I very much dislike giving negative reviews, especially to locally owned businesses, but this one is definitely deserving. I found this store on Facebook and reached out to the business on Facebook. I communicated with the owner via Facebook messenger and booked a time to come in. My son wanted to make a coffee mug for dad's birthday. We booked our appointment three weeks before my husband's birthday. We arrived on time and found the location to be underwhelming. The front of the store has peeling lettering on the windows and the lobby was cluttered and unorganized. I'm a crafter and I work in a chaotic craftroom, but can definitely see how this would be off-putting. The lobby is definitely not appropriate for young children because of the tripping hazards. We were directed to the back of the store to pick out what we wanted to decorate. Along one wall was items that could be painted and brought home same-day. The other wall held items that would be painted and kept for "one week". My son wanted to make his dad a coffee mug for his birthday, so we chose a mug from the side that would need to be kept at the store for a week. The experience of decorating and the decorating process was pleasant enough, and my son enjoyed his time spent creating. This is why I have awarded this business two stars. Beyond the actual "creating" experience, there were no positives. My son finished his project, I went to the front of the store to pay, and we left. I filled out a form and the owner asked me if I wanted her to call me when it was ready or to message me on Facebook where we had already been communicating. I told her that either was fine and gave all of my additional contact information. After two weeks (a week before I needed our gift), I messaged the business on Facebook to ask if it was ready for pickup. The business read my message but did not respond. Another week went by without a response, so I messaged again. Again, my my message was read but no response. We found a different gift to give my husband for his birthday and I let my (very disappointed) son know that we could still give dad his gift, but maybe for upcoming Father's Day. I called three days later and left a message. I explained my issue and left my contact information. No one returned my call after a week. I came during business hours and the store was locked. Another week went by and I both messaged on Facebook (admittedly very irritated) then called the business. Miraculously, the owner answered and told me that they would be there the next day and gave business hours. They were to be open from noon to three. I arrived at 1:15 to locked doors, even though I spoke with the owner over the phone and confirmed the hours just the day before. Multiple messages and phone calls later, with lots of stress added, I've got the mug. Dad got his now "Father's Day" mug. The mug is cute. My son enjoyed creating it. The business doesn't operate like a business should, doesn't communicate with customers, holds projects hostage, isn't open during their business hours, and is overall just not a good experience. I would not recommend this business to anyone, even my worst enemy. read more

I found out about this place because of an event I saw on Facebook. It was open painting from 10am to 3pm and you could paint a fathers day themed plaster piece for $5. The place was a little hard to find, not sure why my GPS kept taking me to SkyZone nearby but it's just a couple buildings down from there. There weren't too many people there when we arrived around noon. We found a spot at the table and painted for about half an hour. The staff members were kind and refilled paint as needed. The bathroom has a padded changing table for babies which is nice. My 2 year old son had a fun time, we will definitely return :) read more

This place is owned by thieves. My daughter went several weekends in a row to work on a Christmas gift for her nana. These terrible people closed their doors and never showed up at the arranged time for pick up. I tried calling, messaging everything. My daughter was devastated and we had no gift for Christmas in addition to being out $50 for nothing. Horrible people. Took my 2 granddaughters to paint ceramics on January 18 2022 for their mom's birthday on March 2nd. Called about a month later and the pieces were not ready. I haven't received a call letting me know the pieces were ready for pick and every time I call there is no answer. $70.00 later and 2 disappointed girls. read more

I should have known better than to go in. From the moment we arrived to leaving it was just disappointing. Your first impression is a front door that is missing half of its lettering. So you are not sure if they are still in business or not. I understand that it's a place to create but dirty and chaotic is not necessary. Everything in the front lobby was dirty and dusty. The floors are covered in months of plaster over spill. Table clothes are cheap disposable plastic which is perfect for what your doing, but there is no need to not replace them often. The options for what you could paint was limited verses what could be glazed and picked up 10 days later. My 5 yr old was instructed to use a new brush for every color and to not double dip. She's smart but why?? What kid is gonna understand that. They sprayed the piece before leaving which than loaded the place with sealer fumes. There was just stuff everywhere. Nothing was clean or organized. The kitchen that you walked through had and overflowing dirty sink. read more

