This place has got beads and beads and beads and beads..........and quite a bit of other craft stuff too. I stopped here to get some beads and really didn't have time to explore as much as I wanted (my husband was in the car), but I plan to really check it out some time in the near future. This store is not particularly customer friendly and they do not stand behind their products. I bought beads to string, specifically asked if it would fit an 8mm stretch cord and was told absolutely yes. Not only does the hole not fit an 8 mm cord or a 7 mm cord, it turns out the hole fits a 5 mm cord! I didn't have my receipt and was told without the receipt they couldn't do anything. I bought these beads 3 days ago; unfortunately the woman who assured me of the 8 mm size hole wasn't there today. The attitude of the people who work there is very poor and this is the second time I've purchased beads that were "hit and miss" regarding the hole size when the beads were all the same size. I think their beads are an inferior quality and they don't seem to care. If you want a great bead store where I've never had a problem, and if I did, was treated with respect and the problem was always corrected, go to Suns Crystal and Bead Supply on Woodward Avenue. I have shopped here many times. Every time I shop the ladies who work there are rude, always feel like I'm bothering them with a question, just not a good atmosphere at all. I worked retail for over 35 years I understand the ups and downs of service however, every time they are rude. I will not be going back for anything. The most unfriendly people I have ever met. They've been like that for years. Every time I go, I always say I will not go back. They make you feel like you're bothering them and so unwelcome. On top of that, the store looks shabby and un kept. Lots of damaged products. Much better and friendlier places out there. read more

Ouch...I can't attest to the service personally but I did notice security cameras in almost every aisle. That said, the 4 stars is for the shear amount of crafty merch. I went in with my mom for a necklace repair and the place was mobbed with customers surrounding the counter and all the sales women were busy helping those that were ahead of us. My mom waited patiently and was helped by a nice lady who fixed my mom's necklace herself. I was left just walking around the store and realized that they have a ton of really interesting craft supplies shelved from ceiling to floor. Feather boas, beads everywhere, ribbons, wire, clay materials, unfinished cigar type boxes, etc., etc., etc., I thought it was pretty cool and if I had a project and needed some creative supplies this is where I'd stop along the way. They had alot of how-to manuals for jewelry making and the like too. read more

This is a good, we'll stocked craft store that is packed with items and supplies. That is its strength and it's weakness. All that stuff is very disorganized and it looks as if nobody ever tidy the shelves. it's organized insofar as things are in the proper sections but sometimes it's like it's been rummaged through 7 or 8 times and never been put back how it should be. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they do have a wide selection of whatever you may need. Just be prepared to hunt for what you're looking for. read more

Both times that we've been in this store, it's been staffed by rude and obnoxious people. Some of the unfriendliest people I've ever met. A nice selection of beads, but when my daughter spent 20 minutes picking out a set from the random bead pile, they accused her of lying and finding the beads elsewhere in the store. Oh Munro...I have SUCH a love/hate relationship with you. So much so that I've got to break it down. Selection: Four stars, because holy CRAP this place is like a rabbit warren of crafty stuff! Shelf after shelf, piled floor-to-ceiling of everything you can possibly imagine! You wander through one room only to find there's ANOTHER room equally as jam-packed! Even though this makes it a bit complicated if you're looking for something in particular, if you don't mind just exploring, you'll find stuff you didn't realize you want/need! Prices: Three stars, some things I've bought (especially in bulk) was a pretty decent price. Other things are ridiculously overpriced (and have a thin layer of dust to prove it). Staff: Two stars...I'm lucky enough to have never gotten any really nasty ill-treatment, but these women act like their faces would shatter if one lip even twitched upward. Yes, I understand they're busy (they're ALWAYS busy, no matter what time of day I go), yes I understand some of the customers are unbelievably rude and bitchy, but DAMN! Today was the friendliest I've been treated...and by that I mean the sales lady told me to have a nice day. No smile. Atmosphere: One star. I'd give it zero stars if I could. From the moment you walk into the vestibule, you're confronted with a column of signs that say things like YOU ARE ON VIDEO! WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO INSPECT ALL PACKAGES! SHOPLIFTERS WILL BE PROSECUTED! SEEN THIS WOMAN? SHE'S A THIEF! etc. Inside behind the counter, they have actual surveillance photographs and the full names of people who have either been caught shoplifting or written a bad check. This stuff LITERALLY covers the entire wall! I've never intentionally or accidentally stolen a thing in my life, but just SEEING all that made me nervous, to the point that I was afraid to reach into my purse when my phone rang, in case they accused me of slipping something in there! I understand with any store that sells little palmable items, that they have to be vigilant about shoplifters...but I have NEVER seen another store that takes it to that extreme! Very unwelcoming! In conclusion, I will definitely still keep going to Munro, I LOVE the selection they have. I just try to keep my hands (and merchandise) in full-view at all times, get what I need, and then skedaddle! read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars, but that's not possible. This place is a mess of disorganization, which I was willing to overlook until the point at which the staff person was so cranky and unhelpful that I put down a pile of beads (which took me 40 minutes to find in that mess) and walked out. I normally shop online as a last resort, but in this case it will be necessary. Ugh. What a disappointment! The store was not busy when I visited, and none of the five people behind the counter could be bothered to take my money. Kiss my ass. read more

