We stopped by while in town visiting Murphy's, Ca. We ordered a round of beers for our group. There was a guy playing music and was an excellent one man band. Patrons were friendly and we had danced a few songs. Three of us ladies went to use restroom and we always go in a pack...that's just what us girls do in our group wherever we are. One friend gets high anxiety visiting a restroom she's never been in. I was in restroom first and then the other two had followed. A tall lady with tats came from back and stopped one of my friends and said only one at a time. When the female employee walked away, my friend knocked on door and I let her in. All of the sudden someone starts banging on door and the whole bathroom shook from her banging so hard on the door. I talked through the door saying, yeah, just a minute." This hard banging happened two more times with me replying the same thing and no one ever said a word on the other side, just kept banging. We took all but 7-8 minutes in this one toilet bathroom. So - to start off, I adore Murphys. I think it's the prime spot for a little getaway or just a nice night on the town. That being said... the Irish pub has become the place I want to go to.. always. With the new management takeover at the end of February this year... I can't tell you how much my view has changed. Brandy (the new owner) and her girls (Misty and Lexi to name a few) are the most hospitable people around leaving you feeling so well taken care of that it's an experience you want to have over and over. They have been introducing new specials - like Irish nachos.. ridiculously amazing - as well as having fun with different beer concoctions (last week they did a pb&j beer (belching beaver peanut butter stout and indigent blackberry) - not something I would have thought of but something that literally blew my mind.) If you're ever in Murphys, you have to stop by and try their Reuben or chicken panini and end your meal with their dessert - Nutella panini with home made cinnamon sugar whipped cream.. if I'm not mistaken! The management at this restaurant is amazing! I am a vegan, and we came in to make a reservation and to ask if they had any vegan options, and unfortunately they didn't. The manager, however, went back to the kitchen and asked the chef what he could do, and he made a variation on their vegetarian pot pie that was TO DIE FOR. Often times, to accommodate vegans, restaurants offer pretty boring options, but the Murphys Hotel went above and beyond. 10/10 would recommend. And come back! read more

Went to this place on a friday night and was excited for the live music. The bar was really crowded which seemed like a good sign. My friends and I ordered beers and I asked my husband to get me a Founder's which is normally a stout. When he handed it to me and it turned out to be a cider, I was very disappointed. He went back to the bartender and explained that I accidentally ordered the wrong drink and wanted to trade it for something I would enjoy. The bartender was extremely rude and told him that we were stuck with what I ordered and if I wanted a stout I would have to pay extra for it. I've never had a bartender be so unwilling to make their customer happy. read more

It is flat out amazing what this pub can turn out with such a tiny kitchen. Great cottage pie (beef not lamb) and the pretzels are always a hit with my son. Magners on tap is always a plus. This review is for the drinks. We went July 27, 2016. They play great music, but not so loud that we had to yell. Service was great. Our server was friendly and answered our questions. He didn't ask us if we wanted a menu, which was fine. We tried Guinness Nitro IPA for the first time on tap. One word: smooth. I loved it! Hubby wished he had gotten a stout instead :p We asked to sample the hard cider on tap. Awesome! He poured us a generous sample, so I had to grab a pint. Like the beer, the cider was nice and cold. It was perfect. Indigeny Hard Cider, yum. Sweet and tasty. It hit me later. Server warned me it's dangerous. He also told us it was made locally in Sonora, CA and most stores in area carried it. We made sure to grab a few 6 packs before leaving town. Can't find it in our area. read more

Limited menu, hoping to see some home cooked Corned Beef and cabbage and Reuben sandwiches, perhaps a lamb stew. Good service was by Jessica, the owner. She was busy keeping tables covered and pouring beers. Food was good - not great. Split the Shepherds Pie and Bangers and Mash. Both had onions which wasn't specified on menu - patrons need to know what is in their food in case of allergies. First week open learning curve. We will be returning. 1st time hanging in Murphys (driven thru a dozen times.) The short but to the point menu got our attention. I'm sometimes turned off by the super long menus. The result was pretty amazing. Ordered were the 1) bangers & mash, 2) shepherd's pie, and 3) mac & cheese topped with bacon jam. All three were on point. The four-cheese blend made the m&c awesome. The bacon jam (blended with brown sugar) was a savory bonus. Gravy and bangers tasted fantastic. The mash could've been a little more moist...perhaps that's just my preference. Shepherd's pie was delicious, thankfully, because it's not as large as some. Would've easily been 5 stars but they were out of root beer AND coke. Normally not a big deal but they advertise root beer floats AND coke floats on their menu. One in our group specifically targeted this spot for that reason. Service was attentive and fast. Didn't wait long for food. Beer selection didn't knock our socks off but some decent choices there (Guinness nitro ipa, Smithwicks brown, et al.) Environment was very cool & clean. Almost ate outside at one of their four outdoor tables but it was just too damn hot. Live band was setting up...wouldn't mind catching some tunes next time. Will def return! read more
