I've been visiting Creative Arts Studio for months now and have been overjoyed every time pottery painting! The studio has many small and large tables to accommodate all types of groups. Premade pottery and paint line the walls; which you pick out. The staff do an excellent job assisting with paint recommendations and refilling materials as needed. You are charged for the price of the pottery item plus a Studio Fee. The Studio Fee is $8 for adults and $6 for children. After painting, you pick up your pottery items about a week later. During that week, your pottery goes through their kiln! I highly recommend pottery painting here! Such a creative activity for all ages. Let your imagination go wild!

We made lil bowls. More like ash trays or saucers lol in our wheel class. We really enjoyed our experience. They drying process takes a lil long to come back for pickup but the return & pickup was quite fast. We will definitely be back to try other creative outlets!

I've been visiting the Creative Arts Studio for years and have so much fun every time. I typically come for walk-in pottery painting, but have also joined for a ceramic Christmas tree painting class, and well as a glass fusing class. They offer several different types of classes, multiple pottery pieces to choose from, and have reasonable prices. Another plus is that they also offer snacks and drinks available for purchase, which is great. The staff knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help with a project. I've been coming here for years and will continue to come back! It's a great place for people of all ages and I can't recommend it enough.

Very crowded on a Saturday in January but we were able to do a walk in. Staff seemed a little frazzled but eventually got us started. Reasonable prices and a fun afternoon.

We found this place from RIO Michigan Adventures Royal Oak. We we took a day trip to the Eastside. Direction in GPS took us right there. Thankfully there was a parking garage across the street so parking was easy. There is street parking but everything was full on a Sunday. I can't even imagine what it would be like on the weekday or Friday/Saturday. Parking in the garage first 2 hours free. We were considered a walk in appointment. It was very busy. I got in line but found an associate walking by and asked where I should be. I was told to wait up front while they checked out the party in front of us. The line went quick, and we were placed at a table for three. If we wanted to walk away with a project the only thing we could make would be a Mosaic piece. We decided on a painted piece with the expectation that we will be back in a week to collect the piece because it has to be processed. We were given instructions on paint, given water and brushes then left to our own devices. Everyone was friendly, there were a ton of paint options and brush options. The environment was chaotic and tight space to get around everything from picking your piece to paint to picking your colors but somehow everything works systematically. Having a bulky jacket and purse did not make it any better but we hung them off our chairs and hoped to not get paint on anything. We were successful. Its an art environment. Lots of creative ideas. Classes in back spinning pottery, families, parties and individuals all collectively together to design, paint and make memories. Looking forward to the final results. Will know In a week. Total cost was under $100 for the three of us. Prices are based on cost of item you select and each person has a studio fee. They take credit card and we were down in under 2 hours. Never felt rushed and all our questions were answered politely and with a smile.

Did the one hour pottery class w/ a group of friends!! This was super fun & very beginner friendly. Aprons were provided. Super excited to pick up my bowl in a few weeks & see how it turned out

It was the perfect Valentines date night! The staff was friendly and our instructor was very helpful and personable. The pricing was fair for what we were doing. Make sure to have a reservation because they get packed!

What a fun way to spend an afternoon! I had so much fun painting my bowl and hanging out with friends. We came on a Sunday and were able to walk-in with 3 people. Overall I think I paid about $30 with the studio fee for this bowl, so not bad! The only thing I would think is an issue for this place is it's not very accessible and the walkways are pretty narrow. Which is a shame.

Now this place is top tier. 10 stars. We went for date night. Created these bowls with the pottery wheel -- it was definitely giving the movie Ghost vibes. I really really enjoyed this experience. It's not expensive either. You make the bowls or cups or whatever, they put them in a furnace and you pick up the finished product a few days later. They also have options where you can paint structures that were already made. There are also classes if you want to perfect your skills.. highly recommend

I have been here many times and have made many pottery items. I have come on dates, with the ladies and with my mom for Mother's Day. They have room and table to accommodate large groups. You can pick out your pottery item of choice, pick out your colors. The staff will help guide you if needed too. The items took about a week to go through the kiln to set the paint or glaze and you can easily believe you could do this for a living when you see the results. I have made spoon rest, dishes and bowls as well as mugs here. They have many options for kids and adults alike. Let your imagination go wild here, you will likely surprise yourself.

I've visited a few times with friends - it's so fun to paint the premade pottery! They offer pottery classes as well with an hour on the wheel for $70 plus $20-$25 for each additional person I believe. Everyone is so friendly here. It's also encouraged to BYOB.

I've been here 3 times over the years. Each time the staff has been very friendly with explaining the process. It's nice to pick out the type of item you want to paint and then sit down to paint. Prices seem good. This plate was about $16 + $8 studio fee. Fun for kids or a cool place for a date.

I love that gnome tree? How can I get started in making one? How much will it cost?