I love going to this store. My aunt lives right across the street from it and my cousin goes there all the time. Sometimes when i come over we go and they get so much of their craft supplies there. Last time i went i got some crystals, (rose quartz, fluorite, black obsidian, and a crystal point,) for amazing prices and my cousins got some wood boxes to paint. They always love what they get and it makes them so happy :) The prices are great and the people there are so kind! read more

This is a wonderful store. The staff are knowlegable and very helpful. They know their stuff, for sure!!! Also, I inadvertantly left my phone by the counter when I finished paying for my purchase. Unhelpful, unorganized, and general poor customer service. The prices here are really steep - I think I'll stick with waiting 3 weeks for my beading supplies to come direct from China at wholesale cost. No one is available to help answer questions or locate products, and when I finally did get someone's attention (a woman who I assumed worked there only after seeing her step behind the counter, she was wearing sunglasses, hence my confusion), she was really disinterested in helping me locate was I was looking for. I'm honestly not sure why I keep shopping here. There are some cool quirks like vintage macrame books and random craft materials like tiny mirrors. It's worth checking out once or twice. If you want to support a local business over big box stores- that's another incentive. However, family owned also means "we're at home with our family so who needs masks?". The staff consistently has their masks off or pulled completely down. Pandemic aside- the biggest thing to watch out for is how cheap and horribly made all of their bulk jewelry/craft supplies is. They have a policy that you can't return it once its opened (and the Karen behind the counter is very passionate about this). So when you bring the product home and open it to find that it's dysfunctional junk- you are SOL. Honestly this place is convenient in a pinch if you don't mind settling. But I have been progressively more disappointed with my purchases so I will happily wait a week or two to get a delivery from a more reputable distributor. Happy crafting friends! read more

The store is large and the list of items available was endless. I went for rhinestones on several occasions and a few times they were out of the colors I needed. On every visit I felt like they did not care if I was there, or if I made a purchase, and my questions seemed annoying to them. If I needed no help at all I would have ordered from the internet and saved myself from feeling dejected when I left. I have since found another local store and will spend my time and money and leaving feeling much better. Munro crafts comes highly recommended for any small crafting businesses out there especially if you use a lot of Polymer clay. The absolute best prices around if you take advantage of the 50% off discount when purchasing $200 or more. Staff over the phone has always been very helpful and knowledgable about their products which I have not found to be the case in you chain hobby stores or really any specialized chain stores frankly. My items always come with speedy shipping and they are always very diligent in shipping my items for as cheap as possible. read more

This place is bead nirvana. You can get hundreds of different Swarovski crystals. The bead selection is almost overwhelming. For folks that use seed beads: Munro has a poor selection of seed beads. They mostly have Chinese, but they do have some nice Czech ones. They have Japanese delicas, but no rocailles. This is the place to go for jewelry findings. No store in the area even comes close to Munro's selection. Staff: The staff must have turned over since all the prior reviews. They are super helpful. It's literally a family-owned store. You can hear, "Grandma, how much are the earring backs?, being called out. Adds a nice touch. The only reason I docked a star is because of the return policy. You basically can't return anything, so choose wisely. read more

