Premade pottery and paint line the walls; which you pick out. The staff do an excellent job assisting with paint recommendations and refilling materials as needed. You are charged for the price of the pottery item plus a Studio Fee. The Studio Fee is $8 for adults and $6 for children. After painting, you pick up your pottery items about a week later. During that week, your pottery goes through their kiln! I highly recommend pottery painting here! Such a creative activity for all ages. Let your imagination go wild!

I found this shop through the recommendation of another friend who had done their 6-week course here where they learned how to throw clay and then got to spend the remainder of the time just making any and all pieces to their hearts desire! For our pottery class, it was definitely very beginner and with a few more guidelines/boundaries. We were all given a certain amount of clay and led through the basics of how to shape clay on a pottery wheel. From there, we were able to shape it up into general "pot" shapes. Unfortunately, this clay/glaze/method is not food-safe, so my dreams of making a little matcha bowl for myself were dashed! But I still had a super fun time getting reacquainted with pottery after my few weeks of pottery class in my senior year of college before I realized it was going to be a bit too much for me and dropped the course LOL! NOTE: I would highly recommend not doing this class if you've got long acrylics/longer nails! My nails were at their longest length (had been growing them out for about 2 months I believe?) and it made it extremely difficult to shape the clay! The instructor is super helpful no matter what and gives you tips and workarounds for people with long nails, but I'd just recommend cutting them short (if possible) before this class as I think I would've done a way better job if I had done that with mine! All in all though, the instructor is so knowledgeable about all the potential and actual pitfalls people might make during this class and is super helpful in general in calling these out before they happen or helping you fix your clay after you do! I really enjoyed this class and I think my friend did too! Her and her husband are interested, especially given how close they live to the studio, in doing the 6-week course/membership where you can throw to your heart's content and I really hope they do that! I would easily do it too if it weren't located this far from me, but I'm over here considering it regardless of the distance because I had that great of a time!

I saw this place pop up in Berkley a few years ago and was intrigued. I don't consider myself an…read moreartist by any stretch of the imagination. I hadn't attempted anything creative since the last art class I had in grade school. But I was interested when I saw they offered a Zentangle class which promised the only artistic ability you needed was to draw a stick figure. I took the class and ended up really enjoying it. It is essentially structured, meditative doodling. I came back for several more Zentangle classes when I found it was a great way to relieve stress and get out of the rut of logical, left-brain thinking. I never intended to create great art, but rather to get in touch with the creative part of my brain and to enjoy the meditative qualities of creating art. But I enjoyed Zentangle so much that I eventually branched out and tried several other classes that included things like intuitive painting, sculpture, and traditional Japanese Sumi-e black ink painting. Each class was fun and informative, and I was surprised to find sometimes I actually liked some of the art I created, too, and not just the process. The owner, Debby, and the instructors have all been great. They clearly love helping people learn and get in touch with their creativity. Articipate offers a wide variety of events, classes and lessons. It seems like there is something for everyone - regardless of age and whether you consider yourself artistic or not. It seems like a glut of places have popped up in the past few years offering private "paint parties". I have been to a couple of those and while they can be fun, this place takes an approach that is much more fun and engaging than a one size fits all "paint by numbers" approach - regardless of artistic ability. I encouraged anyone interested to check out what they offer and let the friendly owner and instructors help you get in touch with your creative side.

This was my first glass blowing experience and I would happily go back to take more classes!…read more My mom told me she wanted to do a glass blowing class for Mother's Day so I planned ahead, researched a few options, and came across this recommended place! I was happy to see they have several different classes, including a Mother's Day heart making workshop--and don't worry, this is definitely for beginners and newbies! The whole class lasted about a little over an hour and it starts with a tour of the place and then leads into the actual glass blowing activity. The space is very cool by the way. You can see dozens of hand made pieces (and purchase them) and they just added a bar and lounge that will be accessible for events and reserving too! For the glass blowing portion, they have two workstations that can probably accommodate up to 4 guests each, and two glass blowing instructors so each group of up to 4 can have attention, and I thought this worked out well. They start the glass blowing portion with a demo and then allow you to get involved (with lots of guidance and assistance for very levels of comfort and handling). Our instructor was very friendly and super engaging, which I appreciated because I know my mom was a little nervous at times. If you're doing a class, do please take their recommendation seriously of bringing water because it will get hot when you're in the workstation! Overall, both my mom and I were very pleased with our Mother's Day hearts and even though they take time to cool, we were both happy when we got the call the next day that they were ready for pick up (you can also do delivery too). My mom and I had a wonderful experience here and we both plan to return for another holiday themed glass blowing class.

I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique experience or wanting to try a new art form! Only thing is that it's a fairly pricey experience, so might not plan on being a recurring activity.
