    Lamb Dosa, Samosa

The food was outstanding! We ordered best dosa I've ever eaten, as well as delicious lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka masala. The service was also very good. The decor is more modern and simple, not like the typical Indian restaurants we visit which tend to be more ornate.

a plate of rice and spinach

I was very much looking forward to trying India Avenue. I was hoping to give it five stars, the delivery service definitely deserves five stars! I ordered one of my favorites - Saag Paneer - spinach with paneer cheese. I am so happy to see restaurants in business and happy to continue ordering from them. While the dining out options have been limited, its been a chance to try out new restaurants via delivery. Tonight I figured I would try India Avenue. In the past I usually went to Tandoori in Port Chester but decided to try India Avenue for a change. I was so hoping for a great dish. The Sag Paneer tonight was not to my taste. I love spice but I dislike overly salty foods. My favorite part of the meal was the Basmati rice. I thought it was very good.

Potato paste sent inside kathi roll instead of Lamb
    M M.

Ordered lamb kathi rolls yesterday. When opened the container today it was aloo tikki (a potatoe paste) inside the roll. (I was charged for lamb ) When I called to inform them they first questioned me in return why Am I calling them next day instead of yesterday? I said because I am eating it today and I want them to know they sent wrong order. But instead of apologizing or accepting he said well if u told us yesterday we could do something about it but now we won't do anything. So I said, I don't need u to do much I just want u to accept u sent me wrong order. So he goes ' yeah yeah we accept we sent u wrong order' .... seriously !!!!

I love going to this little hidden gem, it's clean and the people are very friendly. I actually came with my uncle today for lunch, he traveled all the way from Brooklyn to try the Madara Chicken I rave about.

Excellent all around dishes, reasonably priced. Their mango-Lassie ( I hope I spelled it right) is to die for!

Here was my mother's day meal: These days I miss the motherland a lot, and I was very emotional towards the end of this meal. Her classics are phenomenal and heartwarming. -Maharastrian veg thaali: thaali is a combination of multiple dishes in one. The baingan warli (eggplant with peanuts and stuffed spices) was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The fried puri with aam rass (mango puree), reminded us of nostalgic heaven. -Aam panna, a mango mocktail with special ingredients, was not sweet and just right! -Malvani fish fry.... oh my i have no words for this dish. She used king fish with a nice coating of spices and breading, on a cast iron, and it was beyond words. The level of effort she puts is what makes this dish worth running for. Make sure you go and help her build her business. She's the real deal!!

We also shared the lasooni gobi, palak paneer and butter chicken. This was my first time ever having butter chicken believe it or not, I found the sauce to have a great depth of flavor but my favorite bite of the night was definitely the lasooni gobi. It was medium spice but was I definitely was able to handle it. I loved every single bite. The palak paneer was good too, but maybe I'd try the chili paneer next time because I found myself avoiding the sauce and the bell peppers and just eating the cheese, so I want to know if I'd like it more in another sauce. The place itself definitely needs some more life inside, it was empty and there was a huge TV playing music videos which was cool but definitely needs a fresh coat of paint, better tablecloths and some nice plates and cups would've been nice, it kinda felt like dining in was discouraged despite having a decent amount of seating. Definitely not as much of a vibe as the place down the street but the food was good!

The food flavor has definitely changed for the worse and I can only assume that the main chef they use has changed in the last year for the worse The paneer tikka I had last night was hard and inedible - it was either very overcooked or going off and I think a combination of both The lamb and chicken dishes had way too much salt and cardamom.. had to sift through where I could clearly see the cardomom to throw it out, same with the rice as it detracts from the flavor.. or should I say disguises issues. Ingredients didn't seem as fresh as they used to be Wait times another issue sometimes it's within the time you are given.. others it can take 20-30 minutes more which isn't a big deal when the food is great Sadly we'll need to reconsider coming here.. even the kids say the food is hit and miss (for the same meal) and that is really telling. Such a shame as many Indian take outs here just aren't good enough

There is a moderately sized municipal parking lot across the street which you can pay for with the passport parking mobile app. The venue is small with a few tables and appears to be more of a take out rather than dine in spot. The server was very friendly and cleaned off the table frequently of empty dishes. The venue was clean and had Bollywood tunes playing in the background creating a nice and cozy atmosphere. We tried various small plates which included the dhokla, samosa chaat, & chicken samosas. The apps were small in portion but were well seasoned and absolutely delicious! The chicken samosas were served with ketchup and had a slight kick to them. For main courses we tried a plain dosa with sambar and coconut chutney, the butter chicken bowl & a paneer khati roll. The dosa was crisp and beautifully paper thin. The butter chicken was served over white rice & was very tasty. We only wished it had more gravy on it. The khati roll was packed full of paneer and not overly spicy. We loved the dhokla and samosa chaat so much we ordered a second set to take home. The venue offers traditional drinks like masala chai and mango lassi in addition to traditional sweets. The menu is small but fun and great for a quick bite to eat. Definitely looking forward to returning!

My husband and I both got tikka masala dishes. He got chicken and I got the shrimp. In hindsight I wish I had tried the Saag just so we could have tasted a different sauce. However, the tikka masala was truly the best we've ever had. And we are always chasing excellent food so we've had our share. The dumplings were great but we would likely opt for a different appetizer as they didn't really blow us away. The service though is really what puts this place over the top.
