I work in nearby White Plains, and I came to Mughal Palace on a recommendation from a fellow Indian food lover. I have only ever come for lunch, but that has been a dozens times, as this place is excellent for lunch and perhaps even business lunches as well. Their lunch special is a buffet-style offering for about $13 which allows you unlimited dishes of chicken tikka masala, several types of paneer, garlic naan, and other types of scrumptious, quick Indian food. I particularly love their chilled rice pudding with tons of vanilla flavor and golden raisins. The wait staff is also friendly and courteous. Love Indian food so I decided to take my girlfriend with me. We walked in and I asked "can we get a table near the window" and I was sharply told "no, you have to sit over there". I assumed that maybe it was just a cultural difference in etiquette so we stayed... I intended on getting an entree and my girlfriend wasn't very hungry so she decided on an appetizer only. We were then told by the same gentleman "you have to get an entree, you can't just get an appetizer". Me and my girlfriend discussed for a minute and concluded that our presence wasn't wanted so we decided to leave. As we were walking out and the same gentleman had a puzzled look on his face I said "we decided to go somewhere else", in response he gave us an aggressive wave and said "you can go". Mughal Palace is Valhalla's destination for Indian food. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere add to the high quality meal offerings. I will most certainly be returning to Mughal Palace next time I am in the mood for some delicious Indian dishes. On this visit I was fortunate enough to try a number of Mughal Palace's offerings. The meal began with Pakora, chickpeas, vegetables, and spices mixed into a ball and fried. This aromatic delight was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of spice. While I was able to sample the chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, and chicken vindaloo, my main entree was the Baignan Bhartha. I found all of these dishes to be well balanced and flavorful, but the Baignan Bhartha, roasted mashed eggplant, really stood out to me. It was smooth and mild, with a rich eggplant flavor. The service at Mughal Palace was exemplary. The waiter was very friendly and was more than happy to answer any questions about the food. More important was the attentiveness of the waitstaff; glasses of water were never empty, rice was always quickly replenished. The Taj Mahal mural and other Indian art set the scene for a warm and traditional atmosphere. If you are looking to dine in a palace, this is not the place, but this quaint and comfortable setting is a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. Mughal Palace's menu covers a variety of traditional Indian favorites and features a number of special items. Imported Indian beers are featured on this drink menu alongside a basic wine selection.There is enough choice here for everyone without it being overwhelming. While the food here is a bit pricey, it is about right considering the quality of the food itself and the experience. Mughal Palace's daily lunch buffets which run about $15 are also worth noting for those who are unfamiliar with indian food and want to sample the variety or are just looking for something a bit more budget friendly. read more

I love this place. I love this place. I love this place and I miss it since I've moved to California. I have YET to find another Indian restaurant that comes close in food, price, ambience, service, etc. Their lunch buffet is very good if you'd like to get a taste for their foods and represents well what they normally deliver. I've been to so many Indian restaurants where the curry flavor seems to be the same in most dishes. This is not the case here. Each entree stands alone in flavor, richness and subtlety. Their staff is friendly, helpful, and patient. Even the first time I ever stepped in, the staff was so attentive (not my measure of good service but it wasn't annoying either) and they were very good at suggesting new dishes and explaining what they were. This is a great little find in Valhalla. My family has lived in this area for many years and we often go out for a meal when I am visiting. My stepfather doesn't like Indian food so we've never tried the food here. We were recently able to convince him to give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. The service is great and everyone who works here is friendly and appropriately attentive. The food is definitely great for it's price. Amazing Indian food spot! The food is halal and hits the spot. We got the barbecue chicken kebab, balti beef, lamb bhuna and the mughal special naan (it's got chicken Tikka in it!) We asked for the food to be extra spicy and they did not disappoint at all! It was delicious. We pretty much finished everything. The service was also really amazing. Had an amazing meal here! Sometimes I feel like Indian restaurants have a bunch of dishes all with the same overall flavors. But here everything we got was so different and bursting with flavor! Service was wonderful also! Went with the kids and myself solo which was of course a challenge and they were so accommodating and helpful. I believe it was the owner who came over and she was just lovely and then one of the younger staff was playing around with my son. Specific food delights I would recommend include a tiger shrimp special in a coconut milk gravy, Chole Peshwari chickpea dish, Baingan Bhurtha peeled mashed and sautéed eggplant (almost like a warm babaganoush but with way more flavor), and gobi Manchuria cauliflower. Oh and of course the bread! We got a garlic naan, poori (kids fave!), onion kulcha (my fave!), Peshwari Naan (stuffed w nuts raisins and cherries - never had this before! Loved it!) Great value lunch buffet. This restaurant is half owned by the one of the guys who owns Rani Mahal in Mamaroneck. They do a very similar lunch buffet for around $13. Always includes multiple hot dishes some vegetarian some with meat. Tandoori chicken and all the dips and sauces you could imagine a soup and two desserts. The quality of food is pretty good for the area. They are friendly and the busy lunch crowds keep the food fresh. read more

The food was OK. We always order takeout food from Royal Indian Palace but we decided to try this place because we were driving past it. My wife really loves Indian food but she refused to eat from this place. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the butter chicken tikka and the tomato soup. The tomato soup was very sweet and I liked it but my wife said it was just too sweet. The onion kuchla (bread) was good. This is where the food stopped being good. The tikka masala and butter chicken were watered down and the sauce was liquid like water and not thick like we are used to. The chicken meat they used had a lot of rib meat and was very hard to chew. My wife refused to eat it so I finished all of it over a couple of days. I think we are going to stick with Royal Indian Palace. read more

The food was delicious! Love the mix of spices they put in their food. The mango curry and aloo gobi were both amazing. Went on a Sunday night so the place was very quiet. The naan is very good, fluffy and thick. The owner and his wife are very sweet. The husband is outgoing and likes to interact with customers. They let our daughters put something on you tube. This is my go to Indian restaurant in Westchester. The shrimp tikka masala, masala dosa, and garlic naan are the best I've had anywhere in the States. And when I lived in the city, we had Indian food at least once a week. I would, however, avoid going there on Saturday nights. I went with a party of seven and we all felt rushed. As a resident of Valhalla, and a vegan to boot, pickings are pretty slim hereabouts. Things have been looking up recently, but Mughal Palace has been our rock. The food is consistently excellent, the price/portion ratio very reasonable, and the service is superb. The only thing holding me back from a solid 5 stars is that they have a tendency to over spice every once in a while, so if you're sensitive to heat, make a point of saying 'lightly spiced' or 'no spice' on dishes that can be accomodated that way. Just had dinner at Mughal Palace and I think the food just keeps getting better. The dosa appetizer was completely filled with the potatoes and peas. For the vegetarians in our party of four, the chole peshawar and the baingan burtha were just great. My wife loved the chicken tikka masala and our friend couldn't finish her big portion of chicken tandoori which she described as very moist and not dry like other places.
