hardware. We provided our own refinishing materials. The team worked very fast, and was receptive to our ideas. Unfortunately, one of our vanity deliveries was delayed by 2 weeks. This ended up delaying the completion of our remodeling by almost a month. Communication got trickier during that time, as we'd be told that a worker would be onsite but then they'd never show up. If you're providing your own materials, I'd definitely recommend getting those delivery timelines absolutely confirmed. Thankfully, the delay wasn't too bad. In the end, Musk addressed & fixed every issue that they could. In the design stage we were offered a 3D bathroom rendering. They made changes to the model until we were satisfied. We particularly liked the fact they we were given a quote that included absolutely everything - all labor and ALL materials. Throughout the entire project their customer service was excellent. Since we had already burnt our fingers once with a very unprofessional contractor, we were very careful while picking another one. I got in touch with US Handyman through yelp. From beginning to end, they have been extremely professional and courteous. I got the quote quickly after Steve visited and checked out our project. We wanted to take down the wall between living room and dining area. This included: 1. Taking down the wall 2. Moving a light switch to a different wall 3. Adding a new frame to the wall 4. Patching up the floor. 5. Reinforcing the roof support from the wall that was taken down Steve's rates were really competitive and he is a very honest, reliable person. We scheduled a date for the project and he arrived with his team on time. They were extremely clean and professional throughout the project. Patrick also worked for one full day and he is a perfectionist. They genuinely care for the project and ask for feedback wherever necessary. Some of our flooring part was going to arrive a little later, they were happy to schedule an appointment later and then promptly finished the entire project. Do not fall for this company's marketing and their 4/5 star reviews. Well, because we did. Their sales team (Vladi and Tony) make big commitments and promises to get you to sign the contract, however, the construction crew and Steve (owner) unfortunately cannot deliver on those commitments or stand behind the quality or warranty they promise in the contract. We did a good sized kitchen remodel project with them last year and faced many issues. In fact, we have currently filed a complaint with CLBS after making numerous and unsuccessful attempts with Steve (owner) to reach a fair resolution. The biggest and most unpleasant experience for us has been with our flooring. In less than 2 weeks after we started the project (kitchen demolition was done), Musk wanted to do a change order to remove the installation services for our staircase flooring and kitchen countertop. The delivery lead (Eugene) said their people didn't have the skills to do this work and sales should not have committed to these services. We agreed to that given the project was already in progress and thinking they were at least being honest - Naively, we missed the warning sign here that they didn't have the competency to do any flooring work at all. Before the floor was installed, I asked the contractor and workers multiple times about preparing and leveling the subfloor per manufacturer's guidelines (based on a friend's experience) and they kept assuring us that it won't be necessary for our floor type and they have done all the necessary cleaning. Unsurprisingly, post installation (and to date) the floor was crackling and moving in many places and when we pointed this during walk-through we were assured by Musk that the noise is temporary and will go away once we placed our furniture on top. The flooring was also installed with a bad divider between rooms with a sharp edge that is super unsafe for children. 3 months after the project (after full payment) things got worse with crackling and loose boards, we contacted Musk and asked them honor their warranty and fix our flooring. Steve kept arguing there was nothing wrong with installation, while we maintained that his team did not follow manufacturer's guidelines and level the subfloor properly for a floating floor installation which was clearly the root cause. When we asked Steve to do the right thing and re-install our flooring properly OR refund us the cost and refused to do either and offered to fix a few planks if needed for additional cost. We are now stuck with a flooring we hate, for which we paid over $12/sqft for installation to Musk and our only respite is to take this CLBS and Small claims court :( Fwiw, they did well on the rest of the job - kitchen cabinet install and backsplash. However this flooring thing has left a bad taste for us. We wish we had checked references, but will happily be one for anyone who wants to avoid falling into a similar situation again. read more
