Nightmare at Muhleisens! Hair in sour cream used on potato, a bug frozen in ice chip in daughter's cola, three raw prime ribs, we needed to ask for silverware and water. My cocktail was incorrectly made, but because I tasted it, one sip, I had to pay for it, their words. Our collective bill=$227. Brought prime rib home and cooked next day. Disgusting, disgraceful. In this photo, you can see a 10 Oz delmonico steak that was overcooked. It was supposed to be medium, and the majority of it was fat added to this unsatisfied meal, My kids ordered burgers, and they were charred. The waitress took the meals back, and after a bit she brought back new cheeseburgers and my steak that I was not happy with and apologized, stating that the cook refused to cook me another steak and not to mention the kids medium cheeseburgers were yet over cooked again' this is not acceptable customer service this needs to be addressed in hopes in the future that the cook not only cooks the meals as asked correctly by the customer but also treats the custumers with respect with simple meal request. read more

I took the most beautiful woman here and we had steaks and spicy jelly, jalapeño poppers. The food was amazing.

For any of you out there that are considering going to Mulheisen's Restaurant in Almond, NY BUYER BEWARE unless you choose to spend money foolishly - the place is going to pot in a handbasket - and so is the food. We chose to go there last night to celebrate a birthday - special that night was like 3 sizes (of Prime Rib and prices) + the Sweetheart (for 2 people). From just about the first moment we walked in, we were told that they had just had a big group of people from a Golf Tournament. Find a seat we wanted and sit down - we did. At that time there were many other patrons seated and waiting to eat. Our waitress, Martina, was somewhat curt and abrupt from the start and it almost appeared that we were imposing on her. There was 1/2 piece silverware settings at the tables. Everything about the place appeared like a worn down dump. 4 of us ordered the PRIME RIB - not a cheap price meal. It came with potato and a salad bar. The salad bar was 1/2 empty, out of lettuce and the dressing was just in bowls, unmarked with what it was. To make a LONG story short, we had to about beg for water, was suppose to get dinner rolls and had to ask neumerous times for those - when finally received them 1/2 way through the meal, they were cold and felt like someone had just taken them out of freezer. We ordered Clams Casino as an appetizer - over 1/2 of the got left on the plate as they were just plain greasy and nasty. One of us ordered a glass of Gingler Ale - partway down the drink there was a frozen fly in an ice cube. My sour cream for baked potato had a hair in it clear as day and when told waitress, she replied well what do you want me to do about it. I asked for the potato to be taken off my bill and she replied it could not be, it was part of the meal. Someone else ordered a Margaretta that tasted nothing like a Margaretta so returned it and ordered a Bloody Mary instead - that was even worse. It was like it was made with spoiled Tomato Juice and just plain nasty. She returned that an ordered a Vodka Tonic w/lime, When she got her bill, the first two drinks remained on the bill and when questioned they said well you drank some of it - she replied "well I only tasted them" and they were awful - unreal. The expensive steaks were NOT cooked at all correct and tasteless - one was about raw, the other not right at all, the third was ok BUT they had to beg for steak knifes. All three ended up being taken home. I had shrimp and could only eat part of it - it tasted like they had been frozen and sat in a freezer for a long time. We were there forever and left hungry but broke. There were a few other issues but it is NOT worth it to even waste more time talking about it. This will do me no good BUT I sure hope I can stop others from even considering going there as this place has completely turned into a dump and no wonder it is for sale! It used to be a WONDERFUL, reasonable place to go for a really good, decent meal - THAT SHIP HAS SAILED. read more

Muhleisan's is a small town bar and restaurant. Food is good. I highly recommend that you order their wings or Pizza (the works). Had the broiled Seafood platter this past weekend and it was super yummy. read more

My partner and I stumbled upon Mulheisins almost a year ago, and we are STILL thinking about the jalapeno poppers! We live halfway across the country in a city with great food, but we are seriously considering coming back to Almond just for those ding dang delicious jalapeno poppers. 1st time here. Heard great things and this place exceeded my expectations. Small town and it definitely has the small town charm. Service by Emily was superb. The menu is very extensive. The food is fantastic and portions are plentiful. I had the "small" Broiled seafood platter and had to box half of it up. Prices are surprisingly low for the quality and quantity. Consistency, it's easy to get a great meal occasionally from one of Allegany County's steak and seafood restaurants, what is not so easy to find is Consistency... Muhleisen's has been doing this for years! I have been going there a couple times a year, more some years than others, and I have never had a meal that was less than fantastic! Today was no exception, the clams casino was, as always, the best I have ever had. Today I opted to splurge and go for the Surf and Turf, with an upgrade from 10oz to 16oz steak. Was the steak 16oz's maybe but I would have guessed to say more like 18 - 20 and was grilled to perfection, medium rare, warm but red in the center... Twin 4oz lobster tales accompanied my steak and were tender and sweet as should be! The baked potato was served with ample butter packets and sour cream. My dinner also came with a fresh garden salad and two warm rolls with lots of whipped butter on the side. The service was quick, the young girl that waited on me was polite but not overbearing, my drink was kept full and no idle chit chat (Some people like a chatty waitress, I do NOT)! Their prices have increased a bit, but the portions have not been affected like most other places! The décor is clean but dated, they just repainted inside and out but still have the hand-hewn wooden beam concept of yester year, there are no marble sinks with gold plated faucets in the facilities, but they are simple and CLEAN! They even have a fireplace that is used on the winter which adds a cozy atmosphere! If you are looking for fantastic food from fingers, pizza and burgers to steaks and seafood, without the pretentious snooty atmosphere for the whole family, Muhleisen's is the place! They also have a bar next door for those of you who like to have a beverage before, during or after your meal. Did I mention they have a fantastic "family style" dinner special every Sunday, I should have, I have had this many times and as with everything else, it is fantastic! read more

Stopped for the Sunday family style dinner of roast pork, mashed potatoes, stuffing, fresh peas, homemade bread, and homemade pie. We added the salad bar with fresh veggies from someone's garden. The service was top-notch and friendly. Our party of eight is very happy. read more

Party of four. All of our meat was undercooked except for my shrimp, which was overcooked. Even after I sent my steak back it came back pink. I ordered well done. Our waitress was nice but the staff was not well trained. The table next to us was done with salad bar and still didn't have their drinks. I would never go back. What a waste of money! The food we ordered was raw. Salad bar lettuce was brown. Asked to have it refilled with fresh lettuce, she dumps fresh brown lettuce on top of what was left in the bowl. Dinner was to come with baked potato which was never received. Will not recommend, nor will we be back. This was horrible! read more

There's nothing wrong with a restaurant from the 70's - that's when you got good home cooked food - This establishment is not one of the chain style restaurants where the kitchen has to get the food out in eight minutes no matter what the dish is.......how is that for a fact? Your "fresh" fish is frozen, your "fresh" burger is frozen.....etc. So to PR from Hauppauge, NY - sorry you didn't like the place but my family and I have been going here for years (yes, starting in the seventies) and we always know we will get food made fresh and service with a smile and prices that are easy of the wallet. read more
