However, giving an explanation that the chef would decide to swap out Dal in a Thali just doesn't make any sense given that Lentil is explicitly mentioned as one of the components of the Thali. May be I got there early, as there was no one at the restaurant (however a few other came in later). I was greeted at the door and the person waiting was friendly. I had a lot to choose from and I decided to go with the non veg thali, had lentils, rice, chicken tikka masala, naan, rice pudding, raitha, papa, chicken tikka (tandoor) and pakoras. Overall, good food, personally I would have preferred more chicken tokka masala, gravy, as she chunks of meat took up most of the small bowl and did give me enough gravy. Maybe it was an off Saturday evening. Arrived at 5:30ish. Although cocktail was ordered, it must have sat as it was not chilled properly. I asked for a glass of ice with the cocktail which arrived 30 minutes later. The appetizer was excellent and best part of meal. The (no cream) Palak (sp) Paneer was VERY thick and lukewarm when received. The Tandoori chicken did not arrive on a sizzling plate (as we noticed another did later). The white meat in this dish was too dry to eat. The restaurant was half full and although service is friendly and kind, it was sparse at times. Ordering online was seamless. There was a coupon code on RaaSa's website that I used at checkout. However, the discount was not applied. When I went to pick up my order two different employees could not apply the discount. A third person came, and I walked her through my process. She indicated that the discount could not be adjusted through their system. Long story short, it was a new discount, and it was not processing correctly. At that point she offered to give me the discount difference from her pocket. I said that it was not necessary. I just wanted the food. Food that I was ordering as a surprise for my son, who had tried to order a week earlier but they were having an event. She then proceeded to offer me a drink, an appetizer, or naan. After saying again, no thank you, I just want the food so I could get home. Finally, I took her up on her offer of a mango lassi. While I waited at the bar for my order to be completed. We chatted and at some point, during our conversation, I learned that she and her husband were the owners. Priya, the owners name, just wanted to make this right. She could have easily told me; sorry, there is nothing that could be done. Instead, she went above and beyond. She took ownership of the error. Forget everything you know about Indian restaurants- because the owner and her husband have put down roots and changed the face of this spot on Rt 119 in Elmsford with something more modern. You won't miss RaaSa- just look for the stand-alone grayish 'house' style restaurant as your guide. I usually play it safe when it comes to Indian food: fritters such as Lasooni Gobi, Pakoras, Samosas and other foods that aren't heavy on the sauce. RaaSa's Lasooni Gobi took centerstage when it comes to those crispy edges and that tomatoey/Spicy/Sweet/thick- almost relish-type sauce. The ingredients in my Imli Eggplant were lush- just wished the eggplant was sliced thin and was 'crispy' as stated on the menu. Also in my order was the delicious Mango Lassi and moist Gulab Jamun to finish. And don't even forget the Indian music that was fire as I was about to do The Dougie on the spot while waiting for my pickup order. The space is elegant and modern with outrageous rose gold/copper hanging lamp balls. What's more, RaaSa has an excellent ventilation system in place because I didn't smell like food afterwards- and that's a fact. Raasa is the best Indian restaurant in Westchester. We even hosted my son and partner's wedding luncheon here, as Indian cuisine is our favorite. They were super accommodating and the food was amazing! They closed the restaurant down for us on a Sunday afternoon. Not many Indian restaurants can accommodate a group of 65 people like they can. Raasa is right on the main road on a stretch that's easily bypassed or overlooked if you weren't explicitly looking for it. When we went there were a few servers who sat us and brought out the food and drinks but the orders were all taken by a single person. This was one of the few gripes as it was the bottleneck for any requests. With a full restaurant our food took quite some time to come, but in the end the flavor and quality of it all had us convinced this is one of the best in the area. They seemed to get a non-stop stream of customers waiting to dine in as well as those picking up orders to go, which are all a testament to the delicious food they serve. read more

We just finished a disappointing take out dinner. When we arrived at 7:30pm on a Friday night, the restaurant was empty except for 2 tables of guests. I first noticed that there was very little chicken in my tikka masala and saag orders. And the spices seemed about 1/2 as much as well. The samosa tasted old as though it were been reheated from yesterday which was the same as our garlic and onion naan. It even tasted microwaved as the bread was very chewy in some parts and dried out in the middle.