Hi! You can stop by anytime to paint a gnome tree. We have the large 13" tree which is $102 plus the $8 studio fee for the paints, glazing and firing. That includes the light kit too. We have a gnome lantern that is smaller which is around $60… Read more

My friend's kiddo was a good age, around 3/4 to get what she was doing and appreciate it. Made reservations online since the website said it was recommended. I'm glad I did! Making reservations was very simple, didn't have to put any money down. Parking can be a little congested since it's in a plaza with other places. Walked in and was immediately greeted. Inside is really cool. The theme is all black and white, looks kind of like a cartoonish vibe, and then all of the crafts speak for themselves with colors! There was a birthday party going on in the back. No private rooms for birthday parties. They use different color cones to show your reservation and where you'll be sitting. Was told to look around the store and decide which type of craft we wanted to do. They had a lot of mediums: candles, bead bracelets, painting, mosaics, and decorating different objects with whipped cream gel and adding charms. The last one was definitely the most popular and most unique. Once you pick out your items, you go to the cashier and can either pay ahead of time or wait to pay in case you want to create something more than what you expected. We were told once we pick what we wanted to let staff know and they will tell us next steps. My daughter went with a small brush and we were then given a tray to pick out the charms that we wanted to decorate our brush. There were so many charms! All of them were included in the price but a few were only allowed to use one time once since it was a bigger charm. We were told to only pick out a few charms and can come back for more. Staff said whatever we don't use charm wise, to be sure to put it back where you got it. Unfortunately, there was so many charms, and with how busy and chaotic it was, it was really hard to put them all back. I would definitely recommend only grabbing so many. We were told you get to pick two different whipped cream gel colors. The gel when dry turns into a silicone like texture. When we were done picking our charms and gel, to let them know and they would come back to tell us how to apply and use the whipped cream gels. Unfortunately, two big parties came in and staff had no time for us anymore. We were pretty much on our own. Just winging it, which was a shame when you're spending $25 on a tiny little hairbrush to decorate and have no idea what you're doing. I think it would be better of staff to all at once just tell you what to do along with a demo how it all works rather than constantly having different touch points throughout. My friend and I winged it as much as we could. I definitely don't think we did it right. I noticed a sign that had different pipping tips for the whipped cream gel, again, a bummer we weren't told about this. The charms and beads are all along the wall and right up against the walkway and tables. So it was pretty difficult for people to try to spend time to look at all the charms, but also letting people by and also people are trying to sit in their chairs. Staff then came over and was great with apologizing for us falling to the wayside due to understaffing and the immense parties that came in. Kelly was very sweet and kind and took her time with us and taught us how to reapply the charms if we wanted to. Along with how to use the whipped cream gel. You then have to take a heat gun and dry your creation for about two minutes, but the longer you do it the better it seemed. Be sure to let your creation sit for 24-48 days to really cure. There is a bathroom that single stall in the back. We were bummed that the Photo Booth machine was down, otherwise we would've used it. When you cash out, you're supposed to turn in the receipt to show what you made. Kelly then put our items in a bag and again apologized for our experience and said coming on the weekday is a much better visit. Our reservations were at four, and we didn't think that it would be so busy, so use caution if booking on the weekends. A very cool unique craft place, that I'm sure can sustain itself with the area that it's in. We'll have to come back on a quieter day to really enjoy all that they have to offer. I would've given a 3 star, but if it wasn't for Kelly, taking the extra time with us and apologizing for our initial experience. She made the whole trip much better!

I very much dislike giving negative reviews, especially to locally owned businesses, but this one…read moreis definitely deserving. I found this store on Facebook and reached out to the business on Facebook. I communicated with the owner via Facebook messenger and booked a time to come in. My son wanted to make a coffee mug for dad's birthday. We booked our appointment three weeks before my husband's birthday. We arrived on time and found the location to be underwhelming. The front of the store has peeling lettering on the windows and the lobby was cluttered and unorganized. I'm a crafter and I work in a chaotic craftroom, but can definitely see how this would be off-putting. The lobby is definitely not appropriate for young children because of the tripping hazards. We were directed to the back of the store to pick out what we wanted to decorate. Along one wall was items that could be painted and brought home same-day. The other wall held items that would be painted and kept for "one week". My son wanted to make his dad a coffee mug for his birthday, so we chose a mug from the side that would need to be kept at the store for a week. The experience of decorating and the decorating process was pleasant enough, and my son enjoyed his time spent creating. This is why I have awarded this business two stars. Beyond the actual "creating" experience, there were no positives. My son finished his project, I went to the front of the store to pay, and we left. I filled out a form and the owner asked me if I wanted her to call me when it was ready or to message me on Facebook where we had already been communicating. I told her that either was fine and gave all of my additional contact information. After two weeks (a week before I needed our gift), I messaged the business on Facebook to ask if it was ready for pickup. The business read my message but did not respond. Another week went by without a response, so I messaged again. Again, my my message was read but no response. We found a different gift to give my husband for his birthday and I let my (very disappointed) son know that we could still give dad his gift, but maybe for upcoming Father's Day. I called three days later and left a message. I explained my issue and left my contact information. No one returned my call after a week. I came during business hours and the store was locked. Another week went by and I both messaged on Facebook (admittedly very irritated) then called the business. Miraculously, the owner answered and told me that they would be there the next day and gave business hours. They were to be open from noon to three. I arrived at 1:15 to locked doors, even though I spoke with the owner over the phone and confirmed the hours just the day before. Multiple messages and phone calls later, with lots of stress added, I've got the mug. Dad got his now "Father's Day" mug. The mug is cute. My son enjoyed creating it. The business doesn't operate like a business should, doesn't communicate with customers, holds projects hostage, isn't open during their business hours, and is overall just not a good experience. I would not recommend this business to anyone, even my worst enemy.

The place was a little hard to find, not sure why my GPS kept taking me to SkyZone nearby but it's just a couple buildings down from there. There weren't too many people there when we arrived around noon. We found a spot at the table and painted for about half an hour. The staff members were kind and refilled paint as needed. The bathroom has a padded changing table for babies which is nice. My 2 year old son had a fun time, we will definitely return :)