I have been looking for a place where I could buy some bulk wood at great prices for awhile now. This time I must have just typed in the right keywords into google because this site came up. I was impressed with their prices! So I ordered what I needed. Processing and shipping time was super fast. My order even arrived 3 days before the estimated delivery time. I was ready to place a second order and emailed them to see if I could get a shipping estimate prior to placing an order. Jessica responded extremely quickly and was happy to assist. Excellent place to find everything you need for beading, crafts and more. It's like Michaels but on mega steroids and better prices. The friendliness of the staff is hit or miss, thus the four stars. Love this place, been coming here for about 18 years. More upscale craft items that just about anywhere else. I watch the bead sales for my niece, and then scoop up the deals. They lose a star only for having no discernible method of taking "the next customer." I haven't had the bad experiences with staff that some have had. I will say that it can be a challenge to find someone on the sales floor to help you find something, because so many of their staff are stuck behind the counter helping customers put beading selections together (which shows a skill level, I guess). Also, I have no problem going up to their office to ask for help either. And maybe it's different for a guy. Anyway, I go back again and again. read more

So my son has a school project. I took him here to try to support local business and figured Id get the proper help I needed. Im wandering around the store looking clueless, since I dont craft. Minutes go by as I wander the vast selection of stuff. I was there about 20 mins and not once did one of the four employees ask if I needed help. I could have asked, but I shouldnt have to. I ended up getting crap on my own, at least some of what I thought I needed. Its got lots of beads and assorted artsy fartsy stuff though. Plus it was a half hour before closing. Then a worker yelled "its 4 we are closed bring up your items to pay for them" im like umm ok. Why would you rush customers that have been in the store and are spending money?? I've been a customer for about 10 years. I love the personal attention from the staff. Nice newly renovated website easy to use.

This store has a great selection of everything you can imagine to use in crafts and jewelry making. Their prices are mid-range to high. But I've been mistreated sooo many times that i will not ever go back. The staff of about 13 women is so surly, that whatever happiness you had going in will be sucked out of you by the time you leave. They have unclear signs all over the place stating their policies and saying "ask if you have a question" but when you do, you are treated as if you are accusing them of swindling you no matter how non-threatening you phrase it. I have been to this store about 10 times and often spend in the hundreds; since I don't live in Michigan, I like to stock up when I go. I used to brush it off since I visit thrice a year, then I thought it was me, perhaps I was the one who wasn't nice enough but now, I'm certain they are the ones with the attitude problems. Trust me, the experience is not worth all the condescension they manage to store in their short squat bodies and spew out at will. read more

I have been a loyal Munro customer for several years now and after what just happened to me I can say I am ending that loyalty right now. I have accepted that the staff is not always so friendly. The stores atmosphere is not welcoming or friendly at all, but then again, it hasn't been in sometime now. There are video cameras all over (which I understand, I'm sure there is a high theft rate in that business.) You're followed around and watched like a hawk. Touching items throughout the store and bringing children in with you are frowned upon. ( Again I understand kids in a craft store could be disaster however, the way I've seen other customers treated is disgusting) I have witnessed grown adults treated as small children when it was not necessary. About a half hour ago, I attempted to search the website for a price on several items I was going to go buy today, however I was having difficultly finding what I was look for. Silly me thought I could call the store and simply inquire a price, but apparently that is frowned upon. "hello, I was wondering if I could get a price on your flat back rhinestones." *Insert angry employee* "we do NOT GIVE prices over the phone, its on-line." CLICK* No customer service, no "this is our website, is there anything else I can help you out with today", no "bye", "have a nice day", "kiss my butt", nothing just hung up. In this economy people are more conscious of how we spend our hard earned money. Personally, customer service is a top priority for where I'm going to spend my money. Munro just lost a customer. I may just be one customer to them, however between myself and my mom, we have spent well over $500/year for several years in this store. I was planning on purchasing at least $300 worth of product today, however I am going to find a store that appreciates its customers. Save your frustration, any money you would save by shopping here isn't worth the rude attitude, glares, phone conversion, and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE you're going to receive. read more

Munro Crafts has the best selection of jewelry findings, beads, etc. in the area at low price points. The store is very organized too, so I was easily able to find what I needed. The store has always been very busy when I've been there, so I did have to wait at the counter for help, but all of the ladies have been very helpful when they got to me. Lots of stuff to choose from and an upgraded website now which is good. Used to be incredibly difficult to get floor help or a smile from anyone who worked thee but seems to have improved over the past year which is great. They have good prices and the more you spend the higher percentage you can get off your total ticket so no need to shop at JOANN'S or MICHAELS and use their coupons. However, you must be careful with dated items such as polymer clays or glues. Beware that they may be rendered useless by age (crumbly clays) and returns are at best, very difficult to get approved so make sure you're buying what you absolutely want. read more

