Greater New York Area's Indian Food From a Mumbai-born Indian Chef that boasts of clients the likes of the Clintons and Martha Stewart is this Westchester chain of restaurants and cafes that serve excellent Indian food. This time I visited the @littlekababstation in Mount Kisko that like its sister restaurants, serves better mango lassi than the restaurants I tried in India itself. (Side note: In fairness, the Indian restaurants cooked with the season, and when I went to India in winter February mangoes weren't in season yet, that's why there was no delicious mango lassi at all. While in New York, chefs import whatever ingredient they need so we have almost everything the world cooks and eats any time, if one knows where to look.) So when people around me were skeptic about and asked why I chose to travel to India of all places -- it all began with superb Indian food offered in New York. We have Michelin starred restaurants to cozy, and affordable places like this. On my table: Lamb madras (heaven!) Lots of raita (I'm in love with it.) Lamb kabab over rice Vegetable Pakora (my favorite Indian street food, comparable to Ilocano ukoy) Chicken wings marinated Indian-style tandoori baked roti Mango lassi (not pictured) It's so delicious and transporting. I could close my eyes and imagine I'm in Rajasthan or Delhi or Uttar Pradesh all over again @littledrunkenchef @littlemumbaimarket #curious_eater

Foods is consistently delicious and fresh - first time coming to the restaurant for lunch. Excellent sized portions with toasted Nan on the side

Really love Indian food and this place has authentic cuisine. Delicate layers of seasonings that make a truly excellent dinning experience.

I ordered daal tadka which is one of my go tos, GF ordered our other go to, saag paneer. My Dad ordered some chicken shit, my Mom ordered a chickpea dish, and they both ordered aloo gobi. I heard a lot of "this is really great" "this is really delicious" from them so their selections seemed to work out. I always get samosas and they provided THREE which is more than the TWO I usually get at my go to although theirs were slightly smaller but still filled with a tasty center. The saag paneer was delicious. I don't love when places add cream because like I'm getting something with spinach to be healthy but you are just ruining it, even though it tastes amazing. I didn't detect much, if any, cream and it was still really good. There weren't any massive onion pieces floating around either, A+. Unfortunately, the tadka daal was bland af. Didn't do much for me. My Dad actually dropped it on the floor in the garage when he was bringing shit to the fridge out there and I wasn't disappointed. One other thing I would like to add is that their naan was really good, better than my go to. I don't know why and can't explain it but it is what it is.

We were ordering lunch at work and decided to see what they had to offer. It's cool that they have lunch "specials" they call lunchboxes. The bummer is that they have a bunch of chicken and meat dishes but the only vegetarian option is just "vegetables lunchbox". What the fuck is that? There was no description whatsoever on their own website. I don't know about you, but i'm certainly not going to leave the quality of my lunch down to "vegetables". I wouldn't be this entitled for pretty much any other cuisine but Indian is one that tends to be more vegetarian friendly and therefore, I find it more disappointing. I didn't get to benefit from their lunch specials but I did try their dal makhani and samosas. The dal makhani was spectacular. It was creamy and delicious. I liked the variety of legumes in there, there were some red kidney beans amongst the lentils. The accompanying rice was also quite good, it contained some spices which added a little zing compared to the basic, white rice provided by pretty much every other place. This dish was really out of this world. The samosa was good too and a reasonable size. The potatoes in there were very tasty but some of them were a TOUCH underdone which negatively affected the overall texture. A colleague gave me some of their naan and this was soft and also very good, definitely better than some other more bland naan i've had elsewhere. Overall, a very positive experience. We had to pay an extra fee to deliver which was annoying and if not for that, I would absolutely order from here again as soon as possible.

The food flavor has definitely changed for the worse and I can only assume that the main chef they use has changed in the last year for the worse The paneer tikka I had last night was hard and inedible - it was either very overcooked or going off and I think a combination of both The lamb and chicken dishes had way too much salt and cardamom.. had to sift through where I could clearly see the cardomom to throw it out, same with the rice as it detracts from the flavor.. or should I say disguises issues. Ingredients didn't seem as fresh as they used to be Wait times another issue sometimes it's within the time you are given.. others it can take 20-30 minutes more which isn't a big deal when the food is great Sadly we'll need to reconsider coming here.. even the kids say the food is hit and miss (for the same meal) and that is really telling. Such a shame as many Indian take outs here just aren't good enough