Super disappointing! I took my son to paint Christmas gifts for family in Europe. We went to paint in November knowing we'd need extra time for shipping. Instead of the 7-10 days promised to get our pottery back, it took 21 days! Even with the holidays, 21 days seemed excessive. But our pottery looked cute and my son enjoyed it, so I decided to let him paint some pottery for our house. I was assured I would get the pieces by Christmas and they'd give me a call when they were done. Well, I never received a call and then noticed the shop was closed the week of Christmas. Okay, so I didn't have the Christmas plate or ornament by Christmas, I could get over that, we had fun painting that's what matters. I went in to pick up the pottery after Christmas, the owner tried giving me the wrong pieces and the wrong number of pieces. I went back into the shop to return the wrong piece and get ours, the owner was rude and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to give me the correct pieces. I had the right pieces now, I thought I'd be done, no, my pieces weren't completely fired/glazed! The pieces were still rough and unfinished! I went back in and the female owner wouldn't even talk to me and was stomping around, like me asking for the correct pieces and finished pieces was inconceivable! So the male owner told me they'd put it back into the kiln and I'd have to wait to pick it up the next day. Went back the next day, the plate looked awful, I don't know much about the glazing/kiln process but maybe putting it back into the kiln wasn't a great idea, who knows. But I can say the attitude of the female owner, the back and forth and poor quality of the finished product, made this experience exceptionally bad. How is this place in business???? There posted hours are 11-5 on Wednesday's. I planned 2 weeks ahead of time to bring my kids here to make Mother's Day gifts. Even planned a babysitter to come with me so I could focus on the activity w each of my kids. Showed up at 11:15 to a locked door and no one answered the phone. Waited in the area until 12:30 when I finally GAVE UP AND WENT HOME. What a horrible business practice they should be ASHAMED and reported to the BBB!! read more

My sister made reservations a MONTH prior and set it up with her email and everything.We we're going to make stuff for my moms 50th birthday.When we got there the doors were locked but the sign on the door said open till 5pm on the 28th,we got there at 3:30pm.Unbelievable,you can't close early like that especially when there are reservations.They need to fix this because this is absolutely disgusting to treat their costumers like this. read more

Kind of disorganized, didn't really get good instructions on what to do and how To start other than one side was $2 more than the other side. There was no place to hang coats outside of where we sat and got paint on them. Was asked to share paints at table even though wanted different colors. My daughter had a good time, can't wait to see how ours turned out in a couple weeks. read more

After reading previous poor reviews, I called Plaster Playhouse to make sure they were open because I wanted to being my kids there to paint. They lady replied they were open until 8 and they just asked that you were there by 6:30pm so you had time to do a project. So then I asked if there were any private parties planned today or anything else happening that would interfere with walk-in customers. She replied, no. I drove over 45 minutes with my kids and arrived just before 2:30pm to a LOCKED door and a sign that said they would open at 2:45. We waited until 3pm. No one ever showed up to open the business. What poor business etiquette. ..A waste of my time & a waste of $ for gas. Not to mention very disappointed children who were really looking forward to this experience. GO ELSEWHERE!!! read more

Come to this fun place and have a keep sake for years. They have kewl themed parties and do birthday parties. Many of items to choose from for your painting pleasure. I brought my nieces and they had a great time making things for their moms. read more

Had a wonderful time with my 5 year old daughter. She absolutely loved it and we had a great time bonding over painting.

Such a fun activity for the kids and adults. I stopped in for a quick activity and couldn't let the kids have all the fun. I was able to paint a really cool plate that will look awesome once glazed. I might have a girl's night out there! read more

Very disappointed! Got my kids ready and excited to paint pottery and drove to Plaster Playhouse only to find they were closed for a private party. They did not show this on their website or Facebook page. This is especially disappointing and frustrating because they advertise "Walk ins welcome" and "You never need an appointment to work in our studio." read more

OMG - seriously the most rude unattentive staff ever. We went in there with about 5 little girls for an impromtu afternoon of fun and the staff acted like we were putting them out (ps - it was NOT busy). Then they told us it would take 2 weeks for the pottery and it took close to 4 (AND we had to call to follow up). PLEASE go to another pottery place, there are plenty around. read more

I called Plaster Playhouse to find out how they worked, what time they were open etc.....Not knowing what time they were open I asked the girl who ANSWERED the phone what time they were open and all I could hear is another women in the background saying "We're not open, why the hell are they calling" over and over. First of all, if you are not open......don't answer the phone! Second of all, HOW RUDE! This really makes me want to frequent your establishment. read more

I only rated this business 1 star because this did not allow for zero stars. My daughter painted a piece and was told it would be ready in 2 weeks. After not receiving a call that it was ready, I called and they said her piece was ready. I went to pick it up without my daughter (also I was not there when she painted the piece so I didn't know what it looked like). They gave me the wrong piece. I called to let them know and they said they found it, would glaze it, and call me back. They never called me back so I took a chance and went to pick it up. They still couldn't find it and the Manager was extremely rude. I told her I would like a refund since there was no product. She told me they only give gift certificates. I felt that was still unacceptable so I asked for my money again. After her yelling at me, she did refund my money and told me that I was never welcome back again. I never raised my voice at her and didn't want any confrontation. I just wanted my daughters art. Horrible customer service. read more