I don't even want to give it one star. I walked in and was never greeted; then this blonde haired lady who claimed to be the owner was rude, loud, and screamed everything. When I went to the register to pay for my stuff I was overcharged. The set of silver necklaces had two prices on them: marked $7.50 and $15.00. I was charged $15.00. When I pointed that out the ' owner' came over and said " that's not even our price tag. That's the manufacturers tag. Someone forgot to remove it." I asked her if she was going to honor the lower price and she very sarcastically and rudely said, " um, no. I don't have to sell this to you at all. I won't make any money of it if I sell it to you for $7.50. I already went through this a month ago and the law says I don't have to honor the lower price. We forgot to remove it ." I just stared st her in disbelief with her rude demeanor. She then looked at the clocked and screamed " 15 minutes to closing. Bring your stuff to the register. We are closing". I am shocked at the rudeness and the look back of professionalism and poor customer service. I WILL NOT shop there again. I will find their competition and shop there. read more

As others have stated the staff is a bit edgy. I am a long time customer (more than 5 years), and have had the same sad experience as other customers. I'll walk in and choose the beads - spend about an hour gathering them, and the employee will take less than ten seconds to take the joy out of them. The store is disorganized to the point that it is like shopping in a salvage yard. The signage is confusing, but I have learned to no longer ask for clarification --- Wow - I have not been dressed down like that since I was a child, and certainly not by someone trying to get me to give them my hard earned money. Read the reviews, and you will see that I am not the only person who thinks the service people behind the counters are not friendly, rude and overbearing. If you want fast service buy on-line. I feel like employees think Im some pee-on not worthy of their time. There is no pick a number set up and I have several times been skipped to see the employee go right to someone who they know. You will find lots of craft items there, but you will feel like you are crammed in a sardine can, with no room to move in. Worse yet if you need assistance, the help is always matter-of-factly its over there. I have been to Monro's only a hand full of times, but due to the rude employees, or ones who seem to not want to smile or say thank you I will never step foot in here again. I have been going to Monroe for nearly 20 years. If you are looking for a Michael's or joann fabrics environment, this is not the place for you. Take your patience pill and embrace the thrill of the hunt. When busy, the staff can be brusque...don't take it personally...ofttimes the queue is 5 people deep. The staff is knowledgeable and do know where their merchandise is. They also have the best selection and price points for beads, at least, in the 50 states. I do not exaggerate...even in NYC prices and selection pale in large bead houses. Even with the lousy reviews that I read I went there for the first time. Their inventory is out of this world. Cameras yes, however, I did not feel as if I was being watched the entire time. The woman behind the counter was cordial, I wouldn't say she was overly friendly but she was OK. The other 2 employees that I happened to see in the store however, did not smile or say anything. If you are into crafts they have just about anything you would hope to find. Will go back when I am looking for specific bead findings or charms. I belong to a polymer clay guild in a major northeastern city. Our artistic group has been using Munro Crafts for more than 10 years for workshop and retreat supplies. We have always had good experiences with our phone in orders. Delivery is timely and the Fresh clay is first rate. The prices at a discount level most desirable. It is great to be able to get so many supplies in one place. read more

I must have gone to a different Munro Crafts than the other reviewers. I've been there twice in 2012 and have found the staff to be friendly and helpful both times. The store is a bit of a jumbled mess, but if you look around a bit you'll notice that things are organized in a fairly logical manner. There's an awful lot of stuff crammed into a relatively small space. I make jewelry from polymer clay, and Munro's has the largest selection of Sculpey, Premo, and Fimo clay, adhesives, finishes, cutters, textures, tools, etc. that I've ever seen in one place. They also have lots of findings, tools, and beads for general jewelry-making, as well as packaging and displays. They have a lot more stuff that I wouldn't even know what to do with, AND they offer generous discounts depending on how much you spend. read more

I went there on Valentine's day with my boy friend (very happy to see their stuff) to get some jewelry supply. The cashiers and customer service was terrible. At some point I found them yelling at me. I was fully shameful and feeling bad in front of my boy friend. Although I spent about 35$ to buy the stuff they were looking at me badly. I will never go there again. I believe this store doesn't obey the US customer satisfaction rules. My suggestion is if you want to go there, please don't have any body with you.
